@ConorO'Brien not yet

@Dennis I had to read that twice, despite that capital A :P

@Dennis The encoding doesn't actually matter. It looks at the characters themselves.

Anonymous
It just uses whatever the system encoding is to determine what characters are being used

You could have a program written in Latin-1, but you'd be missing out on a lot of commands

That's an issue.
Because Win-1252 is the Windows default.

11:05 PM
You can easily change that

Most people won't.

Anonymous
chcp 437 for CP437, chcp 65001 for UTF-8

Anonymous
The laziness of most people is not my problem
3

Fair enough.

@Mego btw when seraching "Seriously github" or "Actually github" on google your repo is result no. 2

11:07 PM
@Mego Oh, so I have to find a way to set TIO to CP437. I don't think I even have that codepage. :/

Can't you arbitrarily map UTF-8 to other codepages?
I mean, it's just bytes to byte.

@Riker May be worth buying if it's anything like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverted_Jenny

@Mego is there an actually room?

@ATaco Yes but Actually won't interpret the byte stream as CP437 if the system encoding isn't CP437 is what he's saying

Hmm, excellent point.

11:19 PM
@Mendeleev pls stahp changing stories 0/10

I have optimised my Turtlèd interpreter a lot
I think the main part was just using the mutability of lists
wait a minute, now my original interpreter is wrong
actually I'm not sure I have anymore

Anyone listen to Hamilton music?

My mate does.
Won't stop talking about it.

As in the musical?

Yes
@ATaco "mate" what an aussie thing to say
Also @ATaco you should try it. SUper good

11:31 PM
@DownChristopher Gasp, it's almost like I'm Aussie.

TIL US postal service performs arrests

So does US airlines apparently.
Was that too abbrasive?

*United (which is not govt run)

Still a US company, which was my point.

But the USPS is a government agency, like NASA, not really a company

11:34 PM
@Mego Sorry for bugging you again. I still can't find a CP437 locale for my system, but b'\x1e'.decode('cp437') returns '\x1e' instead of the expected '▲', and '▲'.encode('cp437') gives an error. What am I missing here?

@ATaco NO way! I guess sarcasm is wasted on you
<sarcasm>

@BetaDecay Done.

@ATaco What's the biggest road train you've ever seen? I've seen 3-trailer semis in California at most

@ATaco IDK, I use 'Mate' all the time, I've lived in America my whole life.

I've never seen a Road Train.

11:36 PM
:/

You seem them more in Remote areas.

@Dennis the character set is sometimes called 'ibm437'; you might want to try that instead to see if it works

@Dennis FWIW I had an error like that on my windows computer

@ais523 As far as Python is concerned, those seem to be synonyms.
@ConorO'Brien With Actually or the code I ran?

with actually

11:40 PM
Since you're already testing stuff, could you save the bytes 1E 67 in a file, run chcp 437, execute Actually with that file and give it input 8,14?

well I can't, actually won't run
λ python2 seriously\seriously.py
  File "seriously\seriously.py", line 173
SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xe2' in file seriously\seriously.py on line 173, but no encoding declared; see python.org/dev/peps/pep-0263 for details

Oh, OK.
Actually is written for Python 3.

I assumed it was py2 because py3 errored
λ python seriously\seriously.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "seriously\seriously.py", line 17, in <module>
    from . import SeriouslyCommands
SystemError: Parent module '' not loaded, cannot perform relative import

And the executable is srs afaik.

11:42 PM
It is

@Dennis On any other website I would think you're trying to hack Conor

:P

C:\Users\Conor O'Brien\Documents\Programming\Seriously (master)
λ xxd t
00000000: 1e67                                     .g

C:\Users\Conor O'Brien\Documents\Programming\Seriously (master)
λ echo 8,14|python srs -f t
2
@Dennis

That's after the chcp command, yes?

er, no
forgot about that
same thing after the command

11:46 PM
Crap. Thanks anyway.

no problem, and good luck

@Mego ^ (help)

Did it break recently or something? You've had Actually on TIO for quite a while.

TIO is using Actually in UTF-8 mode. This is for a PPCG answer where I'd need to use a specific byte stream.

At dinner right now, will help you when I get home @Dennis

11:54 PM
OK, thank you.

@Downgoat not changing today ever

@Mendeleev >_> i am not able to parse sentence can you add subject/comma

@Downgoat check updated_at

oh, I actually just did a PATCH to revert it >_>
I can check logs tho
.______. who cleared logs
