My phone started ringing while muted while my cat was sitting on it, and I was like, "wow, she's purring aggressively" before I realized lol

For a brief second, I misread a NY Times notification that Nigel Farage had been elected to parliament for the first time as a notification that he had been elected prime minister and I had a mini heart attack
Anyway, congrats to britain for y'all's new (decidedly non-Faragey) PM

my headphones have an aware/pass-through mode and wow, it's actually lowkey trippy
like it sounds exactly like real life except I know it's being processed by software
very strange if it's not something you're used to

I just got a semi-golfed Python response to my challenge but I think it's ChatGPT output because of the text that was sent with it. Do I mod flag or something?
Ai answers aren't banned here
But if it isn't a serious competitor, flag it as so
We require answers to have a serious attempt at golfing made
Unless of course it isn't properly attributed
That's a no no
> we do consider AI generated content to be "the work of others" and the requirements for referencing must be followed for all such content on the network.
@noodleperson in summary, if you think it's ai generated and it isn't properly attributed, mod flag it and the code golf mods can apply the heuristics where applicable

Q: Plot the ground path of a satellite

guest4308If you model a satellite as a free point orbiting a body, you can pretty easily see it has 6 degrees of freedom: three for the X, Y, and Z position, and three for the X, Y, and Z velocity. However, using those 6 numbers doesn't tell you much about the orbit (and are constantly changing over time ...

TruongViSubstring of Fibonacci String Given an infinite set of string \$f_0, f_1, ...\$ where: \begin{cases} f_0 = \text{0}\\ f_1 = \text{1}\\ f_i = f_{i-1} + f_{i-2},&∀i > 1 \end{cases} Consequently, when extending further from \$f_1\$, we get: \begin{cases} f_0 = \text{0}\\ f_1 = \text{1}\\ f_2 = \text...

i've spent free time over the last 2 years or more programming in a freeware game engine for my phone (kind of like scracth or game maker for switch, no easy method to run outside of platform, except free with ads and IAP). Evidently it is fun for me to make things that I have fun playing. I want to move away from that service. I know rust and have tried to understand the Bevy engine,
Bevy is definately hard mode. It changes constantly, and in general people haven't really figured out how to properly arcitecture games around the borrow system yet.

Might I suggest Godot?
You can use Rust in godot: godot-rust.github.io

Wow, I just got a call three days after submitting a scholarship application that I got the scholarship...that's probably the fastest I've ever had something like that get processed lol
waow

whoa
nice

@mousetail godot is really good
the only bit i dont like is gdscript but using other langs is too much hassle for my current project :/
@RydwolfPrograms purrrrrrRRRRRRR
i actually kinda like gdscript
it's kinda rough around the edges but it feels largely suited to purpose
I used to hate them but now I believe:
specialized languages > general purpose languages
real
gdscript feels like it can default a bit too much towards trying to pretend it's python, but stuff like dollar sign path syntax is so handy
wish it had atoms distinct from strings for stuff like paths and signals though

My favorite speclang is GLSL
Swizzing is such a cool feature that could never exist in a genlang
@mousetail Uiua has "stack swizzling" which come from that, though they are probably going to be removed because they aren't tacit
Can that be completely compiled away and have no runtime cost :p
Hello!
you could probably do something similar in a compiled language with sufficiently expressive macros and good ways to mess with lvalues like that
At that point you are basically creating a DSL
20:02
but it might require doing something stupid like actually populating the class with 1020 different "pre-swizzled" fields
lol that too
That is actually pretty common in different linear algebra libraries
Often they have only the basic xy xz yz and don't support complex things like wyx or whatever you can come up with
interesting
In GLSL you can also mix and match rgba as an alias for xyzw. Not super useful but never seen any other language do that
Also you can do both vec3(vec2(x,y), z) and vec3(x,vec2(y,z)) which is very useful and rarely seen in linalg libraries in other languages

I was looking for the list of common good stackgolflang builtins
which I thought was on your GitHub Gist but I guess not
