@Maltysen That one sounds good, too
Gottferdammich
@AlexA. makes a regex to blacklist words
translate: Gottferdammich
(from English) Gottferdammich
Interesting
It might be a v and not an f
02:01
You missed a umlaut somewhere probably
Or that
Well, I guess print re.match(".*",input()) would be a valid Python answer
Haha
can I post my version?
@ZachGates also, lol
@Maltysen :P sure
02:02
@Ampora It's v, and dammich is slang. I doubt Bing would understand it.
It is a v.
translate: Gottverdammich
(from English) Gottverdammich
Thank you Dennis
Bing still doesn't like it.
Told ya.
02:03
I guess Bing just isn't hip on the new slang, yo.
translate: gottverdammt
(from English) gottverdammt
pr(org.api.googleTranslate("Gottverdammich"))
Swell.
hi world
translate: Got fur, dammit.
(from English) Got fur, dammit.
02:03
beep boop
I think we can all guess what it means
Let's be honest here
I don't have any idea what it means
translate de: gottverdammt
(from English) gottverdammt
You have got to be kidding me.
"translate de"
02:04
Whatever happened to bing
ping me when you post it @Maltysen
@Ampora o_______O
@Dennis translate <code> translates from English to the specified language, not from the specified language.
@ZachGates will do, anyone have ideas for better titles than "Quiny Regex Tester"?
02:05
@Maltysen make sure to ban quine builtins.
@quartata good point
@AlexA. Cute. Whatever. google.com/search?q=translate+gottverdammt There. Bing blows.
@Maltysen or else print re.match(".*",input())
@Maltysen Quinean Regex
02:06
@Dennis :P
translate: Bing blows
(from Insult) That hurts my feelings.
translate: quartata
(from English) quartata
Sentient confirmed
I knew it
02:08
translate: quartata
(from Italian) quartered
blame caching
translate: ampora
ಠ_ಠ
(from LOLNO) crickets
translate it: quartered
(from English) squartato
Dafuq
I guess you have a new username, squartato.
02:09
What is the s doing there
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Room owners should get translate
It doesn't make sense for only mods to have it really (at least on SO)
@Maltysen: It should probably be a popularity contest
It isn't actually useful anywhere else except SO and language SEs though
It's useful for moderation in case someone posts something offensive in a different language.
02:11
but it shows the translation to the whole chat in that case
It's not available for regular users because there's no reason to.
I didn't mean regular users
@quartata Not if you do it in the right room. ;)
I meant room owners
I know, I'm just saying.
02:11
@AlexA. ah right
@AlexA. squash+ quart + potato?
@BlockCoder1392 = squartato, yes.
@quartata wait translate function is a thing? I thought you were just copy-pasting from google translate
It's a moderator power
what flavor of regex?
Strawberry
translate: ಠ_ಠ
ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ If you see someone who doesn't have a blue name doing it, they're copy-pasting from Google Translate. :P
translate: squartato
(from Italian) quartered
Like Ampora
(Did that ping you?)
Nope
You can tell whether a ping was successful if it highlights the person's last message.
02:14
Stealth pings were fixd
@BlockCoder1392 I can dream, can't I? :P
I actually had a dream where the only way to to communicate was something like a stealth ping
._.
That sounds like chaos
@AlexA. Excuse me. I use Bing Translator for a 100% accurate forgery
smart regex people, is there any name for "pure" regex without references, balancing groups, etc.
yes regular expressions
regular expressions
You could also call it an expression in a Kleene algebra I suppose
BRE, I think
02:18
@quartata Is it a Deerte algebra if it has references and balancing groups?
@BlockCoder1392 dead link...huh?
For a second I honestly thought you were referring to a real algebra and felt dumb
@Maltysen regexwithouhtrefsbalgrpsetc
@TanMath tryin to ping alexa
> referrih
Fixed. I am on mobile so
02:20
@BlockCoder1392 Didn't work
@quartata No excuses
Link text is scanned for mentions but link URLs are not. The way you did that pinged me.
guess what, we have less stars than 2nd monitor!
Stop trying to do it. They fixed it for good.
time to star!
02:26
Do we really? Huh.
They have like 3000-4000 more stars than us!

Q: Quinean Regex Tester

MaltysenThis challenge is pretty simple. As input, you take in a regular expression (no balancing groups or references or anything like that, just a BRE with simple character classes). Then, you output a truthy/falsey of whether or not your source code matches the regular expression. It's that simple! J...

@Maltysen Thanks
I really dislike that we only get notifications for rep, not votes.
02:28
@Dennis Same
translate: dupe
@Maltysen: Will this work? (I wasn't 100% clear on the details)

(lambda i:print(bool(__import__('re').match(input(),i))))("(lambda i:print(bool(__import__('re').match(input(),i))))")
As written, no. Python doesn't use basic regular expressions.
@Dennis really?
02:35
@Dennis I don't think that was the intended meaning
How do you do python code highlighting for one code block?
@Dennis read my latest comment
@Calvin'sHobbies Don't use -all
<!-- language: lang-python -->?
<!-- language: lang-py -->

hahaha!
Double bearmonkey'd
Ninja'd:
@Maltysen "Use whatever RegEx is native to the language, or, BRE" — Cᴏɴᴏʀ O'Bʀɪᴇɴ 17 secs ago
:P
@AlexA. Where would the -all go? (If I did use it)
language-all:...?
02:37
Yes
@AlexA. I believe that's equivalent to a single NinjaBearMonkey'd
@TanMath Yes. Basic regular expressions are very limited and have rather strange escaping rules. The only languages I know that use them are shell utilities.
@Maltysen You have tagged your question as , which normally means that reading you own source code is forbidden. If that's not your intention, you should say so in the question.
what is miaou?
02:41
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ you seems to be using a quine builtin
@Maltysen No, I'm not.
code.value?
I'm accessing the text element's value from which the source is contained.
code is an element on the page.
oh I see what you mean
Yeah.
q, on the other hand, is a quining builtin.
some nut is downvoting all the challenges because they're uneducated ._.
02:45
@mystery_downvoter ಠ_ಠ
It's not Geobits, he reads before voting.
So it must be... alex. Because he definitely downvoted his own post.
And that makes sense. And that does not make sense.
Dropped 52 bytes after the rule change hehe
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ you're not making any sense :P
@Maltysen All cheating quines were downvoted. I assume it is because reading your own source code is allowed.
@Maltysen Indeed! Or NAWWWW
02:49
@Dennis Zach since changed his to read the file so maybe he'll get downvoted too now.
That would make -1 on everything.
Sensationalistic challenge incoming
I'm getting mentally prepared
@AlexA. Let's hope not :P
I could fix it for you if you'd like >:D
laughs maniacally
If I get a downvote, I'm changing it back tbh
02:51
I hope I get another downvote, so my rep is at an even 57,800. The +2 is killing me.
@Dennis I'll help you :D

Q: Choose The Powerball Numbers!

Calvin's HobbiesPowerball is an American lottery that has recently gained attention because the current jackpot (as of January 11, 2016) is the largest lotto prize in history, at about $1.4 billion (USD). Powerball players choose 5 distinct numbers from 69 numbered white balls, and 1 one "Powerball" number from...

This is exciting. I've never had the most votes before
@Maltysen Thanks, but the original downvote was retracted.
Thought it won't last much longer
> this was just a FGITW.
@Maltysen ಠ_ಠ
\o/ downvoter removed downvotes
02:56
@AlexA. I was surprised it took so long, actually
I should prolly remove mine from @Dennis, then
for the most part, sorry @Dennis
arrrghhh I almost got Pyth first but it took me too long to figure out how to map. :P
lelecepter
Jelly still has to randomness. brb
it is sad a python reference was included...
@TanMath Why?
@Calvin'sHobbies Nope. Right now, it's easier to solve a challenge with the built-ins Jelly doesn't have.
Not in Jelly, of course.
@TanMath It's a pretty simple problem, didn't think I'd be giving anything away
Can someone check if this works for the quine regex thing?
I couldn't find a pattern that didn't match it correctly.
03:00
@Dennis use Quesoteric :D
@Calvin'sHobbies because i cannot use python!
Allergic to snakes?
is there a way to close an issue with a commit?
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ You can add a commit to the issue, then close the issue
03:13
@Maltysen see comments on my answer
Is my answer doing the right thing or should I change it to search/findall
As the question reads, the entire program should match, yes? That was my understanding
@TanMath Sp3000 posted a Python solution.
Damnit randint, I keep forgetting you're inclusive (and randrange is so long...)
@MartinBüttner I've changed the time limit to 5000 generations.
Holy crap.
Markiplier's Youtube account just got hacked.
That's too bad.
03:18
@Sp3000 Since when do you golf at these hours :O
Who?
@Dennis Some famous YouTube guy who plays video games and gets paid for it
Second to PewDiePie in sub count for a gameplay commentator.
@Calvin'sHobbies When I should be sleeping due to a fever but am surprisingly awake
@AlexA. It is worth mentioning that he donates a crap ton of it.
03:20
I only know about PewDiePie because of Cartman Brah.
Why would anybody watch anyone play games?
@FlagAsSpam Don't worry, I know. He seems like a decent enough guy, that was just my summary. :P
@Dennis My girlfriend loves it.
VTC is sad.
@Dennis To learn secrets and techniques and such
03:21
@Dennis Calvin makes Minecraft YouTube videos!
@Dennis Commentary, for me. Helps cheer me up sometimes.
@AlexA. sorta
@Calvin'sHobbies aorst <-- I sorted "sorta"
I strongly dislike instructional videos of any kind. Write it down.
@Dennis Markiplier does gaming commentaries - he's useless at the games, typically, most people watch for the entertainment value of the speaker.
03:26
@FlagAsSpam That sounds like a waste of valuable time one could spend golfing code or chatting about it.
Since when does anyone talk about golfing code in here?
@Dennis I wrote it down. Do I get a cookie?
5/10 not an animated gif, wasted potential :P
2/10 cookie is shaped liked an evil police spider
03:29
At least it's not a boogie robot.
@Doorknob That would take way more effort than I was willing to expend for this
@Dennis Despicable Me? Meet The Robinsons had that walking hat
Yes.
Video got deleted - Markimoo must've regained control of the account. c:
I don't know Japt so idk if "Standard quine framework" is disallowed
03:37
@ZachGates He means "general form to get a valid quine". :P
I think ETH means that it builds on the standard Japt quine.
bearmonkey'd

@Dennis thanks
None of the languages I use has Regex matching. D:
@Calvin'sHobbies Karaoke songs? Russian search? Wth is this?
^
Sparta?
@AlexA. So much hate against Russian karaoke...
@AlexA. how is that possible? i thought golfed reference is not accepted by the community!
otherwise I would have also golfed!
> Golfed reference is not accepted... - well why not?
03:44
@TanMath It's fine to do it, it just isn't always upvoted.
@TanMath How did you get that impression?
I once did that and everybody was angry...
the bernoulli one...
@AlexA. but it isn't accepted by the community...
@TanMath 4 community members just said it was ok
@TanMath I don't know what happened with Bernoulli, but in this situation there really isn't any other way to do it (unless you count using id for randomness, which I've always been pretty iffy about)
03:45
Destined for greatness. Search your heart, you know it to be True
@Calvin'sHobbies Don't get me wrong, I love to take the mic when Желтые тюльпаны comes on...
@TanMath You got bad feedback because your code was poorly golfed and, at least at one point, invalid.
@ZachGates Er. This has no functionality yet.
@FlagAsSpam Hence "destined." :P
03:47
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ see this for an example (close issue w/ commit)
life's hard...
This is true.
@FlagAsSpam Not quite
Milky Way does, though
:)
@TanMath And as one of the comments on that answer points out, your latest revision is also invalid. The output for 60 is incorrect.
@Calvin'sHobbies (I looked up Russian pop songs and that came up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
MUAHAHA! I've finally passed @Justin in reputation! >:D
03:51
aft Congrats!
@Calvin'sHobbies that crowd looks SO bored
@AlexA. ¯\_/¯\_(._.)_/¯\_/¯
I still have to re-surpass Sp to join Dennis and Martin in the top 3. :P
walk like an Egyptian
@Dennis :P :I :/ ಠ_ಠ
03:56
@quartata Implemented!
@trichoplax ^
Turned out to be much easier than I thought.
@El'endiaStarman Whats clear vs reset? fast vs slow?
@Calvin'sHobbies Clear makes all alive cells dead, reset makes everything rule 1. Fast does that many steps immediately, slow does it at the rate given, but does only that many steps, whereas start will go on forever.
