@dzaima Wat. How do you APL without {}

@Pavel ∇arg1 funcName arg2 ¶ arg1+arg2 ¶ ∇ :/
for addition
I know it's horrible

ಠ_ಠ

and you can't do that inline as far as I know
sAPL is a DOS emulator running super old APL AFAIK :p

@dzaima SOGL?

I think it would be easier to just throw together a keyboard layout and NGN.
@HelkaHomba His golflang

7:13 PM
2 ಠ_ಠ moved to Trash

@HelkaHomba made (well approximately) for ASCII art

PPCG would be simpler if everyone's username was the name of the last esolang they made.
4

But :(

@HelkaHomba I'm actually not sure if that would make me V or brain-flak

@HelkaHomba But then some of us wouldn't have names, and some of us would be named "White-Space-Fuck" or something equally godawful.

7:14 PM
@HelkaHomba no way I'm calling myself after that monstrosity

Although that would discourage the creation of these whitespacefucks.... hmmmm......

@DJMcMayhem The last one you git-pushed to I guess

But that changes all the time

DJMcV

Wait a second, they both have birthday posts...

7:16 PM
Vain-flak
4

hehe

10/10 --IGN

Hi

o/

Happy Birthday V was in March, but Surprise Party for Brain-flak was in April, so I guess I'd be Brain-flak

7:17 PM
Finally installed gentoo on my laptop after 13 hours of configuration and compilation :D

y tho

because
great the audio doesn't work

That's like the time when I installed Debian from source

well I guess I'm in for another hour of compiling firefox

The gentoo repos have a firefox binary you know

7:19 PM
@AdmBorkBork The one time, I assume? :p

@Geobits Yes. Once was enough. It was great fun and I learned a lot about how low-level OS stuff works, though.

Also my mouse (Logitech G502) doesn't work for some reason, and I have no idea why :/
oh well, it's the kernel

Having a computer that doesn't work yet is a Linux user's biggest thrill.
@Geobits But?

I would have no name, and that would be a shame.

@HelkaHomba Basically the reason arch exists.

7:34 PM
ugh I enabled everything that should be relevant for my USB mouse and it still doesn't work

@HelkaHomba also its a really great excuse when someone wants you to do work

Like any linux user has only one computer they could work on :p

@Geobits You would just be a downvote.

@HelkaHomba I'm fine with that, but it'd be a lot harder to ping me. Come to think of it, I like that too.

@▽

7:36 PM
That doesn't have the circle though :(

@Geobits "oh no my space bar isn't working what a shame" Meanwhile using copy-paste for spaces - true story

@Pavel ngn (and tryapl) come with on-screen keyboard.
@HelkaHomba I always push QuadR and QuadS in a single commit.

ooohh just looked at what ngn is. Will try to get it running on my phone offline after I finish homework..

7:53 PM
What do you all say? Would it be worth it to get Dyalog APL on Android?

@Adám I'd definitely love it, but I don't think I alone am enough :p

@HelkaHomba What qualifies as an esolang? If its any language on "Recreational" on TIO, I'd be changing mine every week :P

@dzaima Technically, it already has run on Android, but now officialy, an not with a proper interface.

@Adám :O

# lsusb
unable to initialize libusb: -99
halp

8:02 PM
@dzaima App drawer

@TuxCopter It's the kernel. Again.
g'night

9:15 PM
@Adám Sounds absolutely lovely.

9:31 PM
@TuxCopter audio stopped working on my firefox too, eventually tracked it down to them switching from gstreamer to ffmpeg

@Pavel @dzaima What would the interface look like? A full RIDE is a bit much, no? (Also, it is made with Electron, which currently is not supported on Android.) I envision a full-screen interface where you can only see the session OR one editor/tracer at a time. No language bar, as that would be on the keyboard.

I don't think any kind of graphics at all are needed other than a logo or two. Just a black on white text area that acts as an interactive session.
Preferably bundle with a eyboard layout that supports the APL key.
Electron seems way overkill

10:04 PM
An option for the keyboard part would be to make it as a custom language for Hacker's Keyboard. I agree with Pavel that really all that is required is a screen with REPL, and it'd already beat out anything else APL related on Android. Personally, I wouldn't use much more

Wonder if it could just run as a native terminal application, like it can on all Unixes.

@Adám If that would support Unicode it'd be fine (Terminal Emulator doesn't support unicode as far as I can see but there should be a way around that)

@dzaima Termux seems to support Unicode.

Termux is great

Huh, my phone doesn't seem to support Termux :/

10:20 PM
this is a nice example of lazy evaluation

Found a terminal which supports unicode. Should be sleeping right now though :p

10:40 PM
@dzaima said everyone ever while not going to sleep and using TNB instead

10:56 PM
o/ Mornin'

o/
7 PM here :P

@ATaco 00:00

9:02 AM

@ATaco hey taco
@Adám How about an easy keyboard that has all symbols but if you long press it tells you what that does

AutoHotKey sounds like it could be useful for this.

11:06 PM
what do you guys think of this dirty trick I did for the LCM challenge?
i;f(x,y){for(i=1;i%y|i%x;)putchar(i++%x?45:124);puts("|");y>0&&f(y,-x);}

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ RIDE has a setting which lets you hover the mouse over written (or language bar) glyph, you get a tooltip explaining it.

@Adám Cool
Hi Christopher,

We must confess it's still not fixed.. !

But as a great reader and because you never give up, you just won some stickers !
Can you send your postal address, we'll be happy to send you a bunch of stickers !

And soon, we'll fix the newsletter ;)

Cheers,

Thomas

Stickers!

Who doesn't love stickers!!

parents?

11:09 PM
@Christopher2EZ4RTZ send me your social security number, your mother's maiden name, credit card number and address and I'll send you stickers!

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ But a soft-keyboard (e.g. on Android) could actually work by adding one or two APL glyphs to each button's long-press pop-up.

@orlp Sweet! Good deal!
They actually run a store so the stickers are cool

stickers have negative value for me
imagine if someone dropped 100 kilos of stickers on your doorstep

I would have a sticker party And you would not be invited to my party -_-
What could you not do with 100 kilos of stickers???

Probably store than on the average property.

11:12 PM
What?

According to my math, that's 800000 stickers.
That's a lot of stickers.

I could raise a child with that many stickers.

That's just about 440m^3
The average UK household is 76m^2 in surface area.

I have ~500 acres to cover in stickers. Can you do the math to calculate the amount of area those stickers would cover?

You could easily lay your stickers out flat and have room to spare.
The average house however, needs to pile their stickers up 5 meters high.
Keep in mind, apparently your property is 26315 times the size of a UK household.

11:20 PM
My house is most likely that size bigger :P (big farm = big house)

for whatever reason I like saying "I never passed Grade 9 math" and watching people's reactions

"Who needs trig anyway"

Wow, so much, wow, much reaction

@ATaco "Only nasa"

11:23 PM
> need's

@HyperNeutrino But did you?

You didn't not never passed Grade 9 math

Wait I feel like I added to much not, dammit hyper am I doing your logic homework again?

11:26 PM
?
I feel like you screwed up your grammar there; either that, or you're using some ancient linguistic construct of which I have not heard.
oh ok
but yes, I have never passed Grade 9 Math

You skipped it didn't you

Was that a sassy mhm or a yes mhm

that was a yes mhm
when I say "mhm" it's either "yes" or "I agree"

11:34 PM
oh yeah "mhm" can also mean "okay"
anyway gtg o/

Q: I'm writing a program to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa but the program won't implement the userdata please help

Alex#include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> double TempCelInToFer(int celCius, int fahrenHiet){ double F=0; double C=0; C=celCius*(9.0/5.0); F=fahrenHiet*(5.0/9.0); printf("Celcius coverted to Fahrenhiet is: %d\n", C); printf("Fahrenhiet converted to Celcius is: %d", F); } ...

I got given ~\$60 in disc golf gear (already have ~$100) the only condition was I have to go on a date with a girl

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Disc? Is that on TIO?

@Adám Actually it is. TIORL (Try it online in real life)
We also have English language interpreter

11:49 PM
@Christopher2EZ4RTZ TIIRL? Nah…

@Adám Real life too much work

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ I wouldn't do it. Mostly because I'm married.

@Adám Never said you have to date someone new

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Can a mother of two be called a girl?

@Adám They are always your baby gurl
i will never say girl like that ever again
@Adám also cool! you have 2 kids so dennis golfed that :P

11:58 PM
@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Dennis golfed what?

@Adám Combined length of kids names

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Mine have 9 characters combined (in both Hebrew and Latin).
