Ummm... I have a metagolf idea
Make a {minesweeper variant name} puzzle that encodes a binary number
Can I just explain it here instead of going to the sandbox?
06:24
Dammit no one's on
06:43
Me too
Wish i could answer the fellowships koth, but no computer right now :(
Is there an efficient way of removing trailing zeroes in Clojure?
07:03
how efficient is regex in Clojure?
cuz you can just get /(.*?)0*/
(/ n(bit-and n(- n)))
Man, LISP-like languages make all the arithmetic costs go out of whack
ah right
I'm guessing regex isn't a feature
or at least not one that's cheap
re-find seems to work (just Googling here) - but yeah it doesn't look cheap either :/
@Sp3000 how does work?
I'm assuming Qwerp's trying to do complex binary, so that snippet removes trailing binary 0s by the old n/(n&-n) trick, where n&-n gives the greatest power of 2 dividing n
07:13
Oh, that would explain.
If it was stripping trailing zeros from strings, I have no idea for Clojure :P
that's a really neat trick

What happened?

I think there might be a more verbose language than Java
And that is Clojure

I was answering some guy's question on SO, and I golfed my answer for some reason :P
@KritixiLithos Link?
Oh, I ungolfed it now
Clojure is 3verbose5me ;_;
there are plenty of more verbose languages than Java
INTERCAL, for example, in which you typically have to write each character of the equivalent of a string literal as a statement of its own
INTERCAL is really bad at strings
08:46
VerboseFuck is less verbose than Java /s

hand written :)
I'm assuming this is C-INTERCAL, the numbers are too medium-sized to be CLC-INTERCAL (which would prefer numbers that were either very small or very large)
yep, i've only used C-INTERCAL so far
I mostly use C-INTERCAL, but I like to have an awareness of what CLC-INTERCAL is up to
interestingly, C-INTERCAL is very much a statically typed, AOT compiled system
whereas CLC-INTERCAL is more like a scripting language
so stealing each others' features is fairly hard

I am trying to make a 6502 self-emulator
What is it?
The MOS Technology 6502 (typically "sixty-five-oh-two" or "six-five-oh-two") is an 8-bit microprocessor that was designed by a small team led by Chuck Peddle for MOS Technology. When it was introduced in 1975, the 6502 was, by a considerable margin, the least expensive full-featured microprocessor on the market. It initially sold for less than one-sixth the cost of competing designs from larger companies, such as Motorola and Intel, and caused rapid decreases in pricing across the entire processor market. Along with the Zilog Z80 it sparked a series of projects that resulted in the home computer...

@quartata say I have a filename with spaces in it. how do I tell load in J that the space is part of the filename?
@ConorO'Brien Doesn't it take a string?
@quartata it splits the strings on spaces and loads each file on its own, e.g. load 'plot stats'
Oh, I see.
Just escape it then
Not sure why it doesn't take a list of strings
escape the space?
how so?

A coffeehouse, coffee shop, or café (sometimes spelled cafe) is an establishment which primarily serves hot coffee, related coffee beverages (e.g., café latte, cappuccino, espresso), tea, and other hot beverages. Some coffeehouses also serve cold beverages such as iced coffee and iced tea. Many cafés also serve some type of food, such as light snacks, muffins, or pastries. Coffeehouses range from owner-operated small businesses to large multinational corporations. In continental Europe, cafés often serve alcoholic beverages and light food, but elsewhere the term "café" may also refer to a tea room...
That's really what we are.

> From a cultural standpoint, coffeehouses largely serve as centers of social interaction: the coffeehouse provides patrons with a place to congregate, talk, read, write, entertain one another, or pass the time, whether individually or in small groups.

@El'endiaStarman How so? (See, I told you you deserved it!)
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC I think it has/had something to do with my visible/external expertise not really demonstrating my true expertise.
@El'endiaStarman Huh? Like with TNBDE?
They see you as Asset == Starman; Starman ≠ Button-pressing worker
What's wrong with pressing buttons?
18:24
@KritixiLithos I mean pressing the same button over and over again
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Hmm, I guess I could use that as an example. I have experience with PostgreSQL, but they use Redis, so on paper, it looks like my experience doesn't match what they need. What isn't shown, however, is that I am very good at extracting general ideas and using them elsewhere. Now also consider the fact that I have a wide breadth of knowledge and some amount of expertise in a great variety of areas, and suddenly, I can do a lot more than you would expect from what I have done.
My experience in explaining math and programming concepts in such a way that they're understandable by laypeople comes in handy when expressing complex ideas to coworkers, for example.
@El'endiaStarman Ah. I see. They see you as having ideator and inspirer traits - you (definitely) have the potential to do "regular development"
I don't really know exactly what I'll be doing, but I'll find out soon. :D

The Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) was a digital computer produced for the Apollo program that was installed on board each Apollo Command Module (CM) and Lunar Module (LM). The AGC provided computation and electronic interfaces for guidance, navigation, and control of the spacecraft. The AGC had a 16-bit word length, with 15 data bits and one parity bit. Most of the software on the AGC was stored in a special read only memory known as core rope memory, fashioned by weaving wires through magnetic cores, though a small amount of read-write core memory was provided. Astronauts communicated with the...
