@Rusher Why not clarify in the close vote? And I don't want to verbally challenge people. I don't mind closing questions, but I do mind it when we close questions out of spite (like the large amounts of close votes that sometimes appear on questions). Even if we feel that the genre is bad (I personally feel so), we don't need to ruin the fun for those who enjoy it.

Hello there. :)
This room seems lonely... :(
I'm here :)
@Doorknob get in here!
Oh, hello @Rusher!
Oh, are you from CR?
Hai
Nope, he's a generic Stack Exchangian :P
@Rusher Kinda sorta maybe ish.
01:57
Whenever someone joins and asks for Doorknob I guess I assume they came from CR lol
@Doorknob I've been in their room for a bit.
Me too. Mainly to spy on them. :D
Anyone here played cookie clicker?
@Rusher Of course!
I guess that was a dumb question. Has anyone not played it?
02:00
Heh, that would yield slightly less results
Why is your name in italics
@Rusher Doorknob's a room owner.
I am a room owner
... ninja!
@Rusher slowly raises hand
Darn it why does this always happen? :P
And @hichris is blue because he's a mod on ES. (For about a day now. :D)
@hichris123 HERETIC!
02:01
@hichris123 I'm sorry in advance for losing the next few days of your life.
Wat?
sigh
Give it a moment
Yup, works now.
Oh, and make sure Javascript is enabled
... run. Run while you can.
D: You're doomed now.
02:04
No no it's fine. It's one of those games that you can put down after a ..... YOU'RE MINE NOW MUAHAHAHAHA.
@Rusher ... you know what I'm about to say, right? Look again at that fourth to last word? :P But in all other respects, quite an accurate statement
Ok so, muahahahha isn't actually a word, so are you talking about "a"?
Can you imagine a world where conversations worked like this? Where people could go back and fix the stupid shit they say but only for a small period of time?
... @hichris? Are you still there? Is it too late?
02:07
... so many tabs!
@Rusher Meh, that would just be ok
Man he already has 50 grandma's I bet
Lmao it pings me every time
checks to make sure I don't have any sekrits before screenshotting
Lol, ok I'll stop ping-spamming you now :D
The two on the left are sekrit. :P
02:09
... that's a lot to you?!
I also have 4 more open in IE.
That's a lot to me...
You don't know "a lot" until you've experienced 25+ tabs at once, 8 or so of which have the same icon. :P
@hichris123 Oh yeah, I forgot; you're the soulless monster who uses IE. :P
At work I have VS2012, VS2013, SQL Server, our homemade productivity thingy, and browser with 5 tabs, and it drives me absolutely bonkers to have them all open at once.
in Charcoal HQ, Apr 13 at 15:37, by Doorknob
fires up IETester because of *some* people who use IE... ahem ahem
02:13
I just counted... I have 21 tabs open right now and it's usually far, far past that
I'm just thinking that if I want something on the Internet, it's literally a hotkey to go to my search bar, and a few words to find what I want
And this happens faster than searching through 25 tabs
The usual exception is my email, which is pinned, and PPCG chat, also pinned
I keep pages open with the full intention of returning to them at some point
@grovesNL ... which often never happens. I feel your pain! :P
@Doorknob exactly
@Rusher I don't like pinning chatstuffs because I can't see the new message count and whether I was pinged or not.
02:16
Most times I end up with way too many tabs... then I click "close tabs to the right" and hope I didn't remove anything too important.
@Doorknob Oh, interesting. I never noticed the new msg count
I usually hit that point when the favicons all disappear
@Doorknob Mainly just for chat.
Lots of times I've ended up with way too many "The"s (The Nineteenth Byte, The 2nd Monitor, The Easter Egg Hunt on the Hill (or some other PPCG challenge), The SO Tavern, etc.) which all get truncated to "The..." and I can never figure out which The is which! :P
@hichris123 Why chat in a different browser?
@Doorknob I'm too lazy to make my own stuff work in IE.
@Doorknob Because less tabs.
(this is in Chrome though)
02:19
@hichris123 ... ctrl+n much?
I actually have 3 separate Chrome windows right now
I don't like that.
Why?
Then it makes it harder for me to switch from another program to Chrome.
I usually have multiple Chrome windows as well. And sometimes a couple IE windows because I have some web apps that only function with IE clipboard
Alright, I'm going to shut down go to sleep now. Bye all
02:22
Later
@Doorknob In Mom voice Don't forget to close your tabs!
Night @Door (knob).
Close your tabs? You can DO that??
@Geobits Disappointed with the response to codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/26317/miniature-faking I was hoping we'd get more entries
We should do another image processing challenge
I'm not too worried. If someone wants to make something truly nice (which would attempt feature matching to pick sharp areas, etc), it might take some time. If not, it was still fun for me :)
I like your blur, though. It looks much more natural than the other.
02:32
Thanks, I was impressed at the result
Overall, I think yours would look quite a bit better with a touch more contrast, but they're nice enough as is.
Of course, that's subjective as all hell :D
Yeah, probably. I didn't experiment much after I managed to get the gradient blur working
I do like image/audio processing, though. More challenges along those lines would not upset me.
I would be interested in doing another image processing challenge soon though. I think we could get some cool entries, as we've seen from the "every color image" challenge
All Colors was a good one, with some really nice results. It was also the question that drew me into PPCG (from Hot), and the first one I answered.
(Even though mine is neither particularly clever or beautiful)
02:36
Yeah I missed that one unfortunately
Huh... links to that site are weird. You have to actually click the minify button again
It's also just about the crappiest minifier ever. Doesn't change any variable names
But it saves you a couple thousand
Yea, I've got it saved. It's a great way to save time removing whitespace, though
Oh crap it was a pop contest
I'm wasting time lol
I know I could golf the hell out of it :)
Anyone watching in current anime?
02:40
Nah, my anime days are a couple years gone :(
Even then it was mostly older stuff.
This season has been pretty good so far. I usually get hooked to 1 or none every season. I'm watching like 5 right now.
Yay! My new HDD is finally linked/working properly.
Stupid busted-ass symlinks
Also, anime lately is getting eerily creepy as far as underage girl sexual innuendos
Is that a thing in Japan?
No, anime has always been creepy about underage girls :)
I mean it's getting worse though
02:43
I dunno, it has always been pretty odd. Having lived in Japan, I can definitely say that it's not exactly a "thing", they just have a different view of sexuality in general.
Did you watch Full Metal Alchemist?
The first season or so.
That one's my favorite
The emo bad guy with the spiky hair made me cry ;-(
Wait thats not a cry face
:*-(
I'm not sure if I could pick one favorite, but Outlaw Star has always been good to me, even though they only ran 26 eps.
There we go. I am good at Internet
02:45
T_T That is a cry face while you're talking about anime.
Roommate says Outlaw Star is good
It ran on CN back when Toonami was just getting the midnight slot. Before they started up with Cowboy Bebop.
I vaguely remember it. I definitely remember Toonami

I re-tagged this to the more appropriate [popularity-contest]. There are some interesting answers out here; let's not lose them via deleting this post — Quincunx 35 secs ago
^What is the opinion

12:53
@Quincunx I'm a big fan of not deleting things that aren't blatantly wrong (spam, obvious trolls, etc). So while I don't really think it needs to be reopened, I don't think it needs to be deleted, either.

@Quincunx Wait... that question is four years old....
Since the code-chess tag was removed from the post ages ago, I removed it from the title and nominated it for reopen
I'm not sure why the prompt says I "nominated" it though. I definitely wasn't the first reopen vote.
Anyone know a good python minifier?
Not one you have to download... just an online one

Hey, I've decided to stop being upset over things that ultimately don't matter and participate on the site again :P
18:31
@Geobits Over the course of ~2 months, I watched that question get closed, then slowly accumulate 3 delete votes. I figured it was time to act before it got deleted. I totally agree with you. However, I don't know how to negate delete votes without reopening the question. That is why I voted for reopening.
I'm frightened. My hard-earned place in the suggested edit review queue is being threatened by @ProgramFox : codegolf.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/stats
I've just been unlucky. ProgramFox has been on when 10+ suggested edits of syntax coloring came up. I've only been able to do <1 edit per day because when I come on, not many people edit. :-/
Actually, should we lock the fibonacci question? Many of the answers use standard loopholes.

Q: Fibonacci Sequence Generator

SLaksBuilding upon the proven success of Code Golf, I would like to introduce Code Chess. Unlike Code Golf, which strives for concision, Code Chess will strive for cleverness. Can you create a clever or unexpected Fibonacci generator? Your code must print or return either the nth Fibonacci number o...

Yea, I don't know. What exactly are the criteria for historical lock here? I haven't seen many (any?), so I don't know if they differ much from the general guidelines. For instance, "Does this question teach me anything that could make me better at my job? Can I learn something from it?" doesn't seem to apply as much to this site.
19:44
@Quincunx You do realize that most of the standard loopholes were not standard loopholes 4 years ago, right?
In other words, there was a single point in time when someone came up with the loophole and exploited it, and everyone thought it was clever and funny, and then it became old and unoriginal.
A historical lock is often used for things that used to be acceptable, but are not now. Hence the name. I'm not sure how they apply if you are targeting the answers, though, since it's normally applied to questions.
20:38
This site didn't exist 4 years ago. That question was migrated from SO over a year after it was first asked.
20:54
@Gareth didn't think you could migrate a question after something like 90 days or something
@Malachi Only moderators can, IIRC.
I had flagged a question once for migration to a site and they told me it was too old and declined the flag.
Hm. Let me look it up...
> Only questions which are younger than 60 days can be migrated to other sites. This rule applies even to moderators on the site.
??? Maybe the rules were changed.

@underground Does that mean code-trolling? I'm not!
22:50
@TheDoctor I swore in an answer and someone edited it out. I reverted the change, but it was made again, and then I left the site for three days
23:04
@undergroundmonorail and there goes your Fanatic badge... ;)
Anyone know how to downvote a website?
23:25
@m.buettner I still visited the site. Don't worry, I'm not that short-sighted :P
I just didn't do anything while I was here
