@Fatalize holy smokes
@Poke Do you play Overwatch? I recently saw someone named "Poke" in an Overwatch video

Q: Jam don't add like that

DennisBackground Jelly's arithmetic atoms vectorize automatically. In fact, x + y is well-defined whenever x and y are numbers or ragged arrays of numbers. Jelly's source code implements this behavior using a generic vectorizer, but for this challenge, we'll only consider addition of integers and nest...

@Upgoat Aye, and when you asked him that question, I was basically the only other mod in the room.

12:55 AM
@TimmyD If you're bored: I know a language which needs help fixing array tokenization bugs ;)
< Unprintable object of class "Boolean" with literal value undefined >
undefined is Boolean confirmed

@PhiNotPi that's cool and all, but what do the colors mean? I mean, when I am playing the game of life, I see only black and white.

@BaldBantha There's a thing called the OTCA metapixel, which is a 2048x2048 construct in Game of Life that is capable of simulating any Life-like rule. Variations of Life is a simulator for Life-like rules where you can mix the rules. That's what you see there, with the colors.

so its not legit GoL or....
Because changing the rules sounds shady to me... I mean I'm sure its still technicaly the GoL but...

1:21 AM
No, it's Game of Life. They're using a construct that simulates another rule

so it's a program inside regular GoL that simulates GoL with different rules?

@BaldBantha yes

Essentially

Oh ok i get it now.

Do mine eyes deceive me or does this keyboard have 24 function keys?

1:32 AM
@HelkaHomba yeah it does

That was common once.

It's also got one of those pain-in-the-ass spots between the arrow keys ><

@Dennis I guess I'm too young to remember, and I can remember when computer mice were rectangular :I

What's a mouse?

I didn't own one, but I have seen it. Can't remember where.

1:39 AM
@Geobits Strange, didn't notice. Though that might be useful as jump or something in a game

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Next time you need a comic thingy for cergos, I have a weird ass-drawing.
(not of an ass)
red spiders + flaming unicorn / dragon + dude in imperial jail cell
@Geobits that actually looks pretty cool

Here come the "Hai"s...

If it's not of my ass, I'm strictly disappointed :p

...
The dragon was actually intended to be a flaming unicorn, but it turned into you?
so it does have your (sketched) ass in a sense

That sounds sketchy

1:44 AM
...
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ can't scan/photo rn.

I'm on mobile rn so eh

fuck it, here's a smaple
but suckastic
don't use that one

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I kinda see your house >_>

whatever
I don't care much.

1:47 AM
But photobooth really screwed that up
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ wtf

@Upgoat Can you make us one of these out of Cheddar?

@HelkaHomba idk it's kinda difficult with hooves

Isn't typing as well?

1:55 AM
true...

@PhiNotPi just read your blog posts, interesting read

@Upgoat Maybe you can get a gigantic computer keyboard playmat, like they have for pianos.

@NathanMerrill thanks

what's the smallest graph where 1 node has exactly 1 edge and every other node with N edges? (no loop connections)
N = 1 is 2, N = 2 isn't possible, N = 3 is 6
er, I don't think an even N works

2:07 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ BAI
You must be feeling better if you are on the computer active at 22:00...

any of you guys play path of exile?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ 04:00 here

I do
rarely

@orlp I was the Exile in Knights of the Old Republic 2, but other than that, no. :P

@NathanMerrill are you going to play in phrophecy?
starts in 18 hours....

2:10 AM
er...probably no
I had no idea

I'm gna try to get to 100 in top 10
was #4 in perandus

yeah, I don't even know what half of the tasks even mean
I mean, the standard areas and bosses I'm familar with
but I didn't know there were unique bosses
does the challenge require you to do it on hardmode?
if so, anybody that actually completes it is going to be pretty epic

I think your confused
what 'challenge' are you referring to?

the set of 40 challenges that come with prophecy?
it doesn't require you to do it on hardcore
but hardcore isn't that different from regular for experienced players

2:15 AM
well, I rarely die when I'm paying attention
its when I'm mindlessly fighting, then realize I was low
that's not entirely true
the bosses are pretty tough as well

@NathanMerrill path of exile is all about knowledge
did you ever get to maps?

nope. I got about halfway through act 3

what difficulty?
normal cruel or merciless

not sure. it was a while ago, and then I started a couple of hardmode characters

I'm a very experienced player, I get to maps in around 10 hours
that means I beat act 1 to 4 three times
once on normal, then cruel then merciless
what might take you a week your first playthrough
you will learn to do in 2 hours :)

2:22 AM
experience gain is more or less fixed though
I mean, you can move the map more efficiently
but there's the same number of enemies, right?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ WTF Is that supposed to be?

well, you never got to maps :P
it's a different system

before maps

Oh spiders IC

but for regular zones, yes, there is usually about the same amount of mobs per zone
but you can replay a zone as often as possible
so it doesn't matter how many mobs a zone has for you to kill
the question is, how fast do you kill :)
@NathanMerrill the fastest way to level in poe is to basically never stop running
if you fight higher level enemies they give more xp

2:24 AM
but they also die slower

it's much more efficient to kill almost nothing and keep running
so that you're constantly around 5 levels under the enemies' level

then how do you get items?

@NathanMerrill with a proper build they should still die really quickly
you only kill big packs and blue packs (they give like 10x regular xp)
@NathanMerrill most items come from blues, rares and bosses
you skip the rares, but you kill the bosses and blues
you really don't need many items while leveling

I agree

if you're an attack based build really only your weapon matters

2:26 AM
but I didn't realize you killed the blues

if you're a spellcaster your base damages will carry you
the only thing that's important is to get resistances on your items
you want to be at 75% elemental resistance in lightning, fire and cold

resitances? is that the orbs?

(75% is the cap)

wait, you said defense doesn't matter

well, other defensive stats don't really matter while leveling on items
but in your passives defense is important
you want to pick up a lot of life nodes

2:36 AM
@BaldBantha you can see the whole thing later hopefully
@El'endiaStarman ?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Find a copy of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (1 or 2) and play it. They're good games.
The character you play in the second one is the Exile.

so, apparently, any integer >= 2 has exactly 1 representation as a sum of 2 fibonacci numbers
is there an efficient way to find the two numbers given a large N?

O_o my code works when I add a console.log but it doesn't when I remove it... >_>

Q: Stack Overflowing

Daniel M.(Inspired by this question) Objective Your task is to write a program or function to print an ASCII version of the Stack Overflow logo to STDOUT \|/ (-) (-) (-) (-) Your program should take two inputs, referred to here as H and N. The height of the stack "container" (the parentheses) is det...

@El'endiaStarman swtor is great too. new expansion pack coming soon :P

@Maltysen I've only gotten to play maybe a couple hours of that. But yeah, seems like it'd be fun.

3:14 AM
Hexabrackets

@Upgoat you need a view counter like I have

@Quill I do have view counter

@HelkaHomba What would it look like with this input? [[[][]]][][]]][][]

err, idk, I did it by hand

3:22 AM
@Quill i have wordpress hit counter

I spy with my little eye...something that looks like...a challenge.

I think we've already done a hit counter ;)

Oh, I was talking about Helka's Hexabrackets.

@El'endiaStarman You mean me?

@Geobits link?

@El'endiaStarman Yea, I figured. I think it would look better if they went along the bottom too. Though it wouldn't change the challenge that much.

@El'endiaStarman Maybe. It's not all that interesting imo, it's fine if someone else wants to use if before I get a chance to
Things like
       __________________________
      /                          \
     /              ____________  \

look niftier

@Upgoat Can't find it right now, my search-brain isn't remembering the right keyowrds. Something like "output the number of times this program has been run".

=== OUTPUT START ===
This is borked, that is borked, everything is borked dammit
10/9 best error message

@Upgoat how about "You spoiled the cheddar"
;P

3:36 AM
@HelkaHomba Ooh nice.

@Maltysen how about: your cheese is moldy. put it in the fridge already, you f*cking idiot :P

...that also works

what about drystored cheese?

@Upgoat ♫ with a bork-bork here and a bork-bork there ♫

Everywhere a bork bork

3:42 AM
Hello

\o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ Cheddar if parsing works!

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ♫ borky-borky-bork ♫

So, when parsing works, you get cheddar?
Well shoot nvm gotta go

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I read it as a verb

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ bai
Only thing left on Cheddar before first release is for loops, I guess :D

3:44 AM
and a decent logo

I like the logo

@Quill ಠ_ಠ

@Upgoat you should call the raise keyword bork

@Upgoat While loops?

like bork ValueError()

3:46 AM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I will add whiles and a bunch of other stuff by v1.0 just trying to get a working version 0.1-alpha out first.
@Quill okay, then which one then do you like:

@Maltysen he has like a meme mode or something

@Quill I do
build with grunt install --memeify

@Upgoat With ifs and whiles you can just use syntactic sugar for fors

@Upgoat I can't remember which I voted for before, but it wasn't the one you chose. anyway, it was a joke

@Upgoat 4th down on the white bg

3:47 AM
@HelkaHomba but if I implemented whiles I'd have to make do whiles which are complicated

those can be syntactic sugar too I'd reckon

@Upgoat shouldn't it be the same syntax as an else (post condition)
do whiles are just no-precondition loop postcondition keyword
that's mostly like an else if

oh god why

@Quill y u no AST?

3:52 AM
ast?

abstract syntax tree

my compiler knowledge is AST (actually shit, thanks)

@Quill was that in response to my code?

yes

Dark orange on black

3:55 AM
@Quill do you know if switch statement's cases create new scopes?

(function(){
    this.a = "3";
    switch(4){
        case 4:
            console.log(this.a);
            this.b = "CATS";
            break;
    }
    console.log(this.b);
})()
cases are like if loops, no new scope

\o/
halp, how does cheddar interpreter work

@Upgoat It has just come to my mind that you might just go with infinte loops and a break!
Whiles and fors are just syntactic sugar with that!

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 oh no, I forgot if statements :|

4:08 AM
:(

guys, I'm making a twitter
this is big news

guy, I'm happy that you make a twitter
this is large news

pls follw me @ twitter.com/PhiNotPi if u subcrib i promis to nevr post anythng

> @PhiNotPi hasn't tweeted yet.

4:30 AM
@Quill just posted one

now put it in your SE profile

I haven't touched my SE profile in years.
So I just went through my privacy settings and fixed everything.

5:05 AM
HE WAS A SKATER GOAT HE SAID SEE YA LATER GOAT https://t.co/uOwD8rW1VM
XD

5:23 AM
@Quill done

yo @PhInOTPI, does your blog have a feed

> PhInOTPI
Also, I got the links to stay on the same domain \o/
it's still absolute links (so now the rhcloud domain is broken), but shrug

you should connect that feed up to IFTTT and let your tweetir tweet newe blog posts

What exactly do you do with the feed?
ninja'd

:O :D \o/

5:32 AM
IFTTT is pretty magical

else if should be evaluated exactly the same as ifs right?

basically

So doing this: won't break anything, right?:
            case "":     // If-statement
            case "elif": // Else-if statement

it will break

\o/

5:37 AM
else if is a post-condition, if you use it like a normal if, it'll just be a normal if

fingers hooves crossed this will work first-try

meaning it won't obey the first condition and they'll just become independant ifs

;_; it doesn't work
cheddar> var a := true
cheddar> a
true
cheddar> if a { print "a is true" }
cheddar> if a { a := false }
cheddar> a
true
cheddar> if a { print "a is true" } else { print "a is false" }

2 mins ago, by Quill
it will break

@Quill working on it

5:39 AM
@Quill ಠ_ಠ ;_;

awesome, I read nearly all of the new tweets in my twitter feed, but I generally miss out on conversation in chat, so this'll definitely help me catch your posts :)

@Quill do you catch up on bloggoat? :D

it doesn't end up in my twitter feed, so no.... :p

@Quill ;_;
@Quill solution
halp, why are so many inappropriate accounts following me >_>

@Upgoat I had a radical idea
what about sidegoat?

5:49 AM
Leftgoat = Chathuahua

frontgoat?

@Quill do you know if typeof ... !== "undefined" is slower than ... != undefined?

there's probably a perf for it

@Quill I can imagine the chaos when ifttt gets hacked.

that said, there's probably a better way to do that

5:51 AM
cheddar> var a := true
cheddar> a
true
cheddar> if a { print "a is true" }
"a is true"
\o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ YASSSSSS
@Quill jsperf is down ;_;

that wasn't your else though

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ @EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ @anyoneelsewhocares Update your cheese, I've added ifs to Cheddar!
@Quill ?

20 mins ago, by Upgoat
else if should be evaluated exactly the same as ifs right?

@Quill they aren't supposed to be?

I was just saying you didn't get else cases working yet

5:56 AM
I did
I think
idk, they are no falsy classes yet

also ternary statements pls

Should empty arrays be falsy?

@Upgoat What do ifs accept as conditions?

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ any expression

so... I think I have ifttt set up. I'll test it out probably sometime tomorrow.

5:57 AM
@Upgoat Does it work without braces?

@Upgoat can you do an if statement inside an if condition

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ yeah
@Quill of course!

if if if 1=1 {1 else 0} {1 else 0} {1 else 0}

TypeScript -_-

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ oh no, I meant they work without parenthesis not braces
no braces is good for golfing but sucks for readablilitlilility

6:01 AM
@Upgoat but JS supports no braces

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ so?
When has "JS does it" ever been a good reason to do something :P

@Upgoat And you leave out braces all the time

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ good point

It's bad for readability, but that doesn't mean you have to use it

idk, I don't want people doing if foo != bar != (baz * 3).map(=> (foo) foo + 2)[0] avocad.juic()

6:03 AM
@Upgoat Who knows, some people may want it that way

anyway, all I have left is for loops and cheddar can have it's first release

you should allow no braces and then print to stdout instantly "GO BACK TO PYTHON"

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ no, it's too unreadable

@Upgoat But golfing
Also python
If you add support to ignore colons in the wrong places, maybe a lot of valid Cheddar code could also be valid Python code

@Quill I will never print such blasphemy
@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ oh god why no
i will never let my beautiful cheese look like that snake

6:07 AM
@Upgoat can you have an IIFE in the if condition?

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ uh?
like the JS IIFE?

@Upgoat Yeah

idk what you're saying

As in if (function(){return foo;})() { print 1; }

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ something wrong with if foo { print 1 }

6:10 AM
Actually, nvm

seems redundant

looks for source grammar
@Upgoat where is the source

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ for the if?

tokenizer/states/if

6:14 AM
Wait how does ifs in if conditions work then
@Upgoat ^

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ wadda ya mean?

@Quill I was wondering, what do you think of my blog so far? (I know it's only been a single subject)

I like it

18 mins ago, by Quill
@Upgoat can you do an if statement inside an if condition

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ yeah
it calls the tokenizer again

6:18 AM
does if if 1 == 1 { print true } { print false } work?

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ no
idk what you're doing there even

IDK
But ^^^^^^
if statement inside if condition means if (<if statement here>) {doSomething();}
@Upgoat Use typeof foo !== 'undefined', it won't error for undeclared variables
