ಠ_ಠ

@lyxal speaking of I’ve got winter break coming up so i van help take a couple of those down
I wanna start on miltifile cyxal projects

12:34 PM
@lyxal lol imagine having a repo popular enough to have issues

@user Cyxal?
Is that some sort of vyxal knock off I don't know about? /s

presumably vyxal made in C
hold please

Oh okay

@GingerIndustries everyone has issues :p

@GingerIndustries Nice hold music btw

12:35 PM
@lyxal no github results so it clearly doesn't exist

why cyxal when you can just target an IR

@lyxal oh no you weren’t supposed to know about my offbrand vyxal fork that’s 10% cheaper using forced labor

@user ಠ_ಠ

@Razetime ooh wanna go the llvm route?

@user Dang can't believe I'm being undercut by my own dev team :p

12:37 PM
@user JVM muahhaha

i'm sorry thare are multiple people working on vyxal?

i'm doing some work on llvm rn so hopefully by the end of it maybe I can help with that

(I mean I was going to work on that Scala rewrite but i haven’t gotten around to it yet lol)

@GingerIndustries yes, there are many who frequent this room

@Razetime oh like transpiling to bytecode? Mmm

12:38 PM
@GingerIndustries we uh have a github organisation if that counts

I wanna interpret in scala for extra portability

@lyxal maybe I should get one of those
i even have a snazzy logo:

But the problem with rewriting in another language is that vyxal’s doing great rn and only has a few bugs here and there, we don’t want them to come up again

Besides the Scala migration isn't scheduled to start until February next year

Ye

12:39 PM
@lyxal scheduled to start

@user And that's assuming preliminary planning only takes a month

this is all very corporate

We are a nonprofit organization

We have a roadmap that spans to May 2022 as well

@lyxal ಠ_ಠ

12:40 PM
But we’re nonprofit only because no one’s sponsored us yet :p

@GingerIndustries what? It’s good

@user yeah I'm working on that. Just gotta wait I guess.

i'm just impressed
that yall are putting that much work into it

12:41 PM
It only cost like 1k rep in may this year to convince people to come on board lol

okay so apparently there is already a github organization named APOL
which has no repos

No public repos
There's probably private stuff

no no it has nothing
no commits, no repos, no stars, nothing
it doesn't even have a pfp

As I said. There's probably private stuff

still feels like a joke to me
ah well

12:44 PM
How many repos do you see that we have? github.com/orgs/Vyxal/repositories

;-;
plenty
and a filled-out profile

I'm more saying that the repos you see are just the public ones
Theres about 3 private repos in the org

So the APOL org might just be private repos

sure, but i'm still not happy
the chances are astronomical

12:46 PM
@lyxal we're migrating to scala?!
wouldn't that hurt the pythonanywhere site

@Razetime what rock have you been living under?
@Razetime github pages is where it's at
Free hosting, instant deploy, what more could one ask for?

since when can you run scala on github pages
scala to wasm?

It transpiles to js

i see

Apparently there's some things that are a little buggy with the js equivalents, but that should be fine
@GingerIndustries just a quick note: it took a whole year for vyxal to become that popular. There was a very long time where it was just me and me alone

12:49 PM
@lyxal still some hope for APOL then

Correct

And further, vyxal is my second golf lang, meaning it's actually taken me 3 years to get something popular happening
And before you ask we don't talk about the first one

Why?

It's cursed and it's best that it doesn't get mentioned
Isn't that right @Razetime?

12:51 PM
uno minuto

yeah keg is something

@Razetime that's an understatement.

found it
also made a fork so we can preserve it for posterity

like any lyxal endeavour it has nice docs
and i doubt lyxal is deleting it anytime soon

i am amused by the fact that said docs start with "A Few Conventions of This Document"

12:53 PM
@Razetime nervously looks at keta and curlyfrick
@Razetime as cursed as it is, that's correct. I ain't deleting it

i thought APOL's docs were good but holy shit

@GingerIndustries if you think that's good, you should see Vyxal's docs and specs

hm why did we pick scala exactly

Because @user
That's why

"But unlike its competitors, Vyxal has a special focus upon readability and elegancy." so the opposite of APOL

12:55 PM
this feels like it will take approx. forever

@Razetime probably, but I don't think we're in any rush

good thing we already have some spec of them i guess

Also the Scala version will be v3
So it'll have a whole new element list
You can see a preview of that on the experimental branch

new element list? :weary:

More list and array overloads and stuff
@GingerIndustries did you know that Vyxal is gluten free?
It's like one of our main selling points
Anyhow I'mma head out and sleep
Bye y'all o/

1:06 PM
o/

oo

@Bubbler sorry for skipping tasks and sorry for late reply
@PyGamer0 /// INVALID SYNTAX
@AaroneousMiller /// INVALID SYNTAX
@PyGamer0 oo
etc

1:22 PM
Wow, Steller Question went almost 4 years without being awarded

not sure if i find that more surprising or how many times it got awarded in 2014

mornin
i'm back

yo
Today emanresuA reminded me that this challenge exists, but I don't actually remember what the solution is, so I have to crack my own cop, and I guess if anybody else wants to help try and crack it I wouldn't complain.

@AaroneousMiller good luck to you

lol thx ;_;

1:37 PM
>:)

@GingerIndustries A suggestion for APOL: Treat superscript numbers (Cell Addresses) as their own datatype (e.g. Strings, Ints, Floats, Addresses, etc.) and then add a command to cast an Int or Float to an Address. Currently, the only way to use addresses is to hardcode them into the program, but it would be cool if you could use addresses dynamically instead.

@AaroneousMiller Good idea. I'll put it on my mental to-do list.

A: List of bounties with no deadline

PyGamer0250 Reputation I will give anyone who writes a working answer in C (not C++), for Jam don't add like that. Condition The input must be taken as integers, not as char pointers (or strings) NOTE: Comment to receive your reputation

^ anyone want to try?
(imma lose 250 rep lol)

@PyGamer0 what is this?

write an answer in C to the question
while following the single rule
and get ez 250 rep

1:44 PM
@PyGamer0 yk you can just... add a bounty to the question itself
:|

this way it doesn't have a deadline

^

oh valid

i wonder if the bounty will ever get completed

¯\_(ಠ_ಠ)_/¯

1:54 PM
it might be impossible
but since C is TC it should be possible

2:10 PM
isnt C not tc

you are right, it cant make tea for me

@PyGamer0 i see

P vs NP
vs
C vs TC

Coffee vs Tea&Coffee

2:26 PM
i tried Tea+Coffee once
or twice
it tasted like coffee even though i put one spoon of coffee in a cup of tea

i've had a particular mix of tea and espresso and quite liked it

@AaroneousMiller Okay, it's been added (@)

but considering it was chai i'm not sure how much i tasted the tea versus the added spices

@UnrelatedString chai?

apparently the proper term is masala chai

2:29 PM
masala tea

that's one way to put it

?

i mean that's sort of a half translation since tea is a hypernym of chai in english despite them being cognates

@UnrelatedString ಠ_ಠ

@UnrelatedString what is hypernym

2:35 PM
hell i think i've seen some stuff labeled as "chai-flavored" that just has the spices characteristic of masala chai without having any tea in it

@PyGamer0 it's a synonym of hyperspace

?

ayyyyyyyyyyy golfposting is now in urban dictionary urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Golfposting
3

I didn't know this term.

@Adám I coined it

2:44 PM
Why isn't code golf there?

@Adám good question. Let's fix it
definitions for code golf please

> Code-golf is a competition to solve a particular programming problem in the fewest bytes of source code.

sounds good to me

The Wikipedia definition is actually incorrect:
> Code golf is a type of recreational computer programming competition in which participants strive to achieve the shortest possible source code that implements a certain algorithm.

that sounds an awful lot like an unobservable requirement
vtc for clarity

2:46 PM
I was going to add it, when it told me I had to sign in...

@UnrelatedString Agreed. Let's close down Wikipedia.
6

Ok, I've submitted.

@Adám good idea
@grandBagel cmon i was doing it
ah well

@Adám how much of this is wrong in your professional opinion?

The last word.

2:52 PM
ah good, thats what i thought too but i wasnt sure if i was missing anything else

@Adám Yeah, I agree. I don't think it has to be an algorithm.

i didnt know how to phrase it without being incredibly verbose
my question, i mean
idk

@AaroneousMiller okay I've added the eval as apol instruction.

This site is probably the easiest site to get the Matryoshka secret hat (trigger has been revealed) :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing Three down, two more to go.

2:57 PM
I've updated Wikipedia.
7

@Adám nice
cde glf

@PyGamer0 no, it's Pode Polf

cmc etiquitte is "just post one whenever" right

Yeah, you can post CMCs whenever you want

well, i want.
cmc: given two positive integers A and B, output all integers whose positive factors all lie between [A-B and A+B] inclusive. (if needed: a factor F of some integer K is an integer such that F times another factor = K)

2:59 PM
yup
