5:00 AM
was gonna say...

I remember which site used a relay now: Monero SE. Their bot is #5.

The other difference in that in ><>, pushing a string pushes it's characters individually, so o only outputs one character, while in Sushi it outputs the entire String
If you want ><>, you can use ., which is a nop.
You can also give the interpreter the flag -p, which pads the program with ., so you don't have to waste bytes on filling empty space.

I made a thing :D

Step two: Install Vim

Yes
I have to find some way to get all those utils on ARM but working on it

5:06 AM
Shouldn't you be spending this time implementing Swisssheep?

The bigger problem is my terminal emulator is really crappy
I can only handle ANSI colors at the moment and that's about it

What should I call my new language for the time capsule? It's codespace is the surface of a sphere, with operations similar to befunge

Is there a better way to make a temrinal?

Hypercircular

Anonymous
@MistahFiggins Earth

5:10 AM
Talk, so that TIO breaks.

@Pavel ?

TIO urls are either in the form of tio.run/nexus/language or language.tryitonline.net

Does a dynamic library care for OS (not talking about whether or not it can find it's dependencies, morso of the kernel calls)?

Except, talk.tryitonline.net redirects to the chatroom.

5:13 AM
what about Sfear

Sure
Sounds edgy

I just realized I'm 5 rep off of 1000
I'd better go edit twice so I get to 999

I see 1005
IDK man

someone just upvoted

Finished my list.That was a huge waste of time.

5:17 AM
time to post a 3-downvote-worthy post so I'm at 999

You could have spent that time working on a language for the PPCG time capsule

Still it was kind of cool to find that old room. And I found out EL&U used to have a chatbot that posted dictionary definitions.

@TrojanByAccident I'm not getting a response on the google form. Have you finished filling it out?

@Pavel No, I'm not the best at filling out forms
Btw, how many common golfing languages here use postfix?

Uhh, none that I can name.

5:24 AM
what is postfix?

2 3 +
As opposed to 2+3
which is infix

Do you have any idea how annoying it would be to try to write code using prefix?

there are a bunch of stack based ones that do that, in some sense

rather, to write a prefix interpreter
@MistahFiggins Such as?

@TrojanByAccident Befunge 93/98, ><>, cubix, hexagony, etc

5:27 AM
@MistahFiggins Example of syntax?

@TrojanByAccident well, they are 2d, not sure if that counts
in befunge, 23+.@ prints 5
pushes 2, pushes 3, pops top 2 and pushes their sum, prints, and exits

LISP dialects are all prefix
(+ 2 3)

in PIDG, 2 3+ prints 5
2A3Bab+ should also print 5, but we're working on that

But the interpreter sees that as one block that looks like (2 3+), right?
Befunge, etc. just see individual commands.

5:31 AM
and FYI, when I say 'we' when talking about my programming language, I generally mean me ;)
@Pavel ?

In befunge, 23+.@ is considered five operations.

checking whether the C compiler works... no
oh ok...

2 3+ is three operations

the instructional pointer goes character by character and executes each according to their functionality individually

push 2, push 3, pop last two and push sum, implicit output

5:33 AM
That's not really postfix

*shrugs*

I'm actually not sure how to call the 'funge-like paradigm.

thats why I said " in some sense"

Actually, the word is 'Fungeoid'
Sorry

It's like individual method calls, or something like that
its not that + takes the 2 numbers behind it, but does something independent of those numbers

5:37 AM
@TrojanByAccident You are really bad at filling out forms.

the 2 and 3 simply give the initial state for when + is executed completely separately

Considering it has 3 fields and I don't have a response yet.

@Pavel Yes, I am. I have absolutely no idea what to write

and one is optional

Hello

5:38 AM
hey

How do I explain balanced bases?

@MistahFiggins 'tis indeed optional, but I don't like leaving things blank

They have negative stuffs? What's the "stuffs" called?
Digits?

I don't know what balanced bases are.

@TrojanByAccident I don't think your problem is filling out the form so much as creating/finding the information to do so

5:39 AM
The language already exists to some capacity
This shouldn't be that hard.

"to some capacity" yes, it can do math T_T
and by "math" I mean addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponents

No one has written more than a sentence into that field.

I've written this:

o boi here we go

*takes a long time to do this too* ;)

5:43 AM
If you've already written that much, why is it not a copy+paste operation?

I'm trying to make SKI in Assembly
But I don't know how to make arbitrary-length strings in Assembly

@Pavel ?

How to do? Halp pls

You said "I've written this:" which implies you've typed it out into the form. This means you can go the form, and do ctrl a ctrl c, go here, ctrl v
@Qwerp-Derp you shouldn't need to.
Store individual chars?

@Pavel What do you mean

5:46 AM
@Pavel Yes, I've typed out 0 bytes in the form

Or, just create new strings when you need to change one's length.

SKI = combinatory logic

OHHHH
I thought you were implementing ski free
In ASCII art, presumeably.
How's CMQ coming along?

That's a new one
"Anonymous Kraken"

I don't even know what an axolotl is

5:51 AM
it's an animal
it's a type of lizard
mexican, I believe

they're cute
@TrojanByAccident Amphibian

@MistahFiggins *shrugs*

@Pavel Uhhh not well at all, I have other projects
Like making a game thing called Trees
Where you have to make as much as you can from basically nothing

Doodle god?

or candybox 2?

5:55 AM
or life?

You guys know SkyFactory?
In Minecraft?

So you basically start off with a tree and a piece of dirt
And you have to make everything out of that
Trees is inspired off of that

oh
that's easy, tbh

wat
@Qwerp-Derp Why is your avatar background white when it is small, but black when it is big?

6:01 AM
...yeah... Whats up with that?

@wat Uhhh my background is transparent I think
That's probs why

wat
@Qwerp-Derp Doesn't look transparent in your original image

Sandbox

Where you can play with chat features (except flagging) and ch...

@wat It is indeed transparent
@wat eh?

wat
Doesn't look transparent to me

Check the link I gave

wat
6:06 AM
@TrojanByAccident yes, I see that link
However, when I look at the profile picture myself
it is not transparent

I copied the image address directly from their profile picture

I don't understand why it goes black though

There's something I'm a little unclear on here. I'm trying to obtain the source code for firefox, I want to hack the browser a bit. But it says on Mozilla's documentation that the compilation process can take up to 2 hours even on a fast machine. Does that mean that every change I make will require 2 hours to build? Or is there some faster way to build firefox?

@AshwinGupta I think that's a bit much e.e

Well, it is a really big project.

6:11 AM
"Don’t be discouraged if this takes a while; this takes some time on even the fastest modern machines, and as much as two hours or more on older hardware"
from mozilla.org

@AshwinGupta "on older hardware" when was this written?

And what hardware are you running it on?

@MistahFiggins dunno but last updated on Dec 20, 2016
@Pavel 3.4 ghz i7 processor
Not sure how much RAM factors in for compiling code, 12 gb of ram, 64 bit operating system.

as far as the drive, I'm using a hard drive. I don't know what is read/write speed is like. I have an SSD for booting but its pretty much full.
@MistahFiggins ;) thats one of his best.

6:19 AM
@MistahFiggins Beautiful

It's like doodle god, but if you find a combination that doesn't exist yet, you can write a suggestion for what it should be
And there's an automatic voting system for adding elements

@Pavel =/ anti-aliasing for the text though...
I thought web uses SVG and stuff just for that reason.

There's a button that fixes the quality

Are there buttons in Processing?

@Pavel ah got it

6:24 AM
@Qwerp-Derp processing as in java processing?

Presumably.

Yup

Do we know any other processings?

sigh. My FF install has been stuck at 29 seconds for 5 minutes...

e.e why "Octopus Hentai + Octopus Hentai = Squid Hentai"

6:30 AM
actually I'm on windows atm. Thats one of those crappy shell emulators

IDK

@TrojanByAccident something to do with octipi?

This is what happens when you run doodle god with a voting system.
It literally started with just water, fire, earth, and air.

@Pavel Yup

It's surprising we got normal combinations for those.

6:31 AM
@AshwinGupta elements 3

how to discover new elements: run an autoclicker for a few hours, come back

True dat

@TrojanByAccident I've got one for cookie clicker

lol It would take forever for me, I have too many joke elements

6:33 AM
The fun is in coming up with new elements as a community rather than trying to guess the way the elements combine.

128 typhoons to rule them all!

@AshwinGupta I just have one for the system

its time to stop

So are there buttons in processing or not?

6:34 AM
The advantage of using it over a script is that a mouse is given priority by the OS, and it can create double-click events.

user image
5

I dare say we rekt those guys this year.

ಠ_ಠ

@Pavel Oh interesting, I use one quite like that, down to the looks

@Phrancis Ayyyy

6:37 AM
Monking golfers

Phrancis is here from codereview.se, isn't he.

That's correct!

Oh wait what

Dammit foiled again!

6:38 AM
lol

This is why it's such an injustice that you guys get a design before us.
We earn hats more efficiently
Fire Tornado+Big Fire Tornado=Even Bigger Fire Tornado
Makes sense

@AshwinGupta is that for an app?

@Qwerp-Derp you can create buttons in processing

Have they announced any ETA for your site design yet?

@KritixiLithos Is it a built-in function?

6:40 AM
6-8 weeks
3

@Phrancis It doesn't matter anyway, we have a userscript

@Qwerp-Derp where

It's more convenient if there's a site design though

@Pavel Someone needs to make "Wall", add it to "fire", make it "firewall", then add to "Great China" to make either "Golden Shield" or "Great Firewall"

@Qwerp-Derp afaik no. You have to create your own button using a shape and mouse events

6:41 AM
There's a Great China?

@KritixiLithos That's what I'm doing right now

NEW ELEMENT!! Seltzer + 4 Seltzers = 5 Seltzers

@KritixiLithos not too hard tho, it is processing...

I have tampermonkey for the sandbox script

@TrojanByAccident yay! I certainly voted for it!

6:42 AM
That's great.
Really

@Pavel yeah

The next one will be 2 seltzers + 4 seltzers.
Watch.

To vote, you just click the one you like and hit 'Submit', right?

Yep
Or fill one in yourself

17592186044416 typhoons to rule them all!
the rabbit hole goes past the earth's core, man

6:44 AM
@KritixiLithos How to size a text thing?

@MistahFiggins what's the combination?
Btw, China + China = Great China

I was just the first to make hellfire

@TrojanByAccident YES CHINA IS MOTHER COUNTRY CHINA IS GREAT

@Pavel nice

@TrojanByAccident 2x its time to stop, just keep going

6:46 AM
Now there's a small delay until it becomes official

@MistahFiggins ?

Weather Disaster+Fish=That one time it rained frogs
And hi

@TrojanByAccident you don't have that yet??? ... :)

If you want any idea of what we're talking about ^

6:46 AM
@TrojanByAccident just keep combining water with itself

@MistahFiggins Which one?
I have two different it's time to stop

friend spilt water on laptop, waited 7 hours to dry and turned it back on; it kepts going on American Megatrends BIOS screen

@TrojanByAccident white one (?)

Btw, will you guys vote for Dusty Steam + Dusty Steam = Super Dusty Steam, pls?

Hailstorm+Hailstorm=2Hailstorms

6:47 AM
@MistahFiggins No, it's a clone

shoud he leave it to dry more
or what

@JesterTran Probably better on SU

I don't have dusty steam
I combined dust with steam and made smog

what's SU @TrojanByAccident

@Pavel Ash + Steam

6:48 AM
@JesterTran Super User
dot StackExchange dot com

Thanks
I don't have ash ._.

Nobody thought to claim dusty steam
lol
Now I regret the pioneer mark I put

Huh
Oh, what did you do?

@KritixiLithos?

6:50 AM
It's what I use a lot
but idk if it's really what I wanted
oh well

You'll find others you can leave a pioneer mark on
I found one empty on my first try
Cooked fish

logic: salt + salt = sugar
sugar + sugar = salt

The great thing about htwins.net, is that enough people use it that they can run interesting social projects, but not enough people use it that you can actually leave a significant mark.
salt+sugar..?

Oppposite
Opposite + Opposite = Same

I just created 'heck, I'm running out of ideas'

6:54 AM
Combination?

I don't remember

I just click the random button

@Pavel Drop it on 'place here'

That's generally not allowed here.
People don't appreciate it.

6:56 AM
What's not?

I just googled one of my favorite beers. "Rated 1 star (331 votes)". Ok then...

What is it?

What is life "PooPoo x65536"

wat

@Pavel Black Abbot

6:59 AM
Havan't heard of it.

Try making it in Elemental 3.

@Pavel do you have 'valley' and '2048 typhoons to rule them all'?

Neither

7:11 AM
The elements are so random, you can probably just assume no one has the same combinations as you beyond the basics.

@Pavel Yeah :/

Fill out the form >.<

Fine, I'll just submit with no desc
Done

Sushi doesn't actually use a queue. I decided that that's too hard to work with.

lol
I've made so many pokemon...

7:16 AM
I only have ash ketchum
I don't have any color with more than two rows, or 2%

How do you have ash ketchum ?
wait, lemme guess, ash + ketchup
@Pavel I have some with 4%

Autoclick->Random
I just made North Korea

I can't seem to combine it with anything
It all makes 'death' or 'North Korea'
North Korea+North Korea=Norther Korea

Wait wth

7:20 AM
YOU CAN GO TO ELEMENT INFORMATION TO SEE A TREE OF HOW IT WAS CREATED

a suggestion for Art Museum + Art Museum was 'I don't karate'
@Pavel yeah...?

I can now know how I made the things
Hell+Earth

Logic. Venus + Venus = Binary System
How'd you make hell?

inferno+lava
Ash ketchum is energy+ash

oh
energy?
and inferno?

7:23 AM
Energy is water+fire, iirc
Inferno is wildfire+flame

@Pavel nope, megafire
@Pavel nope

Odd

Guys, can you move the Element stuff to another chat?
It's starting to fill up TNB

HAHAHAHAHA
You're right

@Sherlock9 *narrows eyes*
but yeah

7:25 AM
Here I can make new rooms one sec

@Pavel k

Win64 isn't a thing iirc

It's a thing but 32 is also defined
I'm talking about golfing preprocessor directives
It doesn't work that way

Oh yeah
I sort of glazed over it 'cause I don't know C
But yeah

Q: Multiply two numbers

watInput: Two decimal integers. These can be given to the code in standard input, as arguments to the program or function, or as a list. Output: Their product, as a decimal integer. For example, the input 5 16 would lead to the output 80. Restrictions: No standard loopholes please. This is code-go...

9:24 AM
Erdogan said that Qatar's Emir wanted to make ski resorts and hotels in Trabzon. One week later, forests in Trabzon burned. It was snowing there.

They wanted to build hotels. Then, some miracle happened, and a wildfire started where they wanted to build hotels.
While it was snowing.

Q: Converting floating numbers to string

monobogdan1Task Convert a floating point number to string (without using built-ins that solve the challenge as such, like itoa or inttostr) Data types String is simple array of chars. Example in\out Input: float myfloat = 13.37; Output: char mychar[4] = "13.37"; Smallest implementation wins. Let's go.

@betseg Sounds like an amazing coincidence/miracle

9:59 AM
Uhm... okay, whoah... I just noticed that a large number of submissions to the "Add two numbers" challenge are non-compliant; there's a huge number of people who seem to believe that their favorite language's + operator actually works in decimal, and performs decimal outputs
