Yesterday I learned how VLA can become a target for malicious attacks.
Arrgh, I'd rather wish C boxed everything then!

the moment you use VLAs for anything nontrival they will mess something up
Yeah, that
@lyxal well, it's the avocado constant

What's A281701(6)? I can only find that it's at least* 4*2^^140
> The next term is too large to include (2^16385, it has 4933 digits).
"the next term" being a(5)
the OEIS page has a formula if you want to work out the Knuth up-arrow tower
Can it be expressed using ^^ ?
04:14
Apparently a(6) = 2*2^(2^^(2^^(2^(2*7))))
04:39
Wow that's atleast 7

A: Tips for Golfing in Vyxal 3

concertwonderlandVyxal 3 is still a stack based programming language that uses a Single Byte Code Set (SBCS) for scoring well in code golf. It also retains some of the key features of. version 2, such as contexts, modifiers and many, many type overloads. It also maintains the more prac-lang-centric features such ...

Now that's something I wasn't expecting to see today
They could have at least formatted the code block in the portion they copy-pasted from the readme

Q: Sunsetting Winter/Summer Bash: Rationale and Next Steps

RosieThis year, we made the difficult decision to sunset Winter/Summer Bash. Winter Bash has been an annual event on Stack Exchange each December for the past decade. What are the origin and goals of Winter Bash? Winter Bash, in its original conception, was an event that was there for fun at the end o...

Apparently, it just isn't fresh anymore
A bit like how biweekly mini golf and learn you a language and language of the month became oversaturated

CGAC was a bit meh last year, most challenges where not that good
11:01
@lyxal damn, i thought that was some chatgpt response lmfao
hand-written, yoinked straight from the readme.md file :p
@mousetail r we doing anything similar this year or nah

aoc about to start, we gonna have to unfreeze this room pretty soon yay: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/131933/advent-of-code
sad we couldnt keep it unfrozen for the whole way through lmfaoo
we should do that for the following year lol, just keep the room unfrozen the whole time
11:19
ah but you forgot one small thing
I can do that :p
O_O
how u talking in frozen rooms lmao
it's also a thing I can do
you can do it too, but it requires a bit of dedication and is a bit tricky to set up
what now
11:30
yeah
becoming a moderator requires a bit of dedication and is a bit tricky to set up
precisely :p
a bit tricky might be an understatement lmfao

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

PhilipposOne-dimensional map colouring It is a well-known fact that you can colour a two-dimensional map with four colours in such a way that two countries with a common border always have different colours. There have already been enough challenges on this topic. However, the prerequisite for this is tha...

weird challenge idea thing: decision problem but its fastest code, but youre only timed on one of the two outputs
so for a basic example; a prime checker that rejects nonprimes really fast, but can take however long to confirm primes
could this be viable to be interesting for a problem? or too stupid
like interesting for something other than the prime checker i mean, thats just an example to get the idea across
23:28
im not sure if requiring it to handle both outputs is more interesting or not
