Code Me Cookies!

and GMC -> Give me cookies

why are y'all making cookies when we already provide you with cookies as a result of being part of the hivemind?

@PyGamer0 Ghat Mini Challenge?

Y'all should try them. You ever had Chocolate Chip Destroyer of Worlds flavour? Tastes a bit like peanut butter

1:01 PM
CMQ: How many Badges do you have?

Yuck! Bacon and sauerkraut cookies are the best.

@pxeger gnat Mini Challenge, when we go upvote everything :P

@math in 2 days i will get my first silver badge

@math 113

1:02 PM
what?

@lyxal that is, 1/27/85
and searching for 1 27 85 gives youtube.com/watch?v=Ag7rasPjvJ0

1/9/53

@math 65.99:

@pxeger I'm aiming for Fanatic too

What happened to the freehand circles?

1:03 PM
Time to turn off pxegers WiFi for a day :P

@lyxal 1 divided by 27 divided by 85¿

@pxeger w...why'd you censor the fact that you got Notable Question?
@PyGamer0 gold/silver/bronze

@lyxal wow

@lyxal bruh i was joking

@math 9/84/255 here

1:03 PM
@lyxal We don't talk about that...

@cairdcoinheringaahing wow

@PyGamer0 you really aren't

@lyxal No, they were

@lyxal I once had an... incident... because of an insufficiently censored screenshot. Now I censor anything and everything unless I'm confident it's either publicly available already, or I definitely want to make it publicly available forever

@lyxal ¿¿

1:04 PM
@PyGamer0 you're PyGamer0
@cairdcoinheringaahing uh, buddy, you're getting confused...they ain't JoKing ;p

@lyxal ok so?

@pxeger Just always send a black image - fully censored :P

@PyGamer0 this is JoKing
clearly not you

@lyxal Not now they aren't, but they said they were
For all we know, JoKing underwent mitosis to produce PyGamer0

@cairdcoinheringaahing you tellin' me pygamer is one of JoKing's alts?
@cairdcoinheringaahing it's 11:06pm Caird. I don't need that sort of picture at this time of night

1:06 PM
@lyxal I want to curse you with bad dreams :P

@lyxal nah i hit spacebar by mistake deleting the entire room

@cairdcoinheringaahing yesn't

@cairdcoinheringaahing I have accidentally sent my math homework several times.

Besides, pretty sure all Australians can undergo mitosis, right?

1:07 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing you're thinking of the Kiwis next door

The Kiwis Next Door sounds like an atrocious sitcom

No, Kiwis lay eggs

@lyxal why did you search that?

That's what the "kiwi fruit" is

@math because I had to get the sum of 1+27+85
@cairdcoinheringaahing can you are don't? ;p

1:08 PM
@lyxal Hey!

@lyxal Sorry, I'm afraid I can't are don't :P
Got to make sure this room isn't filled with fake news :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing no, you're Caird
stoopid idiot not knowing your own name
smh

@lyxal That's why it's always good to have this:

CMC: Given an integer g and two integers x and y, g times replace x and y with their gcd and lcm.

Q: How to determine if a number is a prime with regex?

kitlite I found the following code example for Java on RosettaCode: public static boolean prime(int n) { return !new String(new char[n]).matches(".?|(..+?)\\1+"); } I don't know Java in particular but understand all aspects of this snippet except for the regex itself I have basic to basic-advanced ...

found it on so
ok, i'm not going to post an answer

1:13 PM
@math bah
real gamers use this:

i can't ignore that

@lyxal what's that arrow thingy?

@math APL

> Reasons why caird bad

1:15 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Number 15: Burger King foot lettuce

@Ausername oh wow you actually implemented that

Bring it on @lyxal :P

Yep

:58452488 I used MS Paint

While I was doing the UTF thing

1:16 PM
huh
wow\
that'll teach me to give you unrestricted access to my site ;p

You haven't seen my "Reasons why Lyxal is extra bad" file yet :P

Which I need to redo anyway because for some reason spaces weren't in the codepage.

@cairdcoinheringaahing let me guess....the file size is 0 bytes right?

@lyxal yup, they're all contained in the NTFS alternate data stream dont_let_the_hivemind_see_this

CMQ: math or maths

1:18 PM
maths

maths

Mathematicalismisticimania!
@lyxal (mama)

1:19 PM
That's what you call it when you learn about radicals 😎

@cairdcoinheringaahing stop being irrational

stop being imaginary

Fixed the space thing

@math go commit differentiation

You're just mad I'm a complex person :P

1:20 PM
without breaking anything else

@cairdcoinheringaahing get real

@cairdcoinheringaahing ^

'night

yeah same
'night

\o

1:21 PM
afternoon

dammit my GPG keys have expired

1:40 PM
CMQ what do you say now because lyxal's not there

@math laxyl
or licks-all
not likesal

maybe he's still there...

yep he is

how can you see it actually
?

1:50 PM
@math wdym

if he's there or not?
oh there

oh he is last seen at 38s ago

9s now
@lyxal shouldn't you be sleeping?
looks like he's sleeping
but his computer still on

@math why onearth would someone turn on their computer

idk

2:04 PM
@math The reason why he insists on likesal is because he wants us to like all the things he does

was playing around with regex compression, managed to make a 265511 char regex for all primes under a million
would be 538467 chars if just joined all with |

@math I almost never leave the room, because my laptop stays on overnight so it always registers a heartbeat :P

Do I show online all day / night? I don't leave my computer on
I don't think it ever shows the animation of me leaving/joining

2:28 PM
@pxeger you can't see yourself leaving, can't you?

no, but when you join a new room it shows you joining

Yes true

@pxeger Yeah, I've seen you leave/join

hmm ok

@lyxal :( What about 32?

3:02 PM
I just discovered you can have multiple git stashes
Where has this been all my life

It's always been there

It's just been...stashed away

3:24 PM
Announcement: The first semi-stable release of Attempt This Online (my TIO clone) is out!
14

3:35 PM
@hyper-neutrino I like your explanation videos for your answers to my challenge :D

@cairdcoinheringaahing TIO output for n=34 is done :-)

@xash Yeah, I saw :P I have to wait a couple of days to start the bounty tho (SE restriction), so I'll do those over the next fortnight or so :)

Morning!

@cairdcoinheringaahing I think it may be the first time I've actually heard someone pronounce "caird coinheringaahing" tbh :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing \o/ glad you do :p yeah i figured it was worth a more in-depth explanation cuz the way you did the (2,2,2)-2 chain is really clever and also a bit tricky to explain on text
the alternative was a shitty freehand drawing again xD

3:37 PM
@hyper-neutrino Ooh, I do like shitty freehand drawings :P

i will also make one then :p

I thought I was going to get rickrolled :P

@NewPosts I'm 100% certain this is a dupe of something, but none of my dupe tools can find anything :(

I answered a very similar question just yesterday, is that the one you're thinking of?

No, I can picture one that's basically Redwolf's challenge exactly, down to using x as the "terrain"
I need to add an explanation to my answer to that one actually :P

3:44 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Perhaps you simply think you saw it before because Redwolf's thoughts accidentally got transferred to your mind :P

That must be it :P

@math 300

oh i have 69 badges

@math maths

@hyper-neutrino You have 195 bronze badges

3:53 PM
oh... then 69 distinct badges, i guess :P
257 total

@hyper-neutrino Nice :P

Looks like most people here have a british accent
maths

Former british colonies also typically pronounce it as "maths" as well, barring a few exceptions

i say maths because matt says maths

I think "math" is more common here (Canada, former British colony here o/)

4:03 PM
@hyper-neutrino On the other hand, I'm not sure why I just spent 20 minutes watching an explanation of my own code :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing should we invent hyper-roll?

also my audio was a bit garbage lol
better than the brachylog video but still too quiet
on both the jelly and vyxal videos

@hyper-neutrino Yeah, I turned my volume up through my headphones and nearly had a heart attack when someone pinged me and it sounded like a gunshot :P

ouch :P

4:06 PM
"Oh, this is an interesting look into how HN approaches a new challe- THUNK- nge" :P

when i watched the brachylog video i made sure to mute my chat tab first cuz i turned my computer volume up from 12 to 50
and i probably would've instantly passed away if someone pinged me while my volume was that high

pajonkcode-golfsequence Do I flip the side? Introduction When writing on a piece of paper folded \$n\$ times you have \$2^{n+1}\$ sides available to write on. When writing on those sides, you can imagine the following sequence of actions (for \$n=2\$): write on the first side and fill the whole side, ...

jelly chain separator dictates the arity of the new chain and the first chain always starts variadic right?

The first chain's arity is based on the arguments passed, yes

okay cool

4:17 PM
Except for quicks-on-chains, those are weird

like ... mu euro ?

Yes
It's why you can do ,µ/ when only passed a single argument

hm, okay. what does the chain separator mean in that case - arity of the chain being quicked or the proceeding chain arity?
actually this gets a bit more confusing with like link1 mu link2 mu tie

I think that technically speaking, the chain separators are all varidic, until they're processed. Meaning that, because / requires a dyad, it forces the µ to form a dyadic chain. In normal chaining however, they get "processed" immediately (as there's no quick to deal with), which forces their arities

hm.. okay. so if we used the nilad chain separator on , oslash / it would still work just the same?

also, added a shitty freehand drawing to my jelly answer xD

@hyper-neutrino ...no, huh

wack
let's move to JHT and try to figure this out :p

@hyper-neutrino +1 , very good :P

WW is on 66662 XP ... so close :p

4:26 PM
> XP

shh
didn't you know? you get XP by slaying "monsters" (challenges) and you can spend it to "enchant" (bounty) answers

But you can't spend it to get shiny badges :(

xash's answers often are

I still wonder if there's a simple way to generate a given that it doesn't have to be the largest
like, making a=k! means a is not coprime to all a+2...a+k, but then a+1 doesn't work, so it feels like there should be some easy modification of that to make it work

4:33 PM
just multiply by -~a, no?

no, a is already fixed at k!
a and a+1 will always be coprime
so a+1 needs to be not-coprime (is there a word for that?) to a+k

@rak1507 relatively composite?

yea that works

@pxeger Nice job on Attempt This Online? Next up: Run That Online

I gave Redwolf that name I'm afraid

4:45 PM
How about Endeavour This Online? :P

I'm not sure that has such a ring to it
lol

Execute Me Online! Catchy name, even though it sounds like a site you would go for instant death.

and its acronym would be EMO which is fitting

I dunno about that one either
hey Redwolf can I have that name back? (/s)

4:52 PM
what about 'run on the internet', it has a nice tasty acronym

ROTI?

What about "Random Internet Code Executor" :P

@RecursiveCo. yeah

I don't think I'll get a good domain name called rice, unfortunately

^ Got the idea from my other not so good sandbox challenge. I posted a new one rather than editing it.
Let me know if I haven't thought of some really easy ways to solve it.

On challenges, why does nobody seem to ever know how to optimise HTML answers? The amount of fuckery you can get away with is insane, but noone ever does it the first time

5:54 PM
If you're talking about my answer, it's because I don't know HTML very well :P
@rak1507 Try Any Code Online

nice

@user Taco Tuesday, where President Business is going to take over the world have fun!

@cairdcoinheringaahing CMC: Get from Roti to Trinity, Newfoundland in 6 clicks

6:20 PM
Morning again!

Afternoon

Flight back to Austin leaves in about an hour and a half, working on a dark theme for my online interpreter

TNB is in a perpetual cycle of resetting back to morning. We have been stuck on the same day since March 2020.

@RedwolfPrograms I still have an unanswered clarification for that ! :P
Also, does the non-space thing have to be a character, or can we use a digit (that is of an integer type)?

@RedwolfPrograms idk why but every time I see someone with a screenshot showing how much rep they gained, I get a rush of dopamine myself
:P

neuron activation

The 19 notifications was more what I was surprised about lol

@pxeger Nice!
I closed my tabs, but it was something like roti -> tortilla -> indigenous peoples of the Americas -> smallpox -> trinity

@Ausername No it isn't lol
I'm not going to have the user enter their credentials

6:27 PM
Is there an SEAuth or something?

Not sure
I doubt it

Or do we just email you with a screenshot of our account proving it's us? :P

Yeah, SE provides a way to log into specific sites through your SE account
For example, SEDE
But I think you'll need permission from SE to use that

stackapps.com is how you'd get that, right?

I'm not entirely sure how it'll work, but I have a few ideas

6:30 PM
I don't know of any non-SE site that uses it tbh

The API has a way to use things that require auth, but it might not have its own login thing

You could create a chat room where people post a certain string to verify they have access to that SE account, and then monitor for those messages

That doesn't work for users below 20 rep

do we care about users below 20 rep?
I say no

But even if you do verify us, there's always a chance that someone with lots of rep unintentionally blows up your server, or their account falls into someone else's hands, so I'd suggest keeping the 60-second limit for everyone
^^ I think we can make users get a couple upvotes first

6:33 PM
just edit your profile

But then I wouldn't have an air of mystery about me :P

then edit your chat profile :P

Honestly, I think the only thing user profiles on an online interpreter should be used for is for language developers

even bigger brain idea: change your username
@cairdcoinheringaahing times running a specific language? sort of like random fun stats? :P

I guess you could get a verification code and then post that in a room with a bot that looks at those codes and either gives you access or nukes your fridge

6:36 PM
I don't know about y'all, but if Dennis had finished the TIO user accounts so that creators could auto-update their languages, it'd take a lot of the "strain" off of TIO not updating

@pxeger ^ when?

?

User accounts, I mean

@user Just make Redwolf mod, then he can look at your CGCC email vs the email you use :P

ಠ_ಠ

6:37 PM
@user oh uh... it's not really on my todo list yet

I will just expose an API endpoint using my account that checks your PII and compares :galaxybrain:

11

Hell, SE should employ Redwolf, then he can add a thing like "Collectives" for users who contribute to his interpreter :P

Hivemind collective

eww
I suppose you could create a ATO StackOverflow Team and get users to join that temporarily to verify their identity

6:38 PM
SE should very obviously hire a CM for each site, chosen from the users of that site, specifically to work with them :P

@pxeger would probably break ToS though

SE has the money for 170+ new CMs, right? :P

@pxeger Why not a simple chatroom?

that's what I suggested originally!

Oh lol
I've been ninja'd twice then

6:40 PM
lol

now at 124,999 rep... pity there's no easy way to get 1 rep

Find an answer you downvoted and get HN to delete it :P

lol

@Neil Edit an answer someone downvoted, get them to remove the downvote, then downvote a bad answer

6:53 PM
otherwise they can't remove the downvote

Oh, is this editing one of your own answers?

@user It'd just increase it
Not get rid of it
I think I can get this to work
It's also an official solution, which is nice

7:10 PM
Oh ok

> 12,699
nice
Getting back to a multiple of ten is going to be a bit annoying

Delete your account to get 0 rep

1 rep*

That's if you're suspended

Create a new account, merge it and steal its 1 rep :P

7:13 PM
INFINITE REP lol

Mods hate this trick

I am going insane. Please will someone help me work out what this font is?
Firefox claims it's Cantarell, but it plainly isn't

source?

Oh hi Wezl

7:26 PM
It's system-ui on my Firefox (version 90.0b6 on Arch Linux with KDE)
but I cannot find any real font that it corresponds to

Why not let the mystery be? Doesn't look like a great font anyway

oh hello user
ikr it has curves >:P

@user hang on that's not even the right one oops

lmao

7:27 PM
Getting on a plane now, see y'all o/

have a safe flight o/

Make sure it's a 3d plane, the 2d ones are a bit tricky

yeah that looks a lot different

@user very wise

@pxeger Subscribe for more bad punny jokes

7:29 PM
actually no it's not

@cairdcoinheringaahing what was your name's pronunciation again?

? I didn't see the deleted message, not sure what it's not

i think i mentioned cared coin-hearing-aaa-hing in the past but idk if you said that was right/wrong / what it should be

@hyper-neutrino Either like the letter, or "klo-ee" :P

. - . should've clarified , username

7:30 PM
But if you mean caird, then I say "cared coin-herring-aaa-hing" :P

@user it's not "suspiciously similar to Noto Sans but with xxx [edit: and yyy] [edit 2: and zzz]"
because I gradually noticed that it's quite different to Noto

@pxeger so the canon version is wrong lol
i remember the "where did your name come from" post from caird

;(

but i think i have discussed pronunciation with them in the past before lol :P
wait why did i say "hearing"???
yeah i pronounce "herring" too

@hyper-neutrino I like the "Oh, nice name, did your parents pick it out for you, cringe" memes that you get in LGBTQ meme spaces :P

7:34 PM
I too enjoy subtle elitism over extremely petty things

Tbf, meme elitism is the best and only good form of elitism :P

actually, ironic self-referential elitism is far better than all other elitisms

...I may have walked into that one :P

(I couldn't quite tell if that's the joke you were trying to make as well, but :)
)

@pxeger Well that's one way to get around the smiley face in parentheses issue

7:37 PM
yes

(no one link the relevant xkcd please)

solution: (text in parentheses (;))

(assert (= (lisp) (great)))

but = only works for numbers ;)

guess lisp isn't great

7:40 PM
Assertion failed

@Wezl But I'm using hypothetical lisp for argument's sake only
None of this vulgar common lisp rubbish

pxeger's own dialect

Imagine not using Theoretical Lisp, and actually using it for practical applications :P

@pxeger *finds hypothetical lisp for argument's sake only's mailing list and complains*

@pxeger I made a new theoretical lıʇɥd
