I swear if this Neil person forces us into a full election cycle and we have to wait an extra week
> This is a serious nomination despite it's language. Can't push the envelope by being like everyone else

@quartata I thought primary + election is always 8 days
If there's a primary, the rest gets shorter

Unless we only get 2 nominations....
not sure what to say

@quartata That's impossible
There's no way that could happen

but what if it did
ok this has to be a joke right:

10:05 PM
@quartata Then I would be severely disappointed in mego

just checking

@quartata i am in favor of this happening

@DJMcMayhem ?? You + Mego = 2

@DJMcMayhem So if you are elected do you promise not to change your name, at least while being a mod? :-P

If it went over 2

10:06 PM
@quartata + Neil
Wait, now I'm even more confused

@DJMcMayhem right. Neil would force an election
even though he's trolling

@Riker ahah

@Poke 2nd offense lawsuit is just a huge waste of money

in 2018 Programming Puzzles & Code Golf Moderator Election Chat, 1 hour ago, by Grace Note
The minimum required number of nominees is 1 higher than the number of seats to be filled (so in this case, 3)
@quartata ^

If that was the case I would have sued Mendeleev already

10:08 PM
@quartata he says not
but it's def a troll
@quartata ouch

@DJMcMayhem oh I forgot it would get canceled

^^^

in that case I'll nominate the Laff-O-Tron

@quartata I love how you're more willing to nominate your chatbot then yourself

have you seen commodoreHustle? It'd probably win

10:11 PM
sorry to interrupt, but can anyone point me to how image-based programming language entries are scored? Like Piet and Mycelium

@Unihedron bytecount of img file

Piet is scored in codels

oh, nvm

@Poke don't engage
I assume it's a swedish fish though

swedish fish are red tho
red with the blood of their enemies and karl marx's kool-aid

10:16 PM
@GraceNote Is it possible to delete a troll nomination?

gotta love google: "heyyyya" shows me the appropriate result

@DJMcMayhem I guess it is time to revive the -15 meme.

CMC: given a list of strings, yield a list of strings such that each string in that list is the first character is the first character of string A and the second character is the last character of string B, for overlapping pairs of strings (A, B) in the input. Example IO: ["hello", "world", "anew"] => ["hw", "wa"]

@BetaDecay Haven't seen you in a while, where are you hiding?

ey we have 2018 ads

10:22 PM
oh yay

i see mine now

@ConorO'Brien I don't get it.

i was worried about text size but it looks fine yay

@ConorO'Brien shouldn't the output be either "ho", "wd", "aw" or "hd", "ww"?

oh boy I made a mistake hold on
["ow", "da"], sorry

10:25 PM
^

I am even more confused now :D

tl;dr for each pair of strings in a list of strings return the pair (A[-1], B[0])

ruby, 40 ->x{x.each_cons(2).map{|x,y|x[-1]+y[0]}} tio.run/…

@ConorO'Brien OK, that is better.

10:27 PM
haskell, 37 bytes: zipWith(\a b->[last b,head a])=<<tail

haskell, 36 bytes: zipWith(\a b->[last b,a!!0])=<<tail
or zipWith(\a b->[last a,b!!0])<*>tail

@ConorO'Brien V, 10 bytes, feels too long: òedblxá òD
> @NoOneIsHere The fake New York Times would lead you to believe that I am not an adequate candidate, but remember crooked DJMcMayhem is going to steal from the people of codegolf. I demand the release of the emails. – Neil 51 secs ago
......

does this guy think he's funny? I hope not :/

f=lambda a,*b:[a[-1]+b[0][0],*f(*b)]if b else[]

10:38 PM
@ConorO'Brien i won't lie, it did give me a chuckle but it's not the right place

I think this mod candidate post should be deleted as spam.

The comments only confirm it.

Only a CM can

@GraceNote How do we flag/downvote/vote-to-delete nominations?

10:40 PM
Not spam but R/A mind you

:| why can't you link to a comment on a nomination

Yeah, I realized that too

idc how its deleted, just get this childish semblance of a joke off this site :|

@mbomb007 I didn't see the comment got edited. Apparently #DJForPrison lol

It's all the Mayhem you're causing lol

10:42 PM
Haha
@LuisMendo I just remembered that I forgot to respond to this. Yes haha

Good! :-D

Probably should've posted in the other chatroom

No guarantees on the avatar though

@DJMcMayhem I think you should promise that too. I think it is important to be able to tell right away which mods are available in a chatroom.

@mbomb007 definitely don't get into the politics, that'll feed the troll
we're giving it more attention than it deserves, really

10:46 PM
^

It has been deleted

@Adám That's a fair point. I don't want to promise that I will never change either ever again, because I might want to legitimately change it some day. But I will promise that if I ever change either one, it would be a rare and permanent change, rather than willy-nilly as a joke

we don't need a whole conversation starred lol

@Adám Or maybe which are online at any given time

I'm waiting for @Mego's nomination.

Turns out writing a serious nomination post takes time :P I should've started on this sooner

10:51 PM
@Mego Yeah, I wrote it in vim, (shocker, I know) so I didn't realize there was a character limit, and ended up going like 600 characters over.
Took about an hour to write all in all

You golfed it in vim??

Not V??

V isn't exactly... Interactive

-1 didn't use ed

-1 didn't use nano

10:53 PM
I was more shocked at it being approached in the same manner as a challenge...

@totallyhuman Who even uses nano? The only reason for nano is if you're ssh'd into somewhere and don't know vim.

@trichoplax just what you want in a ppcg mod though right? :P

:)
TIL I need to learn vim for a future hypothetical ssh

There, posted my nomination

Anonymous
Now time to go answer the Q&A

10:57 PM
Curses! A candidate with a higher score has appeared!
Time to go home

@Mego And kiss some sandbox posts
(baby challenges)

eww vim

Sandbox

Where you can play with chat features (except flagging) and ch...
Use the Sandbox for that

Anonymous
@trichoplax Haha :P but yeah I should probably look at the Sandbox

11:00 PM
It was purely for the bad joke - I'm not sure the sandbox is relevant to the election... (although always happy that people put time into it)

#ThereAreTwoDifferentSandboxes

@DJMcMayhem Don't worry, we're electing two mods this time, we can elect both of you.

Which is a huge relief. I would hate to run against Mego

Anonymous
@DJMcMayhem Haha, and I'd hate to run against you

Anonymous
It would be a very close race, I'd think :P

11:05 PM
I couldn't even guess who would win lol
But I guess we'll find out

Q: The NX source-length problem

DJMcMayhemOn PPCG, we have had lots of challenges where the length of your output is dependent on the length of your source code. For the purposes of this challenge, we will call these Source-length problems. The two most well known examples of source-length problems are Output with the same length as t...

@NewMainPosts is my answer valid or am i misunderstanding the challenge?

@totallyhuman Idk, I'll check it out one I get home

11:48 PM
@DJMcMayhem you (probably) forgot to mention the winning criterion inside the post body

Oh I guess I did

... Why did I struggle so much to get it right
