ooh, I see ES2018 is getting .NET-style lookbehind assertions
@Neil Has gotten.
well, it's not widely available
@Neil Really? It's in the latest versions of Firefox and Chrome.
@Neil Did you see what I did with your 36 byte suggestion?
well it doesn't even seem to have reached developer edition yet, I just get invalid group if I try
@Neil Of what? Firefox or Chrome?
00:42
firefox
ah, I thought there must be a way to avoid that duplication - an atomic group does the trick, very nice

Yay I did a lot of golfing today
Anonymous
@Neil Wow, ECMAScript is about as bad as C++ with year versioning :P
@MilkyWay90 what's with that code
just a bunch of moves?
@MilkyWay90 tio the bruteforcer pls
@MilkyWay90 I noticed you were talking about brute forcing to come up with this code. Would you be able to perfectly optimize it if you calculated an inverse for the PRNG function? I've done that with a few PRNGs.
02:22
@Deadcode well iirc python's prng has a massive state which you can set the entirety/most of with a seed
which is how the Seed answers were made
@MilkyWay90 Did golfing, or brute-forcing with larger numbers? :P
@Quintec well. the programs are shorter
02:37
@Deadcode guess so
for the tio link
Is that preferred to using URL-shorteners?
oh i dunno
The code is here
In case the TIO link is too long
It is probably highly ineffecient
Please improve it when you have the chance, if you want to
@Deadcode Not really, but there's this
Well I mean for chat. There's no reason to use shorteners in questions/posts.
> are often used to obscure spam or malicious links.
Still applicable somewhat
Personally in chat/comments I always just put it into bit.ly
02:42
You can edit the URL of most shorteners to preview the link.
@Quintec's correct
Example use of bit.ly: I just found out that unsafe code in C# can actually be much faster. safe version / unsafe version (those are both shortened TIO URLs)
The canonical PPCG complexity of a particular computational problem is the number of bytes PPCG can solve the problem with plus one, given the language used to solve the problem is one of the top 256 most popular on PPCG.
@Deadcode Oh nice
I wish bit.ly added a feature where it tells you where you are going and you have the option to cancel going to the link
@noɥʇʎԀʎzɐɹƆ You'd also need a time index, because the list of 256 most popular probably changes over time.
@MilkyWay90 It does. Just add a + at the end of the link.
02:50
oh
I made another bruteforcer It takes really long, but it results in less bytecount at the end
@noɥʇʎԀʎzɐɹƆ Popular isn't an objective winning criterion :P
@Deadcode The problem is that takes me 3-4 extra clicks, right-click + copy link + paste link... I'm lazy. :P
@Quintec There's probably a browser plugin to automate adding the +
True, and if not it wouldn't take long to code... but how much time am I really saving doing this? Lemme waste another 5 minutes calculating it. :P
03:00
@Deadcode It would be funny if the link you sent us was a shortened url
@MilkyWay90 how to stop it
03:53
@ASCII-only Do ^C
Be careful, ^C might only make it angry

Q: Match strings whose length is a fourth power

A: List of bounties with no deadline

Adám50 – 400 rep for an APL answer I will reward 50 rep if all of the following conditions are met: The answer is in Dyalog APL Classic/Unicode/Extended, APL2, APL+, APLSE, GNU/APL, Sharp APL, sAPL, SAX, NARS, APLX, A+, dzaima/APL, ngn/APL, APL\iv, Watcom APL, or APL\360.* The challenge had no pre...

10:14
@Adám because the question is community wiki. why that is, idk
@dzaima Oh, that was because originally, a summary of bounties was included in the question, so just like everyone could answer, they had to be able to edit.
@dzaima What do you think of the bounty, btw?

Q: School moving out

Luis felipe De jesus MunozFor some years now, the number of students in my school has been growing steadily. First the number of students was increased by classroom, but then it was necessary to convert some spaces for some groups to give classes there, such as the gym stands or, this last course, up to the broom room. L...

14:31
@Adám eh, it's kind of boring to give rep just because one knows APL
@dzaima I don't understand. Did you mean "get" rather than "give"?
@Adám I meant as in you giving rep, but replacing with get also works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@dzaima Lots of bounties are for specific language answers only.
@Adám but most have a difficulty factor other than just the language (or the language is the difficulty factor, but I don't think that's what you've intended)
15:04
Yesterday, I found out that I was misinformed: in contrast to my next door-neighbor, fiber-optic internet is available in my house. They installed it an hour ago; it achieves 60 / 10 Mbps down/up, with 12 ms latency. That my not be much by today's standards, but I was using a 6 / 0.5 Mbps down/up, high-latency ADSL connection, that randomly stopped working well—or at all, like right now—sometimes for months at a time.
I had never even tried internet this fast before. Now I have it in my house. I am literally crying out of happiness.
If you never typed into your SSH terminal and had to wait for seconds for the characters to appear on the screen, you may not understand, but working on TIO was considerably less fun that way...
Nice! Congrats and welcome to the future!
15:23
@Adám Why "posted before 2019" rather than "posted before this date"?
@Dennis happens a lot here. Both my next-door neighbours had fiber optic internet for years before we managed to put it in our house, where the same company said it was unavailable.
@Quintec Then I'd have to reward every single APL answer going forward.
15:40
@J.Sallé They would have refused to put the router in my kitchen. Too far away from the technician referred to as aparato (device).
He also called the router aparato. It may be the same or a different kind of aparato.
@Dennis ROFL aparato is a great word to describe basically anything IT related
PPCG should make its own internet.
It means the same in Portuguese, but it's very underused IMO
@PhiNotPi only if the source code is in Jelly
@J.Sallé Danish has the cognate apparat which means device or "thingy".
@Adám same as in German, iirc
16:22
@NewBountiesWithNoDeadlines wait a second... yeah, I don't think that should be a CW...
it's CW because the question is CW?
yes, the question shouldn't be CW anymore ;)
any reason why not?
the question post itself isn't so much of a W that a bigger part of the C (with at least 100 rep, that is) needs to be able to edit it :P
16:40
@Riker Is CWfying undoable?
@Adám Yes, that's a mod power. Should I un-wiki the bounty thread?
@Dennis I think so. It was probably an oversight when the ToC was removed.
@Dennis Is that with a Wifi connection or wired? I have 35Mb down / 35Mb up / 3ms latency in Wifi (which I'm using most of the time), but 600Mb down / 300Mb up / 3ms latency when wired. (This is a FTTH connection.)
@Arnauld this is what I want in my life.
want/need
16:57
@Adám It should probably be re-added (not all bounties from the question were in the answer list), but a CW answer would suite that purpose better.
I've removed the wiki. I'll add the answer later, if nobody beats me to it.

Q: Data structures in Microcontroller

Alaa MomenHow to impelement list of element in micro such arduino and how to calculate its size !? need sd card or eeprom!? when I call elementKey The program have to return me values of A,B,C,D,E I have studied c and datastructures!

@Arnauld Wired. I haven't measured the WiFi yet.
@J.Sallé I think that Internet in France is rather efficient and cheap, compared to other countries. (I pay 40 EUR/month for the fiber connection, which comes with unlimited phone calls and tons of TV channels.)
@Dennis getting rid of the LBWND directory...
@NewMainPosts Maybe if we get a goofy design featuring something very sport-themed, that will discourage general programming questions support calls.
@Arnauld Similar here in the UK.
17:04
@Dennis Roughly the same over WiFi.
17:21
@Dennis 60 Mbps down in WiFi is pretty good. (Fun fact: on the same connection, my phone uploads faster than it downloads.)
Yeah, the WiFi is much better than with my old router, for local networking as well.
17:57
Wow, I'm jealous. I pay about 100USD for 150 down / 50 up, and that's a pretty good bargain.
I pay a little bit over 25EUR per month for (non-fiber) 12 down / 2 up (IIRC)... they haven't installed fiber here yet
I'm paying USD 32 per month, which is USD 3 less than I was paying for the ADSL connection.
18:12
Speedtest says 50 down, 20 up for my apartment. Internet is included in my rent so I don't know how much I'm paying for it, but I know I am.
who provides you the Internet?
also, I think you have the right to know what you're paying for
Elauwit, AKA Spectrum
but is it the apartment's owner who directly provides the service to you?
yeah, it's all wired together I assume
because, in our apartment, it's us who pay the ISP directly

CMP Best online regex tool for testing/learning. I've been using RegExr, and it's been working pretty well, just wondering if there's something better out there.
20:25
In addition to ^, any good online regex lessons with examples, exercises, etc.?
@AdmBorkBork Regex101 is another excellent one. Is there anything RegExr has that it doesn't?
@Quintec Regex101 has a quiz.
I learned a lot about PCRE doing that quiz.
Oh nice. I'll have to look that up later.
The cheatsheet on Regex101 looks more in-depth than the one on RegExr
regex101 also has site themes
so you can use dark mode
because they care :]
20:47
my only problem with regex101 is that it colors special chars by background rather than foreground, and i absolutely hate anything that does that

@MilkyWay90 y'know that new brute forcer? i don't think it'd work - it's not easy to find something with the exact tape needed (also btw... old brute forcer pls)
22:56
@Arnauld so, I see you're having some trouble with your Jelly answer over here... well... a few more approaches I've tried aren't much better...
btw, that approach you chose is very clever, no quicks involved at all :P

@EriktheOutgolfer wait really
If I want to give a multiline reply to someone's post, where's the best place to put that post so I can then link to it from a comment?
