Q: Bernardino identifies unaltered dollar words

Stephen SDefinition A dollar word is a word where when each of its letters is given a cent value, from a = 1 to z = 26, and the letters are summed, the result is 100. Here is an example on CodeReview, and here is a list of dollar words I found online. Input Input will be alphabetical from a-z, in your ...

Shout out to @muddyfish 's really cool answer:

Nice name for a disassembler

Hey i was just looking at that
I needed it but never got around to using it
You have a url to the place to download?

If I understand correctly, it's a built-in

Syntax?

@WheatWizard I just noticed I could improve the score by writing the hex in upper case

9:22 PM
@DownChristopher no idea

Have you checked it works?

@WheatWizard it does

Nice!

@WheatWizard with the radiation hardening rule, does it have to be any bytes changed or just one?

every byte must have one thing it can be changed to to break

9:30 PM
@WheatWizard so I can claim it works if replacing it with NUL for example breaks it even if getting replaced by a space doesn't?

C++ question: Can I reference the value of a std::map when it hasn't been initialized yet, or will it be created once I need it?
std::map<int, std::vector<int>> m;
m[7].push_back(8);
Like that ^ for example
or would I need something like:
std::map<int, std::vector<int>> m;
m[7] = {};
m[7].push_back(8);

Anonymous
If the value hasn't been assigned when it is referenced, it is default-constructed

Anonymous
So m[7].push_back(8) will work

That's what I thought
Good to know for sure though
C++ is like a jungle of weird pitfalls

OK, slightly related question: If I have a std::map<Foo, std::vector<Foo>> are there any operators that I need Foo to implement? (For example, the < operator?)
Because I don't think a map requires the less than operator, but my compiler seems to disagree

Chat Mega Challenge: Create a program that when given a string will create golfed markdown code to display the string as a code block within <pre><code></code></pre>.
Size of the output is the score.
The input string should be assumed to contain every Unicode character at least once.

> every Unicode character at least once

hypothetically, of course. It should be able to handle every Unicode character. Note that SE will display most characters, so many will not need to be HTML-escaped.
I don't have a test string ready

@DJMcMayhem Looks like you need some kind of comparator. stackoverflow.com/a/1102720/6697083

Yep, defining < is the easiest way

@WheatWizard scoring 26 now

@HyperNeutrino Hm, yes. Will change. Thanks for noticing :)

hello
I think I have an interesting challenge on the sandbox, but it didn't get upvoting enough to go to main area.
what can I do to make it more likely to advance?

@sergiol You could post a link to it here.

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

sergiolNibbles Nostalgia People from my generation certainly know what is the Nibbles game! If you are not here included, what I am asking is a one-line version the level 1 of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmeKHtei0qo (time: 14s—54s) The challenge is to write a game that is a one line, one level Nib...

A fun way to say "I have better things to do" is "That activity has high opportunity costs"
(this is probably the only place where I can share economics jokes I come up with...)

I wonder what a graph of the join/leave frequencies of TNB would look like.

11:03 PM
You could write that script.

Indeed.
That activity has high opportunity costs, however ;)

I actually wonder if that information is logged.
If so, we could use the TNB data explorer

If it was, I don't think it would be in Starman's explorer, no.

@DJMcMayhem std::map in most STLs is a red black tree so yeah the keys need to be comparable
You want std::unordered_map for a hash table

I wonder what percent of people 18+ worldwide have never learned to ride a bycicle
That's an oddly specific and hard to collect statistic- to get an accurate would you'd need to go to many poor countries

11:10 PM
@noɥʇʎԀʎzɐɹƆ Plus they'd have to be willing to admit it
I admit I've never properly learned to ride my unicycle :/

Yup
I would predict most people who have bought one never have

Is it horrible if for a minute, I contemplated using a std::map<std::string, std::pair<bool, std::map<std::string, bool>>>?
(In my defense, it wasn't for code-golf :P)

One of the languages I've been working on uses Hybrid Tokens, Characters, and Raw bytes.

@DJMcMayhem A minute? No, an hour.
[/s] (have been kicked before for sarcasm that wasn't detected as such)

RANGE RANGE FLATTEN ADD REDUCE is a 5 byte solution to calculate the sum of the nth triangle number.

11:15 PM
@DJMcMayhem for what data?

Code golf could be defined abstractly as calculating the kolomorgov complexity of encoding a function that accepts produces the same result as a second function in that second function's domain
(Not including randomness based ones, of course)

@HelkaHomba Uhhmmm, that's hard to explain. But basically there's a data logging screen, and it will display all events in a time range, but we might want to filter out some events based on either a) The object that logged the event, or b) The type of event logged. If the filter menu has an object unselected, then there's no point in showing the event types that belong to that object.
Am I explaining myself well at all?

uh
it's not a big deal :P

std::map<std::string, std::pair<bool, std::map<std::string, bool>>>
         Object name, ^ ^ ^ Is this filter selected?
                                |     |        |
                                |     |        The filter name
                                |     |
                                |     The corresponding filters
                                |
                                Is the object selected?

Showing that type would be a great way to explain the purpose of OO.

11:46 PM
In math.js [1,2,3]==[1,2,3] returns [true,true,true]
I'm not sure how I feel about that.

11:58 PM
omfg wtf is this
my comp has been backing up for 27 hours
>_<
and it's at 9 GB/62.5 gb

I think it would have been faster and more convenient to have just cloned your drive.
