Q: Kicked from TNB (by a bot) for "inappropriate content" and have some questions about it

Christopher Pearthttps://chat.stackexchange.com/messages/35631789/history So I posted that. A few minutes later I get kicked from TNB with a 30 minute ban. I noticed a bot did it. How did a bot judge that one picture was worthy of kicking me from chat? I just am super confused how that happened. I understand if...

@Luke yes 10/10 explanation

Omg, why has this so many stars????
I cannot believe somebody would actually agree with this guy.

@flawr I do
pineapple is an abomination
@flawr Because it's just 10/10 hilarious.
well I don't think it should be outlawed but a room 101 for pineapple lovers would be good

@flawr b-b-but senpai that is banned meme
lel
who is senpai?
It's funny, my climbing friends go out to pizza every week after we climb, and one of them is allergic to pineapple. So my brother always gets pineapple on his pizza every single time and it's hilarious

Nov 26 '16 at 22:10, by flawr
I mean is also not that funny anymore.
@Riker I don't know anime.
@BusinessCat Yeah, I am dead serious.
Can you say I'm deadly serious?
@flawr riker-is-wrong is the new meme
@Riker But if you're wrong then it's not the new meme
@Riker Well, it's not, because it violates the "Be Nice!" policy.
(please no comments about irony)
this is like (big version of flawr)'s job
@Riker Strange cats they have there.
@Riker what??
what?
you mean your relatives aren't komodo dragons?

Regarding dragons, do you know the slackwyrm comic?

@EriktheOutgolfer What happened?
Now just about all of my links to PPCG will be broken
RIP
it probably expired
the domain
It died. Try to load it. It redirects to GoDaddy.
just blank page for me
and oh come on my shitty photoshop only gets 1 star?
tnb can do better than that
17:47
I starred it
@Riker @LegionMammal978 Yeah, that is normal GoDaddy behavior.
@KritixiLithos thanks
@flawr y u no star my masterpiece ;-;
I'd like to think he's just afk reading comics
@EriktheOutgolfer Okay, I see the GoDaddy iframe
It's just that GoDaddy is a bit broken on expired domains.
Vim (not V, vim) just outgolfed CJam, MATL, Pyth and 05AB1E at the same time.
17:49
On which challenge?
all of them
The motorcycle gear one
@DJMcMayhem Why is your username in italics?
he's a room owner now
Oh yeah that's right
17:50
he, minxomat, and mego were appointed as part of the latest round of new ROs
Yeah, ninjad
Also, are there any plans for a translator from Python to the People's Python?
@DJMcMayhem I was thinking about answering that challenge, using the method you used, hours back, but I was too lazy...
It would be like the interpreter, just going the other direction
@DJMcMayhem just wait for dennis' jelly answer
17:54
Also, Try it online! V compression. That's cool. — nmjcman101 2 mins ago
Oh wow, that's even cooler
@DJMcMayhem I want an assignment @ People's Python. Username erik, builtin repr.
@DJMcMayhem I think that should be posted as a separate answer
Actually, I think that this doesn't work because going over or under the 1/6 breaks the macro :/ — nmjcman101 1 min ago

@DJMcMayhem there are 2 enders?

@DJMcMayhem Shouldn't llh return n instead of 1? tio.run/nexus/v#@@9sZmpibJRnKJ3hoFQRVvD/f05OBgA
@Rod fixed
You forgot the assignments-reversed.txt addition though.
Anyways, thanks :)
@EriktheOutgolfer yeah, I'm doing that in bursts
@Rod it was due to that being buttner and me changing it to ender bc of martin's name change, I forgot he already had one for ender
Also, I don't think there should be both a Martin and an ender.
Or a chris and a jesteryoung, or an elendia and a starman, and other separate first and last names.
18:02
@Dennis yeah.... :(
It sure would be nice if the challenge actually had test cases
@EriktheOutgolfer well there is and it's not getting changed now
tbf they both contributed significantly to the site
both were mods, and martin has the most rep of anybody on the site
so it's fair
Who owns ppcg.lol?
quill
he seems to have mostly left SE tho
last seen over a month ago
yeah, almost non-hidden site on his profile says last seen oct or dec 2016
@DJMcMayhem Could I be slice?
@Dennis fixed. (And byte count more than doubled :/)
18:09
@LliwTelracs sure
what do you want me to put your name as?
"lliwtelracs"?
That's fine
kk
added you
@Riker BTW, if there happens to be a shortage of keywords to name, feel free to relinquish two or three of my assignments
don't worry we've got plenty
@JanDvorak after the rest of the builtins are taken there's always modules
only sys is taken of those so far (and random is already chosen just not added)
Yay I restart server and SSH and HTTP break
why do server hate me :(
18:18
D:
Oh and that include tf2 server :'(
@Downgoat wut
I don't know what is happening but it's supposed to work and everything is breaking. Help
Hmm, should I clear the "vim outgolfed xyz" stars now that it's no longer true?
You can clear stars as an RO?
18:21
Yeah
@DJMcMayhem prolly :(
It hurts twice as much to clear stars on my own messages. RIP :(
Jk, haha
> twice as much
Does it really hurt to clear star abuse?
3
Uhhh, I don't know if I'd call this star abuse
And, "twice as much" is compared to what?
18:29
More just unfortunate
@EriktheOutgolfer It's just an expression, calm down :P
JS question. If I have two "date" vars, is there anyway to create a third date that has the date from d1 but the time from d2?
.getDate and .getTime?
> var d1 = new Date();
> d1
Thu Feb 23 2017 11:33:51 GMT-0700 (Mountain Standard Time)
> var d2 = new Date("2017/02/22")
> d2
Wed Feb 22 2017 00:00:00 GMT-0700 (Mountain Standard Time)
> d1 % 86400
44039
> var d3 = new Date(d2 + (d1 % 86400))
> d3
Wed Feb 22 2017 00:00:00 GMT-0700 (Mountain Standard Time)
and then new Date(dateandtimehere)
@DJMcMayhem that works also
18:40
No it doesn't.
hm wait
ah I see
oh, I can fix 1 sec
Wed Feb 22 2017 00:00:00 GMT-0700 (Mountain Standard Time) should be Wed Feb 22 2017 11:33:51 GMT-0700 (Mountain Standard Time)
@DJMcMayhem try new Date((d2 - (d2 % 86400)) + (d1 % 86400))
@Riker Tue Feb 21 2017 23:59:18 GMT-0700
that is not right mehtinks
hmm
18:43
No, definitely not
Conclusion? JS is weird
python > js
shot
d3 = new Date(d2.getDate() + d1.getTime()) @DJMcMayhem?
does that work?
Rod
Rod
@Riker .getTime() is more like .getMsFromEpoch()
damn
@Riker yes! It does, thanks!
18:46
:D
@DJMcMayhem as rod noted though, .getTime returns a big number of milliseconds
@Riker That gives me
Wed Apr 16 2064 19:40:50 GMT+0200 (CEST)
It works somehow tough
o_O what's d1 and d2
@DJMcMayhem yeah it should
just beware if you try to use getTime somewhere else
The same as DJ's
[status:norepro]
RIP [status:]
used to work
I used [meta-tag:status-norepro].
yeah, I know
@Riker i'm evil but
d1 = new Date(2017, 02, 21, 18, 30, 00, 00)
d2 = new Date(2017, 02, 22, 08, 30, 00, 00)
d3 = new Date(d2.toDateString() + " "+ d1.toTimeString())
the hackish way, structure the string and create the date from that string
d1, d2, d3 in order:
Tue Mar 21 2017 18:30:00 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)
Wed Mar 22 2017 08:30:00 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)
Wed Mar 22 2017 18:30:00 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)
I just had an irc bot tell me it was in irc to steal client data so it could make change for a 20
18:55
lol
@ThomasWard why use that instead?

@Riker because I'm weird? :P
lel
Python > JS anyways for my needs
18:57
because more things than you'd think convert dates to strings while doing computation
it's a bad bucket of worms that you don't want to get into
Date libraries (even the kinda bad ones) are black magic. Treat them like the black boxes that they are and never look inside
Anonymous
@ThomasWard No, see, everyone here agrees with you
I agree that it's better for his needs
Note: I don't know his needs
Rod
Rod
@AdmBorkBork the aftermatch

19:02
No matter what your needs are, Python is a better choice :P

@Rod That's El Giganten!
@Rod Haha, that's funny.
@Mego Not if my needs involve having clear block delimiters (i.e. not different levels of whitespace)
You don't indent your code? That's bad practice (outside golfing, that is).
clearly, you need lisp
or should i say, lisp)))
5
19:08
That looks like a lot of Russian smilies...
Anonymous
@Poke Whitespace is perfectly clear. Also you should be doing FP, where there aren't blocks
@Mego why not Cardinal?

Q: Lily pad jumping

Nathan MerrillIn this challenge, you need to simulate a frog jumping back and forth on lily pads. The pond is infinitely big, has a line of an infinite number of lily pads, and the frog can jump across as many lily pads as he likes. This frog likes to jump back and forth: after jumping forward, he always ...

@Mego s/Python/J#
@Mego Not all solutions lend themselves to functional programming
and I disagree that it's clearer than guards of some sort
@EriktheOutgolfer I indent my code for readability; not for syntax
Yes
does anyone know stuff about bluetooth and linux?
19:36
Bluetooth is hard ;-;
I've done a decent amount of bluetooth, but linux is messing with me. I can't change the packet it advertises
Got a pi
You know, I suspect that Bioshock Infinite is actually referring to the length of the explanations of its plot
Anonymous
@LegionMammal978 It actually refers to the amount of disappointment
What? That game was awesome
Anonymous
19:43
It was a good game, but it in no way, shape, or form matched what was promised
What was promised?
*cough* No man's sky *cough*
I can't even remember when it came out, much less before then
@KritixiLithos Yup, one of the least valuable $40 of my life
Anonymous
Compare that trailer to the actual game
19:45
Solution? Never buy new games. You always know if it's good or not, and you can usually get it for 5$
Or just play NetHack
or Hyperrogue
That's one way I suppose
I suppose not, I have never been able to get one game in such a way...
Also, what are we discussing of again???
That was pretty much exactly my experience. I think I played both in 2013
@NathanMerrill Congrats on a seemingly-simple but actually-difficult challenge.
Anonymous
@NathanMerrill For starters, you're using PHP
@NathanMerrill using PHP.
:P
Anonymous
19:59
Hah
not my submission :)
Anonymous
Also you're using TIO v2
Anonymous
Don't expect it to work
@Mego great minds think alike
@NathanMerrill you're using PHP
20:00
@DJMcMayhem I can think of a possible approach to Nathan's challenge in V. By using :se ve=all and interpreting the numbers as append a space or move w or b, for later numbers, (at the end you just print the number), you can replace numbers when the collide with each other. At the end you can replace all spaces with underscores
Anonymous
Use TIO Nexus and make sure you're using the correct command line args
Is it just me, or did answers.unity3d.com use some SE code?
That, looks a lot like SE...
@KritixiLithos Hmm, I should probably hurry up and make that :se ve=all mapping
I don't really want to try to answer it, so you go ahead
Another one is lichess.
Although less like it.
20:02
I can't answer because I have homework due tomorrow...
Like, it's hard to blame them, but there's some legal things there.
Anonymous
@LegionMammal978 There are tons of SE lookalikes. There's a somewhat-maintained list on Mother Meta.
Less legal issues.
Do people think that this sandboxed post could benefit from examples? I tried to make some examples but I felt that they were either too large and made the question cluttered or were simply bad examples.
