half of why i'm actually moving forward with college despite being horribly disorganized and having no work ethic whatsoever is i haven't actually been having fun in my free time anyways
Forth is one of the few non-esoteric stack-based languages. For this challenge, we will use a small subset of Forth, which simply executes a sequence of words in a linear fashion — without any definitions or loops.
In good Forth code, each word definition includes a stack effect comment, which ex...
Wait a second, I just realized you can write any brainf program with only the characters [+<>., if you use wrapping cell values and if [[ was equivalent to ]
Maybe even one of the cell pointer moving things, > and < can be replaced
So, I think I just found a challenge which one of my challenges is a dupe of. I would hammer mine closed, but the older one has "You may not use any pre-defined functions or classes which accomplish this for you" and is explained/formatted in a convoluted albeit clear enough way, which is giving me pause
Eh, guess I'll just byte the bullet and hammer mine (this one for reference)
Ok, so I've been thinking about how to best do the times for LYAL, and what about this: every other Wednesday, starting at 0UTC and going until 23:59UTC, the event is active, meaning that if discussion switches to that language, it takes priority over most other potential topics. People can still post CMCs, and we have a message pinned saying "We're currently in a LYAL event for <lang>, feel free to discuss the language, propose CMCs relevant to it and more" during that day. Thoughts?
@exedraj Which isn't that significant seeing as how the whole state sans a few rural local government areas was already in lockdown for a week or 2 before the state wide announcement
CMP: Thoughts on LYAL being a day-long event (from 0UTC to 23:59UTC, every other Wednesday), where, during the day, discussion/CMCs/whatever about the specific language is encouraged, a message is pinned letting people know the event is active, and the language is decided a couple of days in advance to provide people with plenty of notice?
@emanresuA every month I think "hmm should I have a go at this" and every month I get too scared because I know my answers will be very bad compared to language experts
@emanresuA to be fair, I went back to look at codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/219433 and was embarrassed I missed the golfing opportunity, and that's in a language I am good at!
Plus, if/when I ever do decide to take part, I intend to turn down the bounties - there are other people who could benefit/deserve the rep more than me. Unfortunately, that means I don't have much external motivation to participate, and my internal motivation wants to sleep 24/7
I sort of want to set up a deadlineless bounty for people who outgolf me (like xnor's), but I'm not that good at golfing, and I don't have that much rep :P
I guess you eventually get to a point where although you're not posting anything, you're earning rep off of what you've posted - like Dennis, or Jon Skeet
