In numerical analysis, Newton's method (also known as the Newton–Raphson method), named after Isaac Newton and Joseph Raphson, is a method for finding successively better approximations to the roots (or zeroes) of a real-valued function.

{\displaystyle x:f(x)=0\,.}
The Newton–Raphson method in one variable is implemented as follows:
The method starts with a function f defined over the real numbers x, the function's derivative f', and an initial guess x0 for a root...
I don't like strings with more than three vowels in a row. Can you write a program that removes all the vowels I don't want from words?
You may write a program or function, taking input via STDIN (or closest alternative), command-line argument or function argument and outputting the result via S...

@Upgoat okay, cool. I think first I need to get the encoding figured out. Right now, it relies heavily on unprintable characters, which is a terrible idea.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ No, I think he's right. It installs the end product to /usr/local/Cellar/ but it downloads to the Caches directory. Not sure where it untars and compiles it though.
Is it allowed to submit a Python solution like the below:
{"a":"b"}
if the challenge is to output b if the input is a, and error otherwise? I could claim, "It is an anonymous function, it just requires a different syntax:"
f = {"a":"b"}
f[input()]
Is this allowed?
I've created this feed user a little more than four months ago.
It is supposed to post featured questions from Anime & Manga. However, it never worked.
The feed is currently empty, since we have no featured questions right now currently has two questions. However, whenever there are featured ...
@Quill i don't get the big deal with the NSA spying on people. I mean, even if it is, what do you have to hide? them observing you does not change your life in (nearly) any way, so should it mattter at all?
@Quill same but it took to long to figure out what I was saying.
Even if it is only want, yes, I damn sure do want privacy. If they have no legitimate reason or suspicion, they shouldn't be listening/watching. It's really that simple.
I got into it and it was a little creepy. But in that case, government survalaince did make a difference in everyday life, otherwise the book would be very boring
@BaldBantha Beside the massive waste of government resources, the total invasion of privacy, and actually making it harder to catch bad actors? Oh, not much.
Mini challenge: Replace every instance of bits or Bits in a string with bitsits and Bitsits respectively. e.g. Bitsubitsbitsle -> Bitsitsubitsitsbitsitsle Life is bitsad. -> Life is bitsitsad.
`:%s/` equals global search and replace. `b\c` the letter b, but ignore case. `/\0its` replace it with the entire matched text (b or B) followed by "its"
