The problem really isn't how much a megabyte costs, the problem is how much I'm billed when I exhaust my data pack without noticing.

@Rainbolt I think one time I had just earned a new privilege but the same day I got more rep so I downvoted it

@Dennis Oh, I see.

Does anybody here now Haskell?

@Dennis Haskell is the best
3

@Dennis Trying hard.

11:04 PM
This is suspiciously short, but I don't have the slightest clue how to test it.

ghci gave me an error on the |
which makes sense

does anyone else hate how JSFiddle uses visual ligatures?

Bye for now

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Did you see the Lemongrab Dubstep? :D

@FlagAsSpam Oh, no, I forgot!
@SuperJedi224 peace

11:07 PM
@Maltysen No clue. All I know about Haskell is that it nearly made me lose my hair in Martin's programming language quiz. A surprising amount of esolangs is implemented in Haskell.

@FlagAsSpam could you... link it again? it's incredibly hard to find a specific youtube video in the transcript

@Maltysen Tried pasting it in a file instead?
If you paste it in the console you need to use let I think.

@Dennis oh yeah it works
@flawr yeah that was it, I'd forgotten about that

@FlagAsSpam XD YUUS

11:11 PM
@Maltysen What does it give for input 100?

40.87371916811785

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I found it and cried with joy. xD

@FlagAsSpam it's so funny o(>∇<)o

@Maltysen Amazing. Thanks!

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Yeah - I subbed to the artist. He has tons of Adventure Time based dubstep, and it's awesome.

11:14 PM
@Dennis Immediately 3 upvotes=)

@FlagAsSpam oh wow subs

@El'endiaStarman Did you ever get this sorted?:

Q: How do I automatically kill a process that uses too much memory with Python?

El'endia StarmanThe situation: I have a website that allows people to execute arbitrary code in a different language (specifically, an esolang I created), using a Python interpreter on a shared-hosting server. I run this code in a separate process which is given a time limit of 60 seconds. The problem: You can ...

I was browsing through the questions with the word "esolang" in it.

I definitely did not answer that question.

@Maltysen How did you test it if you don't mind me asking? I've tried a couple of online compilers, but they all through the error you mentioned earlier.

Did your brother?

11:18 PM
@Dennis you have to put it in a file as @flawr said.
Then just use :l in GHCI and run f 100

@FlagAsSpam haha, I doubt it.

@Maltysen :l filename

@Maltysen So I have to download GHC?

its just an apt-get

More like a zypper.

11:20 PM
FML I cannot get encoding to work

78.3 MiB sighs Maybe tonight.

I'm stealing @ETHproductions upload module.

will someone help me save this?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

TanMathMake a search engine! code-golf Background You are now the first employee of DuckDuckGoogle, a company founded by a Google employee and a DuckDuckGo employee! They have a new vision for search engine! But obviously, they need to make a search engine first! However, they are bad programmers (n...

Hey there, just started contributing to PPCG, really enjoying it so far :D

@CameronAavik Great=)

11:27 PM
This is a challenge i do not want to die... it has the potential to be a great challenge...

@TanMath It seems a few people here disagree.

why do you guys disagree? tell me how I can improve it?
please!

list of languages made by our kind that use the upper half of a byte.

please don't let it die! i will do anything to imrpove it...

@TanMath it looks too hard
maybe split it up into a series
for the 3 parts you mentioned

11:29 PM
@CameronAavik Glad to here it. Welcome to TNB and PPCG!

tnb?

^

^

The Nineteenth Byte!

oh!

11:30 PM
@TanMath The first thing you should do is get rid of that ridiculous first bonus.

TernaryNotBinary?

If you have seen my solutions so far, I'm mainly a Python 3 person
although I plan on learning Pyth

I'm stupid
@CameronAavik yay

@Dennis i thought it was a fun one... a tribute to @phase
take it out then?

yes

11:32 PM
@TanMath Please. It is completely unrelated do the challenge.

also, bonus #2 makes no sense

There are quite a few clarifications to be made. I don't have time to go through it right now.

@TanMath If you really wanna know what is not clear yet, try to solve the challenge yourself.
You do not even have to consider that websites have tons of different character encodings /html encodings and are usually full of errors.

@flawr i an trying..without the bonuses -> very easy...

Then you perhaps might want to post your solution...

11:37 PM
@TanMath what is a word

And the whole thing as ? Way too much effort for a not a very interesting task.
In your place I'd abandon that project.

@flawr i am still working on it...
so there is no way I can save this project? no way at all?
I thought it was interesting and I know Rainbolt thinks it is interesting...
@TanMath how is this an interesting message?

@TanMath what @flawr means is that it might be saved, but it won't be that well received and would take huge amounts of effort

@Maltysen so i cannot make it more interesting?

And I know that 3 people donvoted it, nobody else upvoted it, and some of the very few people who's advice I take seriously are also not very enthusiastica bout it.

11:41 PM
> enthusiatica
lol

Yes typos are very funny!

new word!

I hope you still understood what I mean=)

anyway, back to the topic...
@flawr i do...
so how would I make it more interesting?
should I take out the other bonus too?

@TanMath probably

11:44 PM
I'm not going to make any suggestions, as I really do not think it is worth putting more effor tin!

are you purposely putting typos in?
@flawr so according to you, there is no way I can make it more interesting and better?

Q: Counting the byte size of a file encoded in ISO 8859-7 in JavaScript

Cᴏɴᴏʀ O'BʀɪᴇɴBackground I am writing an esoteric language called Jolf. It is used on the lovely site codegolf SE. If you don't already know, a lot of challenges are scored in bytes. People have made languages that utilize either their own encoding or a pre-existing encoding. On the interpreter for my langua...

@Dennis I thought you got GHC for TPLQ

Shameless self advertisement

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ why did you change topic?

...

We can talk about whatever we want here.

15 secs ago, by TanMath
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ why did you change topic?
There's a topic here?

Free chatroom==)

now I will change topic back to my question...

11:49 PM
LOL

@quartata That was on another OS.

so should I take the bonus out?
@Quill sometimes there is...

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ What upload module?

For an ISO whatever file
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ You should look at this @ETHproductions

Oh, from the japt interpreter?

11:50 PM
@Dennis Hrmph.

@ETHproductions yeah
look at the fourth link in the post :P

I'll see if I can write an answer later, I'm on tablet atm.

@TanMath Your challenge is at -4. I hate to break it to you but that probably means that there is something wrong with the concept.

@SuperJedi224 welcome back

11:51 PM
Also you aren't winning any points by interrupting conversations to divert the chat back to your question

@quartata what is wrong with it?

@TanMath I don't know, I haven't even read it.

@quartata fine! talk what you want to talk...

I'm just telling you that if it is at -4 it's probably something wrong with the concept of the challenge.

@quartata oh...

11:52 PM
Maybe I should do a Jon Skeet dance for answers to my question :P

@quartata so i want to fix it...
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ show me a jon skeet dance...
never seen it before...

@TanMath You go into your Jon Skeet room and do a rain dance.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ what is the jon skeet room?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ it's a JS question... good luck

@TanMath you don't have one?

11:55 PM
@TanMath you know, where you keep your shrine to Jon Skeet

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ nope...

@Maltysen precisely!
@Quill Maybe he'll learn JavaScript.

@Maltysen oh...like a temple for Jon Skeet...

I, for what it's worth, have three such rooms.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ just for you <3

11:55 PM
cool!

I'm working on a cloner so I can worship Jon Skeet in all three rooms simultaneously
all hail

For some reason all of the drawings I had added to my cover creator were dropped from it

lol

Side note: Working here has the strange side effect of quadrupling your gif / meme collection weekly. I blame chat. — Tim Post ♦ 6 hours ago

11:57 PM
So now I need to go back and reselect all of them again before I can edit my cover

i took out the bonus

@Dennis You can run Haskell code in Ideone. Just paste in the function definitions, and add main = print $ <whatever> to test them. ideone.com/4XBfbT
