@LuisMendo Sandboxed.
Anonymous
Actually nowadays I just make Travis automagically upload to PyPI on build successes :P
@Mego I hope it's only on the master branch
Q: What is this in your opinion?
Anonymous
@NieDzejkob Naturally :) Also only one of the environments in the build matrix does the upload so that I don't get like 6 simultaneous uploads
@cairdcoinheringaahing Some kind of street / road.
If it is intended to be a road, then it looks really good.
17:04
@Mr.Xcoder Good, that's what I'm aiming for :P
ಠ_ಠ SE mangles box drawing characters
Anonymous
@cairdcoinheringaahing Even in a code block?
Ouch :(
Anonymous
Strange
Anonymous
Complain on Mother Meta?
17:06
ಠ_ಠ SE shall use monospaced fonts for code blocks
My road now looks like this
Same here
writes a letter of complaint on Mother Meta :P
It's the use of the character ಠ_ಠ
The title should be "Please use monospaced fonts IN CODE BLOCKS!"
@cairdcoinheringaahing clearly part of a pacman map.
Worse :(
But it should look better on SE
@cairdcoinheringaahing Well since Pacman now ate every bit, probably better?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Mr. XcoderGenerate all square sub-matrices of a given size code-golf matrix array-manipulation You will be given a square matrix of integers M and another positive integer N, smaller than the size of M. Your task is to generate all square sub-matrices of M of size N. For the purposes of this challenge,...

@Mego No, I tried, it to me it's not a thing anymore.
Anonymous
@Pavel Huh. I dunno what Travis uses
17:19
"Best of PPCG 2017" ends tomorrow.
And I'm not winning anything. Best pull out some great posts this year :D
I am winning one category as far as I can tell (Gotcha caird! :P)
ಠ_ಠ
Although, most of my voted for are winning :P
ಠ_ಠ Bolded box drawing characters are shown as just normal box drawing characters
17:43
That was fun
Going to take my try at the PLQ
@Mego Can you help me out a bit more? I uploaded the package to pypi (and since removed it), but when I installed it, I could import the module, but the module was completely empty.
Anonymous
@Pavel I recommend looking at Seriously's setup
@Mego Thanks.
@Mego I seem to have everything except entry_points, but I should have that, right?
Do I need anything in __init__.py?
Anonymous
@Pavel entry_points is for console scripts, so you probably don't need it
Anonymous
17:55
@Pavel Blank should be fine
Hmmmmm
@Christopher PLQ?
@Mr.Xcoder programming language quiz
that's a lot of people asking what PLQ is o0
I am very surprised nobody cracked my latest submission yet
17:58
@Mego I also need a new name (i fucked up with PyPi), thoughts?
Anonymous
@Pavel entrypointer
cool, thanks
@cairdcoinheringaahing same :P
Anonymous
@Mr.Xcoder I immediately recognized it as almost-Objective-C :P
@Mego Damn, taken
18:00
the freaking clock in conways game is going to beat me in 2 categories
@Pavel P!Pwhy
Anonymous
@Pavel grand-entrance
@Christopher It is an outstanding answer
Still doesn't mean I can't be sad :P
Anonymous
Why can I think of names for Python packages so easily, but yet it's been 3 months and I still have no good ideas for PPCG v2 :/
@Mego :|
18:02
@Mego Seems pretty close, right? Except ObjC doesn’t have begin(
Anonymous
If we haven't come up with a good name by April, I'm just going to declare its name to be Programming Penguin & Code Goat
Anonymous
@Mr.Xcoder Wait a second...
Oh no... :C
RIP @Mr.Xcoder
He revealed too much
Anonymous
No, my thought was wrong, I think
18:04
hopes Mego didn’t get it
He could have let us assume it was a function, but no
@Mego It didn't work. Can you try? github.com/pavelbraginskiy/ismain If you give me your pypi username I can add you as an owner of startpoint
Anonymous
Also if my thought was correct, it would be a royal pain to test
Oh, crap, I commited the egginfo file
@Mr.Xcoder lol
18:05
i almost didn't get last place in the categories i was nominated for
^^^^ MWAHAHA
Anonymous
@Mr.Xcoder I think I know it
Let’s see... Uh oh
@Mr.Xcoder you realize we have reply button right?
18:08
@Christopher I do, I am just reluctant about pinging people just to say MWAHAHA
And also... mobile
Ah and ahh
My answer is going to be so lone :/
@Dennis @ThomasWard @ThomasWard @MartinEnder Can you give John Daintree write access to The APL Orchard?
1 moment
@Adám Two pings for Thomas O_o
very important person
18:10
@Mr.Xcoder Oops.
Ping Thomas Ward twice just to make sure he gets it!
@Adám they don't have a chat account, or even an SE account outside Stack Overflow, I don't think that's possible for us
I feel uncomfortable with so many mods :P
@Adám they need to visit the SE chat
or have an SE account
we can't create their access if they don't yet have a chat.se account
@Christopher Any reason why?
18:11
@ThomasWard OK, hang on.
@Mr.Xcoder not actually it was jjoke "|
@Adám we also can't give them just access with just an SO account since that sits on the chat.so system and not chat.se
@Mego I also gave you push access to the repository
(system forbids)
@El'endiaStarman and in turn, summon and unleash ALL THE EVIL DARKNESS UPON THE WORLD!
@ThomasWard Is just going to the chat room url enough?
18:12
@ThomasWard your avatar is so eye catching :P
@Adám he may need to register on a site
@Christopher supernovas will do that
@Adám they actually sound like one though :P
I'd suggest he just sign in on PPCG but
@ThomasWard He is on SO.
18:13
@Adám what?
Ok if Mego didn’t get it by now, their guess was probably wrong.
@Poke :P
@Adám SO is separate from the other SE sites.
The R16K1S60 is suprisingly good at golfing and general computation for a 16-bit computer built inside a game. If you go read the manual, there is a brainfuck compiler, for example. It's even more impressive that it does it with only 1024 bytes of RAM
God, this conversation is confusing :/
18:13
@Adám don't forget SO has its own site
@Mr.Xcoder WAIT, their guess??
@Adám chat.stackoverflow.com == SO
SO has it's own chat instance on chat.stackoverflow.com. Accounts there and on the rest of SE are separate.
@ThomasWard asks a christian to unleash dark powers
18:14
@Christopher Yes, I don’t wanna make any kind of gender assumptions.
@Adám have them reg / sign-in / link accounts with ppcg.
that'll give them a PPCG account we can use as the base.
I'm surprised that wasn't sorted out as part of the https move
then provide user profile URL here.
@Mr.Xcoder I think we can safely say the mego is male. He has mentioned things like his wife and his voice is definitely male
women can have wives too
18:15
Women can have wives
But I agree with the voice
^^^, ^^, ^
Yes but probability would lean towards someone with a wife is male
Personally, I tend to use gender-neutral pronouns for people on the Internet. And typically, I choose to use they/them/their.
@Mr.Xcoder Is that your new esolang? :D
@DLosc Lol no :)
18:16
@El'endiaStarman just be careful not to assume someone's plurality
:]?
I just agreed with those messages :P
Unless they themselves have stated their gender, I always use 'they/their/them'
@El'endiaStarman Same!
Interesting
@ThomasWard All set?
18:18
I’ve finished writing the Triangularity Esolangs article today, and its development is probably going to stagnate for a while.
ninja'd
I was thinking abut making this a pop-con, due to the nature of making a language. Thoughts?
That reminds me, I should write about 10 esolangs pages :P
@Adám done
Anonymous
18:19
@Christopher Also the fact that I've said I'm male on multiple occasions :P
@EriktheOutgolfer I'm aware. It was more of a joke than anything else.
> Your score is the total number of bytes required to solve these tasks.
I agree with that
@Mego that may give it away
@ThomasWard Thanks. He's our chief architect.
@ConorO'Brien whoa there. half the community here hates popcons. be careful
18:19
@Mego Also that you're Ryan R on GitHub
@Adám he needs to type something and say hi :)
he is listed as explicit write but i want to test
My argument that Mego could be female is steadily losing speed :P
@Poke you don't say :P
@cairdcoinheringaahing lol
Thats odd. On meta my rep is 131, but everywhere else it's 161. I'll just assume stack exchange had a hicup :P
Probably. I forgot browsers cache :P
I knew that Mego was a man but I forgot I was talking about a specific person so I used they, as I usually do on the internet
@DJMcMayhem Definitely
@ThomasWard oh, what a kind gesture to trash the messages for Adám
18:21
@Mr.Xcoder I think using they on the internet never hurts, even if you're fairly certain about gender
Yeah, sure it doesn’t
@Mr.Xcoder How dare you call Mego a man? What if they actually identify as attack helicopter?
@DJMcMayhem thats what they want you to think
Anonymous
@cairdcoinheringaahing I identify as a male robot penguin
@cairdcoinheringaahing ;-;
18:23
and i identify as a human
@Mego what do you mean identify. You are one
@Mego How do you feel about the use of the pronouns "he" and "him" when folks are referring to you?
you can infer the rest
@totallyhuman shh you robot
@Poke he said male robot
and?
18:23
he and him are male pronouns
Anonymous
@Poke I prefer "His Gloriousness", but I'll take what I can get :P
;)
Jul 8 '16 at 21:18, by Dr Green Eggs and Iron Man
I tried going outside once. The graphics were incredible, but the story line was horrendous.
@HisGloriousness hello
@Christopher Just gotta be careful not to offend anyone
This is a safe space, you know
18:24
@Mego My dad set up his iPhone so that Siri would refer to him as The Distinguished Mr. <last-name>
hahah
@Poke I identify as Brain-Flak
nice last name you got there, mr. djmcmayhem <last-name>
@DJMcMayhem Fiction usually tries to be believable. Reality? Not so much.
@Mego How about Thou Highest of Exalted Penguin Overloads? :D
Can we please stop this ridiculously off-topic discussion about online genders? :/ Thanks!
Anonymous
18:25
@DJMcMayhem Thank you for the suggestion :)
@EriktheOutgolfer i usually do that when there's useless junk involved wiht my convos :)
besides, it helps to just throw things away when you're done with them, leaves less litter :p
@DJMcMayhem The Distinguished Mr. DJMcMayhem Sr.? :D
;-; It would be The Distinguished Mr. Mr. Xcoder for me
@Christopher Speaking of which, WW and I have been working on the new pain-flak
If you have any thoughts on it
@DJMcMayhem :}
hahahahah
ahahahahahahahhahah continues to laugh with pain inside his soul and the reality of what he did come crashing in
@DJMcMayhem but sure! link the github
18:27
The interpreter for it is IMO waaaaay cleaner than the Ruby interpreter. It's just like 100 lines of python or so, and the nesting is super simple when each atom is a custom object that execs it's own arguments
OOP FTW
The github?
Anonymous
The Distinguished Mr. <last-name>, Highest of Exalted Penguin Overlords
@Mego kina plain if you ask me
Anonymous
18:28

@Christopher Here you go. Design thoughts in TTS as usual
@Mego If you're anything like me, that's enough of a reason in and of itself. :P
'Cause why not? :P
Anonymous
@DJMcMayhem Why do you think I did it? :P
18:29
> (currently unnamed)
That's just the repo name cause I had to pick something
Anonymous
Anything that makes my wife question her decision to marry me is a great idea :D
5
I would do The Distinguished Mr. <last-name>, king of dad jokes, ruler of Penguins, king of PPCGv2
@DJMcMayhem :O that looks really clean
my iphone referred to me as "Most Evil One". But... :P
now I got rid of it, so my phone doesn't call me anything.
Anonymous
@ThomasWard I'm assuming it just did that on its own when your eyes turned all laser-y
18:30
@Christopher King of dad jokes? I've never seen Mego make a joke, let alone a dad joke
@cairdcoinheringaahing have you read anything he just said
@Mego Oh most definitely. it also probably heard me unleashing curses and hexes against certain individuals and started referring to me as evil as well, but
i no longer have an iPhone so :)
@Mr.Xcoder Thank you! If you want to see a fully working regular brain-flak interpreter, revision 3 is neater without the reversing stuff
@LuisMendo I'm afraid I'm gonna have to guess your password then XD
@DJMcMayhem gave idea for name
18:32
@DJMcMayhem I'm not sure, but I think I hate you for having code that clean :/
@ThomasWard reffering to me as evili no longer heaven iPhone 10/10
The first few messages in these are brilliant :P
Anonymous
@cairdcoinheringaahing I mostly make programming jokes
@Mego so do I. Here's one: Java

18:36
my eyes are burning

My cat's litter box looks better than most mobile apps
I don’t see how that is programming-related :P
@cairdcoinheringaahing One nice thing about doing it OOP is that there are potential major optimizations that could be done. For example, a monad like "(" + "()" * 1000 + ") during the parse state could simply be flagged as constant, and then the exec function can simply return push(1000)
Anonymous
Dec 31 '17 at 16:38, by Mego
If you do change your username, it should be to something super heinous, like "PHP did nothing wrong"
Nov 30 '15 at 21:56, by Calvin's Hobbies
> All messages are henceforth forbidden in this chat room. Go run around outside. - 4m ago by Alex A.
18:37
Now most of the overhead of running it comes from the first parse up front, rather than parsing it as it runs
@EriktheOutgolfer flags then self flags
deletes both messages, suspends both flaggers
you can only use italics
grabs popcorn
18:37
that's called a timeout
Actually, for that matter, any number of () nilads in an argument can be made constant, since they don't affect state and order doesn't matter
@ThomasWard contacts CM team about mod abuse
@Mr.Xcoder vtc because pop looks like popcon
Anonymous
@EriktheOutgolfer The CM team gives Thomas a wide berth. They're afraid of his laser eyes.
watches as The Great and Powerful Shog comes forth and yells about the flaggers abusing flags to begin with
18:38
Only on PPCG there is this misconception that all pop-cons are bad :(
misconception?
This is great :P Most people are using italics and DJ's just explaining how the new BrainFlak works :P
@Christopher yes
@ThomasWard summons jonskeet
divides by zero, ends existence, reboots from clean backups
18:39
eh i'd take monospace over italic
ANYWAYS, i'm done for now.
Anonymous
@Mr.Xcoder Not all pop-cons are bad. There's just only been ~3 pop-cons that were good (that I can think of right now).
@Mego Haha, that took me back to this top quality joke :P
@Mego thanks
dare they, how do they support a community, even letting offensive content such as "P*P is good" reside in the catacombs of their servers
18:39
@Mego That’s literally what I said, isn’t t?
let's not start arguing about popcons again
people make the same arguments every time
Did anyone argue? :P
and nothing changes
Anonymous
@Mr.Xcoder There's a difference between "not all popcons are bad" and "literally every single popcon, with maybe 3 exceptions, sucks"
not yet
18:40
@Mego Oh, is mine one of them?
@Poke Everyone knows that pop-cons are bad. The question is: Should we bring back ? :D
@cairdcoinheringaahing no
banning it is exactly one of the reasons we graduated at all, I think bringing it back may be seen as some kind of "revolution" to CMs
Anonymous
@AdmBorkBork Palette swap (American Gothic/Mona Lisa), all-colors images, and patch the image are the 3 I was thinking of
@EriktheOutgolfer code-trolling or design. They choose :P
18:43
@cairdcoinheringaahing ಠ____ಠ I literally disagree with every word in that sentence.
unlike the real world, it's very easy for them to just type one line and erase us from this world
@Mego his is Patch the paragraph
@Mego Those are the top three, I'd agree. Mine was a take off of the last one, Patch the Paragraph.
@EriktheOutgolfer and send the site into cyber-oblivion?
ninjango'd

@EriktheOutgolfer I somehow completely missed that one. It doesn't look terrible.
18:45
What a high praise
@Mego What about Write a language of unknown TC-ness?
Anonymous
@DJMcMayhem I don't remember that one, either
Anonymous
The most recent one (OISC) has potential to be pretty good
@DJMcMayhem I have to agree with WW and say that it was a meh one. Clever challenge though

@cairdcoinheringaahing I call BS on the Scheme-inspired one. It doesn't have proper tail-recursion!

I am 100% sure this is a variation of -flak.
why would I do something that obvious
This is brain-flak. — DJMcMayhem 19 secs ago

@Mr.Xcoder Curses, you beat me to the robbers thread by a few seconds!

Wait, Did i have 3 people crack in under a minute??

Yes
just post in the robbers' thread like everybody else has :P

18:57
Whoops. I thought commenting gave me dibs on it. Oh vell
@DJMcMayhem But you posted your comment after I answer on the Robbers' Thread.
It took me so long
to try and hide the fact it was brain-flak
and 4 people in under a minute
@Christopher BTW you should add "Cracked by ..." in the header
CMC: Answer a challenge in pain-flak with less bytes than the shortest existing brain-flak answer on the same challenge
Is it even possible?
18:59
@DJMcMayhem what is not a mini-challenge

@DJMcMayhem Easy, because you didn't specify which brain-flak answer :P
(I might make that an endless bounty if it turns out to be a good challenge)
