My goal was for it to be a single finished product
I don't like the idea of making an evolving language
00:42
@rydwolf bug fixes are inevitable :p
00:57
You underestimate my perfectionist tendencies
It it makes it to final release it's a feature
But it will not.

@Bbrk24 clear cache...?
(and maybe reinstall the script, I've made a few changes to it)

keep thinking about this every time I work on my sustainable engineering assignments
@lyxal Nobody objects to TI-BASIC answers using an implied native tokenized encoding for scoring without directly submitting the encoded bytes
@lyxal Or to Jelly having the pilcrow and newline map to the same byte
04:07
How does my sister get this fucking judgy about it every time I use basic over-the-counter painkillers?
I have a mysterious headache, after midnight, that I've been getting on and off all day and been putting off doing anything about? I should figure out why I have a headache and "solve what's actually causing the problem"
(which is, uh, given how cold I've been feeling in the mornings and the sore throat I'm just now getting, probably a seasonal virus of some sort which can't be "fixed" by doing anything other than wait it out and treat the symptoms for comfort)
And after it takes me like 20 seconds to realize she can't even guess why I think "I don't know why I have this headache" answers the questions she's giving me, she lets me off with "It's after midnight" but still corners me into saying I'll "be more thoughtful" next time under other cicumstances
Where the hell is this even coming from?
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Click is hard to do one-handed but it worked

@Ginger how to clear cache on mobile?
not only are .golf sites expensive, none of the ones I want are available either
golfing.community is 30/y
somewhat considering it
I'd rather something with "together" than "community"
hm, togethergolf.ing for 10
not sure I like that
alternatively chuck it on a subdomain of your website until you figure out what you want
yeah that's the plan

@RubenVerg or, if all else fails, [page].github.io
10:14
You know CHAT.addEventHandlerHook? For event 6, does it also send what other people have starred?
@TheEmptyStringPhotographer can't host servers on github
and like I already have a website anyways, and planning to set up a permanent server
actually the thing might even work in deno deploy, I'd just need to not use local postgres like I do now

CMQ Choose 5 random points in a circle, probably that all these points fall in a half circle. The half circle need to be totally in circle but can be smaller, so all points near center is positive and result is larger than 5/16

where is that?

@RubenVerg based deno
@RubenVerg communigol
@TheEmptyStringPhotographer GitHub pages only lets you host static sites, this website requires server functionality because it has user input/database storage etc
Technically, with a github action triggered by a webhook I think you could host a site like that on github pages...but you really shouldn't
Like you could make it so that user input is committed to the repo whenever you submit a form which tells a third party service to hit the GH action
but that's super cursed
13:17
@RubenVerg your user page → preferences

Do you accept joke pronouns if they’re for a bot (inanimate user)?
15:02
@TheEmptyStringPhotographer What kind of joke pronouns were you thinking?
Doing that as a joke doesn't sit right with me, especially considering how there are similar neos that people actually use
(e.g. bo/bot/bots/bots/botself)
how about utilitie/utilitem
I’m gonna defer back to the messages by Rydwolf a while ago. I find it unlikely you’ll come up with a set I will be okay with
15:18
UtilityBot/TESPBot
In order for a joke pronoun to work, it would really have to be something that works as a serious pronoun set, that you would use as a serious pronoun set, that also happens to be funny because of the context. I won’t say that’s impossible, but I’m not sure I can see a situation in which it would work. Otherwise you’re making a joke about the concept of pronouns, which is problematic for all the reasons Rydwolf outlined before.

isn't that like that Onion quote?
parody has to be able to confuse the uninformed

@TheEmptyStringPhotographer how much clearer do we have to be, huh? do not

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

JordanZigZag encoding and decoding ZigZag encoding is a method of encoding unsigned integers to signed integers. Positive integers are multiplied by two. Negative integers are equal to their absolute values multiplied by two, minus one. Decoding is the inverse process. (Viotti, Juan & Kinderkhedia, Mi...

Linguistics majors, I feel you now
Just had my first vocals class
And the things we had to say to warm up
I never even knew such sounds existed lol
att
att
18:34
i don't think linguistics students necessarily can pronounce them
though ofc they're probably more likely to want to
Me: “kilovolt”
Speech text: “kg volt”
Thank you Siri very cool
@noodleperson the alternative is to add http server features to tinyapl and use that(:
it'd be horribly slow though
@Ginger now pronouns don't appear at all for me nor you
I still se both of yours fine
@Ginger (serious question) how about hijacking the pronouns thing to write, like, (pronouns: this is a bot) so that people with the extension have a quicker way to find out the user in in fact a bot?
yeah pronouns are working fine for me
18:48
@UnrelatedString i don't but only on mobile
Oh
I have an iPhone so I don't get userscripts at all on mobile
@RubenVerg this could be useful, but it would be easier for me to add a dedicated syntax for it
like if the user's bio starts with ⚙ they get a "bot" tag
might implement that later

Q: Create a Pride Flag

vonjdChallenge Create the image of a pride flag (rainbow flag), i.e. a six coloured striped flag (from top to bottom): red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. 18:54
oh what bounties bump posts?
apparently
whatever it's a fun challenge anyways
Hm, thought for a challenge (that doesn't seem to exist) that I want to gather a bit of feedback on before I even take it to the sandbox: Draw the flag of Greenland
In high school, the online JS IDE we had came with a canvas that we could draw on with classes like Circle, Line, Rectangle etc. There were a bunch of increasingly difficult challenges and I completed all of them. At the end I admitted to the teacher that I still had no idea how to draw the flag of Greenland
you know the real problem with Golf Together is that I can't come up with any challenge
18:58
maybe I'd have to convince people here to join and repost theirs
I had no idea how to line up two semicircles like that. The only way I had needed to draw semicircles previously, I just drew a full circle and covered up the other half with a rectangle
generate the two rectangle halves as booleans, under selecting the circle invert, multiply by the red color
See, the Circle class took three parameters iirc: center, radius, and color. We couldn't do filters like that
Still, I'm asking whether this would be a good challenge on this site without a language/framework restriction
@Bbrk24 sorry, missed the message about the ide thing
I think it could be an interesting challenge
@Bbrk24 Yeah, I feel like your best option would have to have been manually arranging single-pixel-tall rectangles as "scan lines" at that point
19:08
iirc I considered making a bunch of triangles to approximate the circle as a many-sided polygon
something like this
att
att
what are and |→
att
att
ah so you have reduces in both directions?
yeah
though i'm considering moving them to / and \
since scan is done with On Prefixes/On Suffixes like in j

@emanresuA This answer of yours is completely broken for me
as I said in the post it's very system-specific, still works for me
but it's possible it'll randomly break at some point
also it really wasn't that laggy
It definitely used to be when I was writing it but I guess it isn't now
I could try downpatching firefox to check if it's that or if it was just my computer at the time, but I definitely remember it being quite unresponsive (subpixel sampling of fonts at least used to be extremely bad performance-wise)
me omw to hard code the output of running that one program so it never breaks
22:21
@Bbrk24 yes
@att i was referencing 2 earlier messages where rydwolf was making fun of linguistics students studying by endlessly making weird sounds

Dedemdedomdedomdemedemedemedemedemedem
@Ginger images you can hear
@noodleperson thought this said commiegolf for a second
dang liberals ruining code golf for everyone smh
@lyxal I almost said "comradegol" but it sounds dumb
23:05
in soviet russia, you dont golf code; code golfs you
Sounds pretty accurate, code golf correlates with deterioration
The communist golf of course in comparison to anarchy golf
In fact, comigol could be a real name unironically
