@mathcat voilà
@mathcat Why not a bounty on outgolfing you or something?
> I just want to spend my rep
It will be pretty hard for someone to get those many upvotes, and as you said, they'd already have 370 rep from that
add another 100 to the vyzal bounties
@emanresuA They should give me some rep then :P
@mathcat Could you start 500 rep bounties on three random answers of mine? I'd appreciate it
20:02
Can you start 1000 rep bounties on every answer I've already had bounties on?
It'd be hilarious if mathcat gave away all their rep to the most downvoted answer on the site
tell you what, just ask the mods to merge your account with mine so I can get all your rep
Or will mathcat get all your rep? Will the result be mathcat, pxeger, or a Frankensteinian product of both?
just pxeger obviously
That's what you think
20:05
@user FYI, the most downvoted undeleted answer is codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/168278
me: asks friend what they think of my ping sound
friend: ...
friend: it sure is a sound

@mathcat And other Scratchers, how would I go about representing the following as text?
one sec
(specifically, the join (0x) (ffd700))
I think ^ works fine
@Ginger Unfortunately, Scratchblocks interprets them as variables ^
20:26
In any case, it doesn't matter because it's longer than mathcat's solution
att

@user (join[0x][ffd700?
Ah
att
att
though, why not something like set pen color to(#ffd700
Good idea
Go get those 38 upvotes! :P

Horrible prank idea: Install a userscript/extension on someone's computer that speeds up their YT video speed by 1% a day or so
Especially effective if they listen to music on YT a lot
does youtube let you set playback speeds that arent a multiple of .25?
I believe it does, and even if it didn't, you could probably get finer changes by messing about in a userscript
You can set a custom speed actually
(+200 if anyone can figure out what video that is in the background)
@RadvylfPrograms oh damn i have literally never noticed that setting before
it does look like that one only does increments of .05 though
Probably just a range slider thing though, I wouldn't be surprised if setting the value to a non-integer multiple of that (or maybe something a bit more invasive) would work
21:52
@RadvylfPrograms how install userscript :) asking you because i dont trust the google
First install Tampermonkey (Chrome) or Greasemonkey (Firefox), then click the "raw" button and it'll automatically open an install page
thank u kindly

YAY random question button success
It randomly stopped working for a few weeks not too long ago, then started working again, apparently due to SE trying to implement application-level DoS protections lol
@RadvylfPrograms Source?
"Oh no! I'm trapped in a big forest (Okay, not really," good lord this challenge scared me for a second

Q: Update on the ongoing DDoS attacks and blocking Tor exit nodes

Josh ZhangFor the past month, Stack Overflow has been hit by weekly DDoS attacks that progressively grew in size and scope. In each incident, the attacker(s) have been changing their methodology and responding to our countermeasures. Initially, we were able to detect and mitigate the attacks before any per...

22:11
@RadvylfPrograms That doesn't say anything about random question button.
I don't think they'd take the time to dedicate a sentence to a userscript that about four people use
I mean, how do you know that random question access being disabled is related to the DoS?
They'd mentioned something about application-level stuff with the API, right around the time the issue showed up. I thought it was that post but apparently not...
Aha it was a blog post: stackoverflow.blog/2022/05/16/…
> our API has been hit by application layer attacks
> After we mitigated the attack, they regrouped and tried targeting user pages by requesting super high page counts.
22:15
I was under the impression it was some sort of search that got hit. Perhaps the random page button uses the same internal API.
Since the random question script needs to pick a random page to find a question on, it requested large page numbers, which were temporarily blocked

So, turns out that my alternate dice code from yesterday was faulty - in particular, when there were multiple ways to factorise a polynomial it only chose a specific one
I haven't figured out how to make it factorise in every way, but I made a nondeterministic version and generated six sets of d210s with the same roll distribution as a regular pair.
23:08
@emanresuA There's multiple ways to factor a polynomial?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not quite sure what's up with that one
Never mind, turns out my code assumed stuff like x^6 + 1 wasn't factorisable
The Fundamental Theorem of Algebra is my favorite math thing :(

Ah, the joys of making a new GitHub workflow
looks like one of those minimal puzzle games
or part of a shoe
@thejonymyster could be a guess the workflow puzzle :p
Github Workflowdle
Workflow more like No work no flow :(
Workflown't
23:39
Workcongested
Playblockage
No no a playblockage is equivalent to a work flow
It'd be a workblockage
Or a playflow
@lyxal Unless there's some third option other than work and play, like sleep
Or an in-between for flow and blockage, like trickle
