Do y'all prefer the small light gray text that was in my first New Posts userscript test, or the normal text it currently uses?

I didn't notice any difference

If you look at a screenshot of one of the earlier versions, you can see that the text is a bit smaller and lighter
First one is current appearance, second one is original one

New one's better

The first screenshot?

why can't I see what caird's sock puppet's two meta badges are?

8:49 PM
well, it changed since I answered, but before it wasn't showing me any badges

Still not full release but this one's probably actually usable compared to the previous two
(Note that the default in this one is for posts to never age away, you'll need to set DISCARD_AFTER to 15 * MINUTES)

9:13 PM
Looks like it still shows @cairdcoinheringaahing's old username here.
Do the names of users who edited CW answers not get updated?

It doesn't make sense to not update cuz it should be loading the name given the ID, but I don't get how SE works :P
If someone edits it might fix itself because the revision logs to show updated names but unless that happens guess we won't find out (and I don't intend to bump just to test)
again, wish there was a Sandbox.SE lol

Time for a proposal on Area51?

@OriginalOriginalOriginalVI status-bydesign

@cairdcoinheringaahing Oh, I see

Sounds like a bug masked as "by-design" by me. — casperOne Apr 30 '12 at 17:19

The comment below that is more accurate.
@casper more accurately described as "don't care" masked by same — Jeff Atwood Apr 30 '12 at 22:02

9:43 PM
That's the app link

10:10 PM
I'm not sure if I like the fact that SE keep track of upvotes after you repcap
Kinda feels like it's telling me "Hey, look what you're missing out on"

10:24 PM
Easy solution: don't repcap :p

But how else will I become Epic? :P
> Next badge
50/50
Epic

@Lyxal oh thanks! not sure if this is different from the version i had but maybe some things will work better; at least, it works and nothing breaks so :P

@Anush Of a possible 65536 2 byte Jelly programs, 51977 are syntaxically valid

new golf strat pipe /dev/urandom into a jelly interpreter until you get the desired result
2

My calculating: No 2 byte program can end with ¦, ¿ or ? as they all require at least 2 characters before them. 31 characters (©£Ŀŀ¦¡¿/ƒ\#?Ƒ@`"'þ{}€ÞƝƤƙɼƭⱮƇƬ) cannot be the first character. If a program in the forms <atom><char> or <char><atom> is valid, then it is valid for all atoms (no special casing). Of the 76 monads, each of them begins 245 different valid programs (250 for the 69 dyads, 240 for the 25 nilads). Therefore, 41870 valid programs begin with an atom. (cont)
(cont) I then went through the non-atom characters, figuring out for each, of the 256 programs beginning with that character, how many are valid. Typically, the answer is between 225 (<char><quick or )> is invalid) and 253 (all except for the 3 ends in the characters above). Here's the list for each:

10:38 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I'm leaving it as my currently tracked badge until it becomes 51/50

From that, I just summed to get to 51977

For two hours I've been an upvote away from repcapping :/

That's an easy way to get either an upvote or a downvote :P

I'd honestly prefer the second :p

10:53 PM
Google play store for watch: ~30 app updates available

Me: Wow that's a lot of updates I should do something about this

*goes to play store on watch*

Google: nah jk there's only 5 updates available get pranked lol

Great, I just reached my daily vote limit.

@cairdcoinheringaahing 69 dyads. Nice
Dennis really do be making funny number references

11:12 PM
Vote capped :/

@RedwolfPrograms Did you vote cap before rep capping?

If it's about the synonym thing, would it help if I retag all my challenges with or to ?

Please don't

:P
Just an idea

11:19 PM
Would that increase a bunch of people's tag scores in it?

The synonym system is there fore a reason, as broken as it is :P

That could actually be helpful, since we need three more votes
Maybe just one or two specific ones that have lots of highly voted answers by active people?

I enjoy voting on things, I'll try and post a few answers to to add another vote

Just retagged this one
I don't really have that many encoding-related challenges anyway

In about four hours the tag scores will be updated, that'll add Razetime and a few other people to the list of people who are able to vote on it

11:24 PM
It happens at 4am UTC?

3am IIRC
So about 3.5h
CMQ: Find the nearest electrical outlet/receptacle. What type is it?

Are synonyms unidirectional or bidirectional? (or both?)
@RedwolfPrograms Upside down, looking like the therefore symbol

Unidirectional, as there's one canonical tag for all the synonyms of it

If X is a synonym of Y, that means that whenever someone searches for or tries to add X to a question, Y will show up instead
(Kinda)

So it's like a forest, or disjoint set structure with roots

11:28 PM
I have normal North American outlets (Type B)

I don't know what mine look like because they all have stuff plugged in

Are they just the normal Australian ones with the long, flat pins at an angle to each other?

Yeah probably

> This could be half the size if we could take input from the command line
Got t love old questions :/

Actually if you ignore the one right next to my head, the closest outlet to me is probably one for a clothes dryer directly below me. I don't go near it though because 240v plugs here are terrifying

11:41 PM
Anyone else drinking tea right now?

Alright, I now have 4 answers

Drinking a beer here :P

@Lyxal I wish I were

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

jumbotMy first proposal for a KOTH - looking for some feedback :) Dodgeball - Python 3 KOTH Dodgeball is a game where two teams stand on opposite sides of a large hall and throw large soft balls with the aim of hitting, and thus eliminating, the opposition. The basic rules are: a player may pick up a ...

next to the "synonyms" link, does anyone else see a "merge" link (under tags)?

11:42 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing What's the age limit in the UK?

@hyper-neutrino Nope, that's mod only
@OriginalOriginalOriginalVI 18

Unless you're in your own home, in which case I think it's 5

Only thing we get to do at 18 is register for the draft
@cairdcoinheringaahing I think it's similar here, although how much you can drink is restricted

@OriginalOriginalOriginalVI lol imagine that. Made also by Australian gang

11:43 PM
ah, okay. just wanted to check. it also says i can make a synonym after merging, so i don't know if that would count as validating the suggestion or just replacing it with my own action, so i'll leave it to people to vote for badge purposes :P

Well, I don't really care about badges (except Socratic and Legendary) :P

I think Redwolf's the only one who gets a badge (Synonymizer), so long as it's "approved"

What score do you need to vote on a tag?

6 hours ago, by Redwolf Programs
I suggested the synonym. If anyone here has 5 score in , you should be able to vote on it. If you don't, if you post some answers on you should definitely get a few upvotes and be able to vote

Which is so broken :P

11:47 PM
2500 rep overall and 5 on the tag

One good answer on the tag and you can vote and suggest, but if you have bucketloads of rep but only +4, you can't
Dennis for example, can only just vote on it, with 1 answer at +6 :/

There's no minimum number of answers needed?

Tbf there aren't a lot of questions in the first place

Is it an actual 1 answer limit? having a non-zero score implies having at least 1 answer, so I wonder if it's a hard requirement or if it's not actually checked

11:50 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Yeah, it makes no sense. Especially on other sites, it'd probably be pretty annoying to have to get four people to answer questions in some super niche field to be able to make one synonym without involving a mod.

@hyper-neutrino Implicitly checked I would guess
I do like the that allows voting on any tag synonym at 7.5k

Yeah, we need a 7.5k privilege
It's so boring being stuck between 5k and 10k

If I could design the privileges however I wanted though, I'd make closing and reopening 2.5k, and editing 7.5k

Frick. It's just started raining and I still having brought the bins in yet (it was bin collection night last night). The lids are still open and they'll be filled with water now.

11:52 PM
@Lyxal Go close the lids then :P
Or bring the bins in

@cairdcoinheringaahing and get drenched in rain? No thanks.
Okay nvm it stopped raining

well that was fast

That's some convenient rain

The lid on mine's all messed up so rainwater always gets in, and it weighs a ton and a half whenever it rains

That's Australia for ya

11:53 PM
It's similar here

You'd think in Australia the water would go back into the sky

does water not evaporate where you live?

No it falls even when the sun is out

Water never evaporates quickly enough :(

@RedwolfPrograms I like the idea of having "small" moderation/milestone privileges unlocked every few k or so (maybe 5k, 6.5k, 8k, 10k), stuff like expanding the more hidden abilities (e.g. tags)

11:55 PM
@hyper-neutrino that's more what would happen in the middle of the country
Okay no it's raining again

I've broken out the ol' Add++ for a couple of questions and I miss having sub-15 byte answers :P

Here's a weird idea: At 1k or so you'd unlock closing/reopening, but it'd only count for a small portion of the votes needed (maybe 1/10th). It'd keep increasing, until at 10k (or maybe 20k) it'd max out at something like 1/2 of the needed votes.

Or you could just view close/reopen votes at 1k but not actually cast them
It sounds a little complicated to have fractional votes

TBH changing inline tag editing to 7.5k would probably be decent enough

@RedwolfPrograms Shouldn't the vote be fair
Or equal I would say

11:58 PM
I feel like you should be able to see close votes at least as early as 500 rep, actually

It's not a massive change, but it's a way to make tag editing quicker and easier, so it perfectly bridges the gap between 5 and 10 k

There should be a post on Mother Meta somewhere like this
Or someone could make one
