Announcement: To facilitate more participation for the LotM, I will award 50-rep bounties to first 5 answers in Forth by each user who hasn't used Forth before.

1:02 AM
now 54 in binary, which is the last time it's going to be binary until it reaches 56

You can get +1 rep IIRC
If you undo a downvote, that'll get you to 55

CMC: Given an integer > 0, return true if there exists a user with a rep equal to that number in binary else false

@cairdcoinheringaahing VTC as unclear: Should the code work in the future as well as right now? Or is it sufficient to work just right now?

3:15 AM
@Bubbler that sad moment when I've already answered in forth this month

3:26 AM
@Bubbler It should only work in the past, and fail in either the present or the future :P

4:24 AM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Can I pick an arbitrary moment in the past?
Then I pick the moment the site was just created, and then Jelly, 1 byte: 0

Anyone play osu here?

I have an account
(with the same username and avatar as this one)

oh nice
I used to play it long ago

and I was once a pretty heavy player in all 4 modes (if it still has 4)

yes, still has 4
do you think it'd be interesting to have a challenge to make an osu catch style game?

4:29 AM
Well, idk

I'm thinking input as an array of [time, point value] pairs
maybe I'll just put it up in the sadbox

It might work if you detail the rules (how to draw fruits, how to move the player, catching and missing etc) with sufficient detail
Yeah, give it a try

it's gotta be stripped down for sure

Actually it can be simple enough to permit

hmm
maybe make separate challenges of ascii and graphical
@Bubbler Never knew you posted replays on youtube

4:33 AM
:)

mind if I use your videos as an example?

No problem

5:28 AM
ok done

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

RazetimeCatch the fruit graphical-output Implement a osu!catch style game. Introduction osu!catch is a rhythm game where the player moves a "basket" to catch "fruits" falling from the top of the screen to the beat of a song. Think pong, but with timing. It is highly recommended to watch this video before...

Q: Display the exponent from a binary floating point number as a decimal value

Maximilian RoseHad my software final exams recently, one of the last questions had me thinking for a while after the exam had finished. Background IEEE754 numbers are according to the below layout The exponent is stored as n + 127 so for an exponent of 20 the exponent in binary would be: 127 + 20 = 147 then 10...

10:35 AM
@Bubbler Surely it would be 1 as the first user would have exactly 1 rep?

might even be 5 with the association bonus

CMM: What's our policy on editing in explanations for other peoples' answers? Especially older answers

1:08 PM
I would only correct typos, or make similar, very small changes. Any substantial change, like adding an explanation, should be left to the author, in my opinion

@LuisMendo Generally I'd agree. The reason I ask however is that I occasionally find old Jelly answers by Erik and Leaky, who both had a tendency to forgo explanations and just FGITW. Both of them are inactive now, and some of their better answers would benefit from an explanation
Thought it'd be a good idea to check before just editing them in though

1:27 PM
Has anyone used ESMin here before?

1:51 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I'd say if they were dismissive about explanations, who are we to change that :-)
And my previous point still applies: explanations and author's intent are a sensitive area.

2:05 PM
@LuisMendo I 100% agree with your point about explanations and intent, I just look at unexplained answers (especially in languages I know) and think it's a real shame the OP couldn't be bothered to put in the effort to explain it
It's why I have in my profile:
> Furthermore, if any of my answers are lacking explanations, let me know and I'll add one in.

@dzaima why does simpleoverlap remove some characters here? Canvas, 26 bytes: S{┤]⁵╷H/;╷-×+∔}/║:┘{;:┘1╋╋
also, is there a shortcut for the "Step" button?

@Razetime appears not. probably should exist
@Razetime because that's apparently what i wanted it to do - override anything an everything
i have a noBGOverlap defined that'd work here, but nothing uses it

that would be great pls

3:36 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I agree with you. I tend to add explanations too. But I remember Erik hardly ever including an explanation. About Leaky I'm not so sure

IIRC Leaky usually did if someone asked him to, but otherwise wouldn't

@dzaima how do I use that with eval?

@Razetime not easily. And it'd be longer than replacing the problematic slashes with a more usual character, using , and replacing them back

4:07 PM
hmm replacing the problematic slashes cgonna be difficult

@Razetime something like this

ye, there's quite a few things to consider

Q: Convert height to Men’s Jacket Sizes

anatolygIn the US, clothing size sometimes has rough designations like M, L, XXL, etc. The US designation of the "men's jacket" category depends on the height of the person. So, in this challenge, you should implement this conversion, which is defined by the following table, taken from this site: US siz...
