@HelkaHomba was that supposed to be a pro and a con? Because that sounded like 2 pros

I like it

@ETHproductions I also see an I, 3, M, and W ;)

and an F

and square O if rotated

It's hard to do photo editing with MSPaint

12:03 AM
-_-
Actually I'm using MSPaint as well

original or remake?

Uh, the Windows 7 version, if that's the remake

I suppose you have the original file to, and not a JPeg.

indeed

Attempting to make music, here's what I have so far: (CC @ГригорийПерельман)

12:05 AM
@ATaco It's a PNG = probably original + lossless anyway

Alright, the new avatar should show up whenever chat feels like loading it

I saved as PNG, but I'm editing a JPeg.

@ETHproductions Go swap your owning site to something other than PCG and back chat.stackexchange.com/users/155790

@ATaco wat? but the image here is a png

Q: Office Escape: Plan your way out!

VisualMelonIt's the final sprint... and half your team is off ill. You're working late, just making your last commit for the day, looking forward to... why have the lights turned off? I don't remember the security guy coming around... oh no! I left my keys at home! As the horror of the situation sinks in, ...

That was easy
It's impossible to tell the difference though at this size
But maybe now you can see it

Still doesn't load (I clicked the icon on your name)
TIL @ETHproductions is a lion

@ETHproductions I can

@Mendeleev nice

@DestructibleLemon Thanks

12:08 AM
@Mendeleev I missed the reference

@ETHproductions I accidentally mistyped "name" as "mane"

oh haha

I have no idea how to use FL Studio
I just downloaded the demo, installed it in Wine
Tried making something

@ASCII-only Regardless, I had a compressed image to work with.

Oh well, I'll fix it tomorrow

gtg now, g'night

@ГригорийПерельман oh, gist, dur

12:15 AM
@ATaco So? It's lossless, plus it's probably the format ETH used in the first place

Didn't know they oneboxed like that

What did you need it for, anyway?

@DestructibleLemon 404

no 404 for me!!!

The image I was working with had loss.

12:16 AM

@Mendeleev Your url is missing "'t even"

@HelkaHomba It's what I get when I click the link
OK, I see it now

@Mendeleev Cool! I write music occasionally, I use MuseScore
Makes more orchestral sounds than electronic ones

@ATaco D: what where did you get it from

@ГригорийПерельман Yeah, I've used it, I used to play the piano a lot and I had to use it to rewrite some scores into single page versions

12:19 AM
The slightly upscaled version of it.
Which, unsurprisingly, had some issues with Cupic Interpolation.

@ATaco as in cupid?

@ATaco Yeah but it's all lines, you should have used linear interpolation

@HelkaHomba ಠ_ಠ

I didn't upscale it.

12:22 AM
@ATaco ok 1. that's not loss it's upscaling, 2. you should just have used the full size version not a bigger than full size one

@ATaco in your commands userscript, can you replace (.*)/o_o(.*) with $1ಠ_ಠ$2, so it works if the command is anywhere in the message?

'Eh, sure.

@Mendeleev Why is there a dark squiggle thing? or does that hide personal info?

@MistahFiggins Hangouts profile picture

?
not quite sure what that means?

12:26 AM
Google Hangouts chrome extension, kinda like what Messenger does on mobile

@MistahFiggins chat heads

@ATaco @ETHproductions change your image already

Also, Why @Me?

because I replied to the message in question

12:30 AM
Ah, fair enough.

not in the middle

It's working fine for me.
Re-re-install it, then refresh.

Did you change the version number?

Oh you have to reinstall

12:34 AM
No sir I did not.

I think you need to do that for TamperMonkey to detect that it needs to update

Yeah, I do.

But the alternative is to just re-click the raw on the github.

haha
if you type like over and over, and then put a slash at the beginning, it changes all of them
because the last character in "like" is a /

Excellent.

This is infact a feature.

I don't see it

12:42 AM
Do you have the userscript?

Yes

try pulling it again

Anonymous
Let's calm down with the emojis, please

Ok, works
@Mego sorry

Anonymous
If you're going to play around with a chat userscript, please do it in the Sandbox room

12:43 AM
yep

@Mego can you move all the existing smiley messages

Anonymous
10 messages moved to Trash

@Downgoat Already on it :)

(?<!\\\\)(\\\\\\\\)*(\\(\\?#(.*)\\)|#(.*)) Mmmmm, Escaped Regex.

I can't even tell what that matches

12:53 AM
Well, unescaped it looks like (?<!\\)(\\\\)*(\(\?#(.*)\)|#(.*))
Which matches all ReRegex's comments.

1:37 AM
Why is LDAP so strange

@ГригорийПерельман searchmobilecomputing.techtarget.com/definition/LDAP

1:59 AM
I think I broke it.

Your IDE is borked, uninstall and reinstall

@ATaco Use IntelliJ
And a better font

@ATaco CS Teacher: Have you tried using abstract class

@ATaco The real question is why you have variable named stdin of type String.

2:07 AM
In other news, I spent 4 hours today making the above license viewer

@Downgoat That's pretty

:D also planning to add it so you can swipe to see "Permissions" "Conditions" and "Limitations" of a License as a bullet point list, which will be useful

The actual issue is that I accidentally de-referneced JDK-8, meaning that there were -no- libraries.

But why do you have a variable of type String named stdin

you guys liked that awkcaster thing? someone should make an ascii voxel game; they could use this as a start

2:38 AM
@ATaco Sometimes saving the file helps
Or there's a sneaky non-ASCII lookalike in there

@Downgoat that's actually really nice looking
5/7

I am aware Figgins.
I completely un-imported JDK 8.0
I have no idea how I even did that but it was a fun time.

seems to take input from a variable

@Riker D: only a C (71%)?
@Riker yeah, I agree it seems to be. Should be able to trivially fix with a def f(u):

2:54 AM
@Riker it also outputs to a variable

Why not name your string stdin? It's not like Java has any conventions that oracle hasn't broken already ;)

Conventions are for people without their own set of rules.

3:17 AM
maybe rename 'args' to 'a' just to be safe

@Downgoat no is 100%

@Downgoat google 5/7 meme
@DestructibleLemon hm, you're right
@GenericDisplayName that's python
oh, nvm
@Downgoat or u=input() to avoid the indenting

4:06 AM
@ГригорийПерельман reregex now supports input and import, the math lib contains all the operators you'd expect

OK guys, who has the google fu
I'm trying and failing to find a reference for a strange "globbing"-like feature in windows cmd
Some commands seem to accept "<" as a pattern for a string that does not include a period

@feersum "globbing"?

E.g. dir "<o" will list files that end in o.
And don't have a period in them.
I mean like in Unix there are "glob patterns" which have . or * as wildcards.
I don't mean really like Unix shell globbing where a list of files is expanded in the command.
Another example cd "f<" will change the directory to some directory that begins with F, if there is one.
I wonder what possessed me to type dir "<<" in the first place...

Weird, dir "<" doesn't appear to show files, only directories

4:20 AM
I'm going to attribute that to suicidal dendencies

@ASCII-only All of your files ust have extensions then.
< doesn't match strings with . in them.

But << does?
Plus <f matches f.f.f

The "Sum STDIN" challenge can now be solved with:
#import math
\r?\n/+/
(?#input)

It seems my theory of what < does was not very accurate
The challenge to find a reference on this behavior remains...

@ATaco Why is there a \r?? It's golfier to remove it.

4:24 AM
(Well you don't need the \r, but I'm testing on a Windows system)

You can also use > in a pattern, but it seems rather useless so far.
dir ">" only matches . and ..

@feersum Found it

@ASCII-only Nice
They miss cd in their list of commands that can use this.

Likewise, the following gets the product of STDIN
#import math
\n/*/#input

Actually, why not just bypass unix/windows confusion entirely and use \s+?
Not in the golfed version

4:30 AM
I like \r?\n

@ATaco 0/10 you have to account for NextSTEP's \r
> snippit
@ATaco why is add the only one with a symbol as the function name

What do you mean?
mult<a,b> and similar are usually just for under-the-hood.

@ATaco under-the-hood?

4:47 AM
mult<a,b> and similar are usually used to just get the result, where as the actual function call itself is a*b, not that mult<a,b> wont work just as well for a function call. a+b is the only one that doesn't actually need one.

4:58 AM
CMC: Write a Quine in ReRegex which hosts atleast 1 replacement.

5:15 AM
@ATaco D: 0/10 it's not on TIO yet

Dennis is currently a bit overwhelmed right now, it's on his todo list, but I'm not going to pressure him.

@ATaco oh ok yay

2 hours later…
7:37 AM
If anyone understands the Hindley-Milner type system, please help

^ grad script hurts my eyes badly

Doctor, it hurts when I run this program!

@feersum Too bad, you ran the program already

@SIGSEGV feel free to send a PR (or mess with css in devtools, tell a collaborator which site, whether you used dark theme, what hurts your eyes and what css color it should be)

Umm, that was PPCG meta, and the main hurts me worse aaaaaah
I hope I get used to it quick and not get hurt when I see the bottom

@SIGSEGV also why do you even look at the bottom

7:59 AM
@ASCII-only ಠ_ಠ oh right I can just not see it but I wouldnt get used to the theme if I don't

@SIGSEGV then just turn off the userscript?

@ASCII-only Just disabled it
And realized turning on is better
But seriously, light green text? Oh hell no.

thanks @flawr for linking moondog in chat his work is very good

@SIGSEGV pls give suggestion?

@ASCII-only For now, I do not have an idea for another color

8:16 AM
@DestructibleLemon np, what did you listen to so far?

@ГригорийПерельман Android...

Q: Merge shopping lists

Jonathan BartlettCreate a program that will compare two shopping lists from “Week A” and “Week B”. It will return any unique items contained on the list. Extension - 1: Append the two lists, with no repetition Extension - 2: Develop this to 4 Weeks of shopping and highlight the top 3 most popular items

@Cole Now that you have posted the input issue on meta, how can I take the input? Changing the input to an array of strings (ie input().split("\n")) would save only 6-ish bytes now (yes, I golfed). But a 2D array would save ~10 bytes.

8:32 AM
How is fkey used in SE api?
I think the grad script is borked a little, I think the challenges of the day should be activity-wise not popularity-wise
If not, Tetris will be stuck there forever.

8:52 AM
wikipedia has an article for everything: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrap_rage

@Downgoat Hmm, is the 'Challenges of the day' in grad script supposed to show on edit area?

@flawr a bunch
"I'm this, I'm that" is very good

Q: Non-optimal puzzles needed

peedurrrI've been tasked with creating a workshop for new programmers. As part of this, I want to set a few puzzles. What I need is something simple/short(ish) for them to figure out - 'what does this code do'? The next step will be for them to refactor it - the original needs to be sub-optimal. An e...

Hmm, I am thinking of a hard challenge
"mfw I'm too lazy to post an answer" Description: Let your code post itself in the answers

@SIGSEGV ???
0/10 not hard just is web-based, frowned upon

10:23 AM
...oh
Well then, prove it isn't hard.
Another quine idea: radiation-hardening quine (obtw golfscript could solve it in a blink of an eye)

10:38 AM
I've got the perfect candidate for code bowling
If you alter any one character of a program into another character in the same codepage, it will still be a quine

Okx
Lenguage
It only cares about the program length.

@Okx I need to ban languages that only care about length then

Okx
Though, since it needs a quine...

@Okx That's true
I don't need a ban then hahah

Okx
Yep, since because of the quine reason, Lenguage will be implicitly banned.

10:47 AM
@fergusq How do I use key instead of cmp?

@SIGSEGV Plus you're basically going "do this but make it a quine"
@Okx How
If you do it right you can make a quine in Lenguage

Okx
This is radiation hardening, though

Oh true

Technically the opposite of radiation hardening

11:20 AM
Can anyone explain (or a link) How PPCG works?

Okx
@SagarV Thanks for asking in chat before posting an answer! PPCG is a site where you can post challenges (generally code-golf) and get solutions for that challenge. The most common type of challenge is code-golf, which means users try to make a solution to the challenge in as few bytes as possible. Any language is allowed.

Thanks @Okx for the quick response.
So, what are all the things I have to care before posting Q/A?

!oγ

I actually was able to chat with someone on omegle and I invited them to the site

11:28 AM
Wow

They live in the america place so I can't actually interact with them that much though so :/
@betseg you discuss questions and then ignore the questions
which are mostly just sleazy crap anyway about rating and crap

@DestructibleLemon ?

When you use omegle, don't go straight to text chat
click the button below it and discuss questions

Actually I've never used Omegle

ome-what? That troll farm still exists?

11:31 AM
@DestructibleLemon wow thats interesting could you tell me more

@JanDvorak I tried to talk on Omegle. I failed. I have only found predators so far...

@EriktheOutgolfer Predators? like what?

@SIGSEGV pedophilia and such, I'd guess

@SIGSEGV People wanting to talk in other places with me.
I guess they don't want me to be anonymous.

ohh

11:37 AM
Yeah, I'm not easily lured.
Basically I think I am constantly finding bots.
See here for an example.

Hmm
Should we make an omegle bot which will catch bad dudes and bots on omegle

Is Omegle even a real thing? (I haven't tried video)

maybe

Tried discussing a question, and viewing discussion, but a stranger is always getting disconnected. Omegle is borked.

11:59 AM
I made a Python abomination
def add_state(init=None):

    def decorator(f):
        def wrap(*args, **kwargs):

@add_state({"n": 0})
def f(s):
    s.n += 1
    return s.n

print(f()) # 1
print(f()) # 2
yet strangely I kind of like it

Hi

Okx
Hi

@KritixiLithos Like this: sort key={|a|[#a]}. It's similar to Python.

Would making a programming language which consists of a sound file where the abscissa value of each peak makes the source code, a good idea

12:34 PM
it would still likely be easier to code in than Malebolge

Did you mean: Malbolge?

Either would work :-)

@SIGSEGV you appear to have lost the word "be" from your sentence.

Umm.. what?

The sentence should end with "be a good idea?"

12:41 PM
Ohh I see
system("stty cooked echo"); ...How did cooked echo taste like?
I mean, considering unix commands as edibles, then cooking them, is obviously not a good idea

Okx
I do it all the time

Q: Division and remainder

LeoThis challenge, while probably trivial in most "standard" languages, is addressed to those languages wich are so esoteric, low-level, and/or difficult to use that are very rarely seen on this site. It should provide an interesting problem to solve, so this is your occasion to try that weird langu...

@ГригорийПерельман I'm not familiar with dart, so I don't know what that's meaning. In actual PowerShell, it would bankers-round the 0.5 to 0, so you'd get 11 again. I'm not sure what dart is doing.

1:09 PM
@NewMainPosts I can't believe that challenge has never been asked

@Fatalize I'm surprised it isn't quite as trivial as it sounds

Q: Queueing With Friends

PokeYou're with your best bud, Jim, at the amusement park and as your favorite ride comes into view, you and Jim exchange glances. Naturally you race to get in line. Unfortunately he wins because you're a golfer and he plays a real sport (sorry friends). In fact, you're so far behind that you and Jim...

> Summary
Since January 19, the Google Chrome team has been investigating a series of failures by Symantec Corporation to properly validate certificates. Over the course of this investigation, the explanations provided by Symantec have revealed a continually increasing scope of misissuance with each set of questions from members of the Google Chrome team; an initial set of reportedly 127 certificates has expanded to include at least 30,000 certificates, issued over a period spanning several years. This is also coupled with a series of failures following the previous set of misissued certifi
TL;DR: symantec didn't vet their certs good
and many many certs they gave were bad

i reloaded chat, userscript gone ;_;

@betseg wait PPCG userscript?

yes

@KritixiLithos go for it; i'm going to update the spec to reflect what appears to be community consensus
@KritixiLithos I'm going to delete my comment and just add a comment reflecting the update. Thank you for your patience.

@betseg @ETHproductions @ASCII-only idk why what PPCG userscript go bye bye when reload chat

@DJMcMayhem showerthought: hitting "need healing" as genji should instakill you

@Riker I can get behind this initiative.

and the "more support" is a pita also
iirc that one only shows up for support classes anyway sooo

When has this community become Arqade

I'm fine with healing Genji as long as he is not halfway across the map and jumping around like an idiot. Genjis and tracers are the only people I can't reliably hit with Ana shots.

2:25 PM
> ana
there's your problem /s
@SIGSEGV it hasn't
90% of the time it's not about games
@ГригорийПерельман zenyatta homing missile OP

My friend is a hard-code Zenyatta main, and I never solo queue, so I end up never playing zen.

ah
he's really fun

Like, 150 hours Zen 10 hours rest combined.

lol
tha'ts a bit excessive

I don't have a main, though I tend to play supports I have pretty even times with almost everyone.
Except Zen and Sombra
Screw Sombra
Anyway, I gtg I have class.

Q: How do we know that our question can graduate from the sandbox?

SparklePonyI have a couple of sandbox posts that have been there for a while. I have not posted them yet, though, because I don't know if they are ready... How does one know if their ideas are ready to graduate from the sandbox?
