A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

BubblerSpotify Shuffle (music playlist shuffle algorithm) code-golf random Background Perfect shuffle algorithms like Fisher-Yates shuffle don't produce great results when it comes to music playlist shuffling, because it often produces clusters of songs from the same album. In an attempt to solve this...

@NewSandboxedPosts Random fact: I was once asked to implement this algorithm in an online job interview.
What happened with those downvotes in the sandbox?
I saw several consecutive proposals receiving downvotes w/o constructive comments

Howdy y'all. I'm thinking of posting this soon. Any ideas for improvement?
@Jono2906 How about the input AB(CD{EF]GH or AB(CD}EF]GH?
@Bubbler I'll add those now
Oh, so we ignore ()s in terms of matching brackets.
@Bubbler Yeah. I mention that this challenge is about grouping brackets []{}
@Jono2906 Then a follow-up question: how about AB[CD{EF]GH, AB[CD[EF}GH, and AB{CD]EF]GH?
09:41
@Bubbler I'm going to have to think about that
Because the rules of the challenge and Keta's interpreter differ
I initially thought the algorithm to be: scan left to right, maintaining a stack of open brackets. If I meet a non-matching closing bracket, close the open one(s) until they match or stack is empty. If the stack is empty, put a matching open bracket at the beginning instead. If the stack is nonempty at the end of the string, close all of them.
@Jono2906 I believe ^ is more logical and actually interesting.
Also, for the tags, would work.
10:29
@Bubbler that actually does sound like a better idea.
I'll have to look into that tomorrow (AEDT tomorrow)
Thanks for the feedback Bubbler! I appreciate it a lot!

Q: Thank you, Shog9

Mithical@Shog9, a longtime Community Manager here at Stack Exchange, has just Tweeted that he is no longer working at Stack Overflow: @shog9: Well... I suddenly find myself in need of work. If anyone's hiring: C++, JavaScript, C#, SQL + solid background in social software, community-driven developm...

@Bubbler turns out that's what the algorithm was anyway!
Sandbox bot is about to tell you guys about a thing in a few. Please take a look
Thought I should ask about this here before posting anything to the sandbox. I've just found this clever project which lets one control a flight in the game Kerbal Space Program using (theoretically) any language capable of sending TCP packets. There are libraries provided for C#, C++, Java, Lua and Python
Would a code golf challenge using this be acceptable here or would the necessity of setting up a modded installation of KSP be too far from standard code golf?
21:02
I don't think so. There's been other TCP challenges
You might have to go the extra mile to validate answer though
The modded KSP requirement might garner you a few downvotes though. Will be tricky to write well

VeskahHe. Might. Go. All. The. Way. Touchdown! [in-progress] Premise: In American Football, a team has to drive up the field to their opponent's end-zone to score points. But here's the catch, they have 4 tries (called downs) to go at least 10 yards to gain a new set of downs. They repeat this unti...

@Veskah I don't know if you've played the game, but I was thinking of making the requirement be something like 'achieve a minimum 100 km orbit using a specific built-in ship', so that the challenge is writing the code, not designing a craft. I'll write up a rough draft and submit it to the sandbox. Just wanted to make sure this wouldn't be seen as a definite close by the community. Thanks for the input
@senox13 Another issue is that it requires a non-free product for participation.
21:25
@Adám Ah, hadn't even considered that aspect. Is that explicitly against the rules or more just looked down upon?
21:59
@senox13 I don't think it's explicitly disallowed, but that's probably because noone has made a challenge that requires using non-free products yet

Hey, so what is the difference between 05AB1E legacy and new 05AB1E?
I mean, why need to completely branch into a new language?
Also, what was the main driving force behind the idea to make the split?
23:31
@Jono2906 I meant AB[CD{EF]GH --> AB[CD{EF}]GH because [] already match, not [AB[CD{EF}]]GH.
@Bubbler ah. I thought that's what I'd done.
Ah.
That'll need fixing
Hmm
Anyone here want to join for a game of contact?
@DJMcMayhem How do you play?
We'll explain it

Q: In any compiled language, generate as much assembly as possible in under 80 characters

Sapphire_Brickchallenge: for any selected compiled language, write a program that compiles to as many lines of assembly as possible.
