Just had a classical guitar lesson, not that boring
I mean my challenge has 9 answers that are well done and clearly they understand
@WheatWizard
1) It would be nice but not entirely necessary for you to include how the waves are created. 2) I found your rules section a little confusing. I was not sure what you meant by either "visible" or "continuous". Does continuous mean there delay between lines is constant? And I don't know how the output could not be visible. Unless whitespace was passed to begin with in which case I would expect it to be explicitly invisible. Sorry I forgot to comment that earlier.
Also you included you must print one line at a time which seemed strange because I couldn't think of any other way to print. I guess that bit is less unclear and more confusing. I would recommend explaining or deleting that section.
@WheatWizard People asked if they could print triangle by triangle
What does that mean?
@DownChristopher Although it is possible to deduce what you mean from the examples, a challenge should have a clear specification so that the examples improve understanding, rather than being essential to understanding. Currently the specification is confusing. In particular, using an asterisk as a variable name invites confusion.
00:11
@WheatWizard Wave by wave
I have an idea: what if you could answer any challenge with a polyglot as if it were a distinct language?
@WheatWizard Continuous so always going no stops.
Some outputs are not visible. gotta be specific
I think I am more confused now
One second
also the integer metagolfer for brainflak is broken somewhat
00:18
@DestructibleLemon Which one and how?
I think it was the big integer metagolfer and I believe it was issues with negatives
Oh yeah It has that problem
sometimes I'd type in a negative number, then a negative number + 1, and the negative number + 1 would be more than 2 longer
That should make you questions more answered
I've started answering questions in Math.JS
00:24
Also @WheatWizard if you look at the challenge I wrote up the code
@Geobits teach me the way of downvotes
@DownChristopher I get how it should look. I just don't get what are meant by the terms "continuous" and "visible". You should really say explicitly what you mean by these terms
Uhh visible means you can see it and continuous means it does not stop
You should really delete that section then because it is redundant to the point where it is confusing
And continuous is usually not synonymous with unending
Continuous is used for both "without end" and "without breaks" (but still with an end). A less ambiguous word would help. Perhaps "perpetual"
00:38
I have voted to reopen but I feel that the You must print one line at a time line is still really weird. Its not wrong or unclear but it is a bit like specifying that all your bytes should be 8 bits long. It really is unnecessary and can only add to potential confusion
I think they were trying to say "all your characters should be a byte long", which of course is just annoying and restrictive.

I suppose, but I'm still agitated.
00:46
@Geobits I HAVE DONE IT
@mbomb007 Finally got a chance to watch this. Neat!
@ATaco I was not citing a specific question I was just making up a example
@mbomb007 My favorite piece is a rendition of "The Jolly Farmer" by Bill Bell. I have it on cassette it's so old, lol. He takes the normally kinda boring song and cranks it up to 11, with trills and arpeggios out the wazoo. christianbrothersband.bandcamp.com/track/…
@WheatWizard I'm not sure what you're referring to.
10 mins ago, by ATaco
I think they were trying to say "all your characters should be a byte long", which of course is just annoying and restrictive.
00:51
Ah, of course.
sorry took a while to respond
Not a problem.
Also; Are you using the Caret Reply script-
I had an idea, Caret Reply Search!
No I'm not using any scripts
So you can do something along the lines of ^(character) my reply here and it will reply to the last message containing the text "character"
well I am using one script
I would but your site requires javascript.
Hold up, I have a backup.
I didn't consider those with script blocking.
I was joking :p I enabled scripts
@ATaco Uhhhh...
Hmm?
01:01
CMC: What is the shortest brain-flak program that creates output longer than it's code? (No command line flags allowed)
@DJMcMayhem Holdup
I got this
I've done this
@WheatWizard There was a comment (since deleted) that asked if it was OK to construct an entire triangle (say an inner loop that creates a multiline string and store it into a variable) and then print out that triangle, so that it's only "building" the triangle once. The challenge was clarified to say you must print a line at a time.
Which UserScript loader are you running?
@ATaco Auto chat Jax
Not the script, the loader.
01:02
Oh let me check
It was designed with TamperMonkey in mind, so it might not work with things like GreeseMonkey out the box.
Oh duh I didn't install one for chrome
Sorry
That was rather dumb
I had one on my old browser but I changed and forgot to install a new one

Does python have an equivalent of npm?
@Downgoat pip?
idea: publish brain-flak to pip
Currently there is not a standalone python interpreter for Brain-Flak
01:24
@WheatWizard This is my fault for poor specs, but I think technically (((((()){}){}){}){}){(({})[()])} is a valid answer to my CMC when you include newlines
@WheatWizard A user asked so I said it in the rules. I don't want people to say anything
@Geobits I will make you proud!
@Dennis In case you are wondering The lowest bounty I can award now is 100 rep.
01:32
@WheatWizard OK, thanks. That's the standard minimum since you've already answered the question.
Would people please stop getting themselves removed? THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE LOST 20 REP. And it makes me mad. It is about 10% of my rep went by by from people getting removed
@Downgoat Whats that?
You'll get used to it
@Downgoat I don't even know what that is
D: it is biggest event of the year attempting to show that intelligence still should be a valued thing in society
@JanDvorak You have 8.2K rep I have lest than 550. It hurts me more :P Also I want to hit 750 before we get the design

Q: Is the increased rep for challenge upvotes going to happen?

Down ChristopherI have read on here that many several times it has be suggested that challenge upvotes count for more rep. Is that happening? Increase reputation awarded for questions Is one place it was mentioned but I have yet to see anything else

0
Q: Should we be allowed to close our own questions with one vote (close hammer)

Down ChristopherI think on PPCG you should be allowed to close your own challenges single handedly. It would allow people like me who realize too late that I have posted a bad challenge and want to close it fast. But you end up with an answer so removing is not a option. Would this work?

02:27
@Dennis Did you purge the comments on the 11 palindromes question?
@WheatWizard Yes, the OP added all requested clarification into the question body. Or did I miss something?
I had a comment that was un answered.
I'll just ask it again
Oh wait you're good he fixed it
I need to reload the page sorry

that works

smells fishy to me

user165474
PEBCAK?
05:08
A user error is an error made by the human user of a complex system, usually a computer system, in interacting with it. Although the term is sometimes used by human–computer interaction practitioners, the more formal human error term is used in the context of human reliability. Related terms such as PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair), ID-10T error (idiot error), PICNIC (Problem In Chair, Not In Computer) and other similar phrases are also used as slang in technical circles with derogatory meaning. This usage implies a lack of computer savvy, asserting that problems arising when...

Q: How to handle input parameters

Hubert GrzeskowiakI have just recently posted my first challenge and because I wanted to give all languages equal chances, I stated that the input variables are defined in the current scope already, so people wouldn't need to grab user input or write functions with params. However, people do exactly that! Is this ...

> Also, has anyone [reading this message besides me] watched Waking Life?
Nope, never heard of it.
Is it on Netflix?
I've just read the plot synopsis
06:24
the visuals are pretty absurd, the animation is very realistically based, but everything is always moving, especially facial features. Eyes change color, heads bulge and contort, and your field of view occasionally changes. That's just how it is presented visually, it's a really wierd film
06:48
has anyone else read don quixote?
and the second part too?
I read the simplified version

It's a miracle you still have more than -15 rep.
it's because 1 - 15 = 1 according to SE

@flawr I think there would be fewer votes in general, but since it's basically equivalent to a "disagree button", it would be much like now
