@pxeger Probably, although are you planning to add more features? If so, it might be worth waiting and bountying an answer that gives a more complete picture of what the language is like.
@Mayube It's harder when you don't type with home row and instead just move your fingers to the correct key
> Unfortunately there are too many neckbeard gatekeepers on stack overflow. Yourself on the other hand, have a wealth of knowledge and you generously share it with others. They need to be more like yourself.
i remember that one screenshot caird sent of someone on reddit complaining about it and you can see the peer pressure badge on the profile and Informed is their next available badge... lol
A lot of the cynicism higher rep users have is because of these low quality questions (not that it's a novice's fault that users before them posted such garbage, but you know what I mean)
yeah. unfortunately a reviewer's patience wears out eventually but to a new user it looks like the entire community is just as bad as someone who's gotten tired of crap at their worst
this is why i write template comments, so I can spend like 3 seconds looking at a garbage post and still give reasonably constructive and "nice" feedback on it lol
The video talks about how new users don't have the ability to vote to reopen their questions, but...it's their own question, why should they be allowed to vote to reopen that?
The obvious solution here is to genetically modify humans to be more rational and less stupid
also if you edit a question it automatically queues it for reopening
not that i'd expect someone like this to actually know anything about the system they're complaining about
@hyper-neutrino which is actually bad because half the time the edits aren't to fix the question it's to fix typos, or it's insufficient and only adds a few details, and then it just gets shot down in queue again, like this did
Perhaps putting it into the queue should be opt-in (it won't matter much here, but would probably save time on sites like SO with lots of stuff in the queues)
So many people post "How do I do <insert f*cking basic thing here that I could've googled in 10 seconds>?" questions, then get mad when people who see thousands of those questions a day don't want to help them
that first one is even worse than the average could have googled it in 1/20 the time it took them to write the question, they literally already know about python string splitting and somehow never realized the method can take an argument
One thing that did surprise me is that this answer on meta said that you're not supposed to open chatrooms to help OPs of closed questions out. Why's that?
@RedwolfPrograms If you don't want "toxic, overbearing gatekeepers", then go to one of the many places online that post programming help. But don't be surprised if the response is shit
Almost as though SO is designed to produce quality help
It's not like anyone paid for SO and then got yelled at, they're using this free site moderated by the community for nothing more than internet points and don't even bother reading the guidelines first
Anytime anyone complains about SO, it's always "Wah, people won't do my coding for me at high quality for free, they're so mean" and never actually legit criticisms of SO as well
Also, god it bugs me whenever people complain about the mods on SO. They are probably the best part of the entire site, and without them, the site would be yet another shitty internet help site filled with spam. High rep users? Sure, complain your heart out. Mods? No, they're the "good guys"
@cairdcoinheringaahing especially in triage often they just look too good to be in that queue :p more often they look way too low quality to not already be closed instantly lol
maybe i've just gotten lucky the past few audits tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ apparently it's worse on math.SE
That's sort of the point. Review audits are meant to catch robo-reviewers; if you're paying attention enough to notice it looks like an audit, you aren't the target
@Fmbalbuena Does "Brainfuck but with a lot of bugs" count? :P
@Fmbalbuena That wasn't my first bf derivative. BF derivatives are boring, no one really keeps them around on purpose. I'm still not sure why I actually wrote and published bwfuckery
@cairdcoinheringaahing I hate this guy so much. "Why do SO mods hate opinions? No one knows" No one huh? Guess this page doesn't actually exist huh? Might explain why this dude's never read it
