Where is the advent of golf day 26?
advent is the countdown from dec 1st to christmas
there is no 26th day of advent
whoops
@lyxal why?
what does this mean?
@Fmbalbuena because i was bored and felt the need to create a funny image
01:21
> what does this mean?
it's the names of the moderators interpreted literally
can you name?
i mean put to the image
the point is that you should be able to infer which picture represents which mod by thinking about their username literally
e.g the top right is a doorknob: codegolf.stackexchange.com/users/3808/doorknob
01:25
vcoffee?
A neutrino ( or ) (denoted by the Greek letter ν) is a fermion (an elementary particle with spin of 1/2) that interacts only via the weak interaction and gravity. The neutrino is so named because it is electrically neutral and because its rest mass is so small (-ino) that it was long thought to be zero. The rest mass of the neutrino is much smaller than that of the other known elementary particles excluding massless particles. The weak force has a very short range, the gravitational interaction is extremely weak, and neutrinos do not participate in the strong interaction. Thus, neutrinos typically...
coffee is a stimulant
hyper?
correct
where is hyper?
> coffee is a stimulant
01:27
ok
and...
stimulants can make people hyper...
@lyxal FM radio-balbuena?
hey did someone need me
currently busy trying to unban myself from a server i'm admin on
3
@hyper-neutrino no, just making unfunny sh*tposts as per usual
01:35
aight
01:46
@hyper-neutrino how'd that happen?
If you're an admin, how'd you get banned?
heh
so turns out my alt account was still banned since I was using it for testing
and I didn't bother to unban it, so after I left (also for testing), I also couldn't rejoin on my main because discord bans are account+IP bans by default
and I forgot about that, lol. I ended up using a VPN to circumvent the IP ban but I should've just unbanned my alt first; I didn't remember to do that
it's only after i looked up "discord says i'm banned but i'm not" and it mentioned IP bans that I remembered
@hyper-neutrino why use a VPN when you can just use tor? /s
idk why after i saw that thing i didn't think to just unban my alt
only after using a vpn and rejoining i remembered i could've just unbanned my alt and see if that works
02:01
@RedwolfPrograms I shall take that as a challenge
game on!
Nice, competition should yield better products
As an incentive for both of y’all to improve, I will give 500 rep to whomever has more languages by the end of February :p
they have to be usable, not just "well yeah they're ready but the rest of the app isn't", I presume?
Of course

1 hour later…
03:42
@hyper-neutrino how could this happen
@user RTO's planned release date is like March lol (with around 40 languages initially, and approx. 10 per week for the next few months after that, plus any user submitted languages)
So in February it'll be like 3 vs. however many ATO has :p
04:22
@RedwolfPrograms wew
For many languages, there are pre-existing docker containers, and/or pretty simple instructions to follow to get them running in one. So all I'd have to do is take that and drop some scripts into it. And for languages like golfing languages that are built off of another language, it'll be just as easy.
@Razetime so I implemented a function into the bot to make it ban anyone who deletes protected channels
and protected + deleted a test channel on my alt
later, I removed my verification role and left the server to test the verification flow since I needed to redo some of the embeds in the rules channel
gmaer
and then couldn't rejoin because my alt's ban also applied an IP ban to me
and only after I used a vpn to circumvent it did i realize i could've just unbanned my alt kekw
@Fmbalbuena Because I like Snoopy ^_^
04:31
@lyxal lmao
Also @Fmbalbuena if you have questions about how to use any of my languages, you can ping me here (don't use Github issues please). Specifically about tinylisp: to print something, you either just write an expression at the top level and it'll be printed (TIO), or in certain cases you might want to use the disp builtin (for example).
@lyxal neutrino one gotta be the weakest here
rest are flawless
05:12
Idk what tech companies have against buttons...I hate things that just detect when you tap them
Because you either tap them by accident all the time, or you can't figure out where/how hard to tap and it doesn't work when you need it to
And then sometimes they'll go through a ton of effort to add haptics and stuff for when you tap it...to make it feel like...a button
it makes sense with touchscreens but there's no fucking point to doing that with anything else and i hate it
there are some ellipticals at the gym here where the buttons all lag a bit and barely depress
@RedwolfPrograms poeple think its futuristic
yeah i hate that the lack of tactility is seen as cool and such
arguably it's not great for accessibility and also in general it's just annoying, feels unresponsive, and dissatsfying
05:32
Are we talking about smartphones here?
I mean things with screens are sorta different, since you can't exactly put a button in the middle of a touchscreen, and why even would you
uh idk but i'm complaining about my microwave
Oh lol
My microwave's buttons are like that and barely work lol
My microwave's buttons are like that, and the one to select the power level just stopped working one day, and even worse it seems to roll a die before everything you cook, and my family just hasn't noticed and refuses to adjust cooking times for stuff
So you'll get an even mixture of things which are quite clearly overcooked or burnt, and things that are half cold
05:43
@RedwolfPrograms false.
...well, I suppose it has been two months
I have such a lack of life that that's been in the back of my mind ever since
I should redownload the data and make an updated top 100 list
Even better, I should save the code I use to do it this time
05:57
sometimes my microwave randomly decides it doesn't want to listen to button presses
unless you press stop and then it works again
06:17
@RedwolfPrograms give it one of those xkcd fair dice
06:37
petition for companies: bring back tactile buttons
ok ok i got something
imagine this: a keyboard that uses touchscreen buttons
Phone keyboards lol
But yeah, a full sized keyboard that uses those microwave style buttons would be ultra cursed
@RedwolfPrograms no a separate usb device
@RedwolfPrograms yeah
I think I've seen a video showing off cheap like 1980s keyboards, and some of them were actually like that
this and this
the second ^ one is the worst

so uh how do i test quicks

@lyxal as funny as this is, I wouldn't really like the starboard to get filled up with random imgur links to memes
09:01
^ help
> a(n) is a(n-1) multiplied by the number of 0's so far in the sequence.
it's multiplied by the number of zeroes so far in the whole sequence upto that point, not just the previous term
@pxeger thats where i am stuck
how to count the number of 0s in the entire sequence
is oeis shutting down?
I don't think that's easy to do in a recursive function
@PyGamer0 no?
@RedwolfPrograms My ZX81 keyboard was basically just three sheets of plastic with some metal strips running between
2
CMC: Implement A059841
09:29
@pxeger you can install this if you want to see the images directly in the starboard. if that's not the issue then all I'll say is I don't see a problem with memes/images being starred and it's fine if that's just something we disagree on
ooh
...that extension being popular in maid cafe would explain why so much of the starboard there is images
i'd say it's more so the other way around :P
10:02
@hyper-neutrino did you use python for AoC?
@PyGamer0 yes
for all of it
i vaguely started trying to do day 24 with prolog before doing it on paper, and tried to do day 1 part 2 in jelly before going back to python, but otherwise did the whole thing in python
imagine using practical languages, made by brainfuck gang
CMC: Solve AoC Day 1 Part 1 with Brainfuck
@hyper-neutrino how does the ascii art look like (the calendar)?

Moring
hello there
jokes on you because it's 10:57pm here
ok, another Fmbalbuena?
or something?
I've already made enough funny images for today
don't got the funny juice flowing
ok
a joke for me?
sure
what did the santa claus say to his elf?
12:06
none
"say hello to my little friend"
it's funny because there is a movie called saying hi with christian bale as batman and
ok
another?
what did the pirate say to his parrot?
answer?
"arrrr"
funny because it rhymes and parrots speak more with "arra's than yes or no answers. I mean, you know things like that?
12:13
ok
k
what did the fish say when he was stuck in a net?
none because he dies
"take me to your leader"
man I don't know if that's actual humor
oh well
@Fmbalbuena
you ever wonder about the subliminal messages in beer ads?
[no message here]
ya know… "win or die trying" packed in next to beer
sometimes I wonder about the general trust we've developed for each other. Through technology and all that stuff, needing certain laws and checking tickets online etc just feels like living by some numbers made up on a piece of paper…. if that's true, I wouldn't trust someone after a disagreement.
12:27
Lyxal or lyxal?
lyxal
then vyxal
:P
:p
I guess but it's not like tables turn soon and people might for one reason or the other just report you on worst scenarios if they don't know anything about us, besides those we have had to give over time through email-communication :) So Fmbalbuena is cool
did you ever wonder why we never have more then one of each fruit or flower on trees?
CMP: Should i change Uselesslang to a golfing language?
@Fmbalbuena I'm trying to learn golf myself. So no ;) there's only two balls/clubs and everything about golf is about playing well, spacing yourself and first of all….?
fairway?
12:35
@lyxal wdym?
spelling isn't golf's strong point
you should see how some people spell on forums, specially with copy paste
spelling isn't golf's strong point
you should see how some people spell on forums, specially with copy paste
you mean copy paste as in code? or copy paste as in forums?
you mean copy paste as in code? or copy paste as in forums?
I never played golf (or real games….) by forum, is that a way to do it?
12:41
@lyxal a golfing language means language with fewest bytes.
or let me reformulate: text language for club(s) uses thousand times so many bytes as a golfing one.
@lyxal is not lyxal
lyxal is not @lyxal
lyxal is lyxal

Q: how to search a question with least X answers without SEDE?

Fmbalbuenahow to search a question with least X answers? i want to search question with least 30 answer but i can't.

@NewPosts @Fmbalbuena you could just ask this here in chat, the answer is very simple
Damn hyper, ninja'd me by a second :/
Also, I think -13 bytes, as the is:question is unnecessary
18:23
true

1 hour later…
19:49
or you could do is:q
@Neil There are like three or four in Vyxal :P
@pxeger yeah; i just typed it out as is:question to make it clearer what it meant (even though it was probably obvious either way)
but ig on a site called code golf i should've valued the golfability more
@emanresuA yeah, wasn't popular enough to make the cut
i:q is even better

CMP: Opinions of my first message?
in The Lean-to, Oct 24 at 15:50, by Huỳnh Trần Khanh
just let it freeze. we already have https://leanprover.zulipchat.com anyway, and if this room freezes then it probably isn't of use to the community anyway
Unless a room is somewhat regularly used, there's no point in posting antifreeze, as mods can unfreeze them in the future if needed

Q: Add 404 Page not found image

FmbalbuenaThere are a lot of SE sites with page not found image like this, But CGCC page not found image is 404, Can you add? I don't suggest 404 polyglot!

Why needs details or clarity?

because "can you add?" is not a feature request

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

emanresu ASides of a polygon Given an ASCII-art shape made of the characters /\|_, your challenge is to return the number of sides it has. A side is a straight line of one of those, for example: \ \ \ / / | | | | _____ Are all sides. For example, this shape: ___ / \ /_____\ Has four sides. Yo...

21:48
(IMO) this could've been interesting if the base language was less of a tarpit and simpler.
Yeah, designing the base language was one of the hardest parts of that challenge
Not too satisfied with how it ended up
Thing is, eventually it'd've become this
Maybe. If there was a better way to measure the general golfiness of a language, the challenge would be much better
@cairdcoinheringaahing And without hundreds and thousands of answers...
22:19
Take any 4 digit number where all four digits are not the same. Sort its digits in decreasing order and call it A. Now sort its digits in increasing order and call it B. Compute C=A-B. Repeat the same process with C until you get into a loop
That was meant to be a CMC
At the end output the number you get in the loop
Very nice
it can in fact be even shorter :)
I sense a mathematical formula coming up
I don’t think the code works with 1110
1110-0111=999, so the "4 digit number where all four digits are not the same" no longer holds
22:27
It should go 1110 , 999, 8991 etc
999 is 0999
Yeah, then the Jelly solution is going to be much longer
Good :)
Vyxal, 14 bytes: Try it Online!
@lyxal cool
try some more inputs :)
Oh
Oh I see

@lyxal done!
@cairdcoinheringaahing jokes on you it won't be
We ignore the fancy mathematical formulas :P
22:35
It's not even that
It literally just converges to a single number for every input
The same number
Each and every time
I thought it was fun
All roads inputs lead to Rome 6174 :P
@graffe it's fun to try and generalise it for any number length
