10:00 PM
Quick, delete one to make Dennis a liar

actually, it's already 601

ngn
the average number of users for a programming language is <1

And I hope nobody but me can delete languages. :P

files lawsuit whoops, now you have to delete over 50 languages ;)

Pirated movies, music, and software is sold very publicly on the street here. But good luck with that lawsuit.

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

BeefsterMost Convoluted Stack Overflow popularity-contest crash It's not hard to overflow the stack. Infinite recursion is a piece of cake. Cyclic function calls aren't hard either. What's really a challenge is making code so convoluted that the stack overflows without it being obvious why. Objectiv...

The goal to a frivolous lawsuit isn't to win, but for the other person to lose.

so... looks like the defendant believes my attorneys are sub-par... :P

Disney tried that with a local brand that called Mickey that prints Mr. Mouse's head on everything they sell. Didn't achieve anything.

Let’s sue Oracle instead and get java taken down

the real reason is that some languages violate GDPR, that is, if you give them your personal data with a piece of text that obviously doesn't say "I consent to my data being given [...]" those languages still dare output your PII and then it can be sent god knows where

10:12 PM
So you can sue me on a continent I don't live on. Knock yourself out.

but your server still serves the EU :P

It's not about whether the EU considers itself competent in that matter. It's about whether I care.

hm...
asks EU to censor TIO until further notice

This violates Antarctic Law

Can the EU actually do that?
Russia can and has.
For reasons that have nothing to do with TIO itself.

10:17 PM
I believe it's pretty easy to make a new "TIO Censoring Regulation" if actual need arises, tbh

There's a huge gap between a frivolous lawsuit and new European law passed exclusively to bring down my website though.

although it will be named e.g. "EUShield Regulation" or something so that it doesn't target TIO by name
yeah, I might not even need to spend money on a lawsuit after all, although, to be frank, I'm not sure if EU will care even a little bit
it's not like EU spells justice
more like it doesn't really loathe getting ridiculously high fines :P

The maximum fine is 4% of turnover. Another reason not to bother with TIO. :P

The Classic 4% of 0 is 0 Defense

I don't think the EU can actually fine a server outside of its premises
it's like Chile trying to fine you for violating one of their laws right at the border while you're still in Peru where you haven't violated anything

10:33 PM
@EriktheOutgolfer it depends. there are international agreements

Anonymous
@EriktheOutgolfer If you are so concerned about accidentally typing all of your PII into TIO (along with a statement that it is in fact your PII and not random data), I'm sure Dennis would be happy to help prevent that by blacklisting your IP from TIO :P

and commit the heinous sin of eleven? ;)
don't worry, I don't generally put important PII in my clipboard... :P
also, yeah, I'm so energetic that I will just scrape every piece of my own PII that I can find then type all those MBs into some random text box in the server commonly known as tio.run and click some button with a circumscribed triangle pointing to the right for every chunk of oh-so-precious PII I type just because the server simply can't handle it all in a single request

11:00 PM
@Dennis Out of curiosity, where are the servers for TIO actually located? I'm guessing it's not south america.

I think it's North America
it's powered by DigitalOcean
so I guess US

Anonymous
DO has servers worldwide IIRC

Dennis runs TIO on his spare CPU cycles. If the load is large enough, he has to suspend Emotions.exe

I'd love it if TIO consoled me like "Oh, poor fellow, the task you've assigned me to do is just too exhausting, I can't really handle anything for more than a minute, sorry man." :P

11:18 PM
"Really, man? O(n^6)?"

@Veskah not even kidding, this is how I'd imagine an AI running off a CPU would work

CMC: Given the code (in a language of a choice) of a function that takes a natural number and does stuff, analyse its runtime complexity

@wizzwizz4 oi they fixed it

hm... how does one "analyze" 'its runtime complexity'...

Anyone know of any good low-system-requirements games that run on Linux
Other than Nethack, I've been playing all the nethack recently

11:27 PM
@Pavel terraria TIS-100

@Pavel Those unknown potions aren't gonna drink themselves

@ASCII-only I'm looking less intensive than terraria here

Zachatronic games make me feel inadequate

Also that
I've played all of 'em up to the point where I just can't anymore

@Pavel :/ so like... something that can run on an atom 8086 i guess
@Pavel EXAPUNKS?

11:28 PM
I actually cleared that
It's the only one I've completed

infiniminer?

I know! Tametsi!

@Pavel yessssss (although the render code used to use way, way more CPU than HexCells did. not sure if Eric's fixed that yet)

Well it doesn't matter if it lags since it's not realtime

I've played a hell of a lot of HexCells infinite

11:30 PM
@Veskah :|
i uninstalled once i got all the achievements
Tametsi levels are just more satisfying (HexCells needs slower generation so they get prettier levels)

The procedural generated ones are definitely not up to snuff, puzzle-wise, but it's a chill way to kill 30 minutes
Super Hexagon might have a Linux port

@Veskah 30 minutes O_o

A quick googal says it does

@Pavel oh. ichi (maybe) or 140 (definitely)

I'll check them out, thanks

11:34 PM
they are real-time though, might not be what you like. 140 is a nice minimalist puzzle platformer, ichi is a puzzle game where you draw lines to reflect the ball thing

@ASCII-only Eh, fire up some streams plus that and turn the noodle off

@Veskah noodle?

Brain
Slay the Spire is also pretty fun, drafting cardgame roguelite
Get dunked by some donuts
Legend of Grimrock 1 is a good dungeon crawler

@Pavel It would be if I had better internet and less blackouts. >_>
The servers are in New York, although DO has servers all over the world.

I still hold on to my claim. the nn in Dennis stand for Neural Network, I'm sure of it

11:56 PM
@Veskah Well if you think about it, Dennis has neurons, which are organized in some kind of network
So
Yeah

Now to figure out the rest of the letters
