If there's one thing XCode just doesn't understand, it's indenting private: and public: inside of a C++ class definition. :/
Protip: You don't need to indent C++. You can just write a continuous stream of symbols.
@trichoplax Technically true of any language that ignores whitespace. However, my goal with this is not to golf C++. I wouldn't dare. :P
lol my best golfing is in C++ :)
(I very rarely golf)
No kidding?
You're a brave soul, my friend. A brave soul indeed.
I never did any golfing at all until I tried Tweetable Mathematical Art, and that was more or less C++ only, so I picked up some C++ and had a go...

:)
My various answers on that question are responsible for the majority of my rep
Every couple of weeks I get another few upvotes trickling through
Nice!
Vote trickling was happening to me for a while on a few of my highest voted answers but it's more or less stopped at this point.
I recommend against posting answers to that one though - it's addictive. I ended up posting about 5 or 6

:D
I can think of several questions here that are exceedingly addictive, one of which being Martin's quiz.
Another is the single challenge from which I gained most of my rep. My top answer to it
Lucky for me it's beyond me to either ask or answer - which saves me getting too distracted from the Computer Graphics private beta
Haha
Wow. That's quite an answer...
Haha
@isaacg I suggest an operator similar to .[ except that pads up to a multiple of something
23:25
I like the length 31 example
so, for example .]"test"\a3 would become testaa
@trichoplax That's a good one. The fortunes package is fun. I think my favorite snippet is 24 because it shows a terrible, terrible feature of R.
@AlexA. That is truly terrifying
It sure is.
If someone is ever away from their computer with an open R session, you can play a terrible trick on them like so:
(moved down one)
23:36
 `+` <- function(a, b) {
     if (sample(c(TRUE, FALSE), 1, prob = c(0.1, 0.9))
         a + b + 1
     else
         a + b
 }
(took me a sec to figure out the code formatting in chat)
10% of the time, when you add two numbers, it will be off by 1.
Apparently chat won't let me type the same thing twice
I had to add an ellipsis
I guess the meaning. That's really mean lol
Here's a thing!

A: Showcase your language one vote at a time [experimental challenge]

Maurisgs2 Factoid gs2 is my own little golf language that has the highest average score across submissions of all languages on shinh's golf site. It uses all 256 bytes, so it's like a cross between CJam and machine code. It's not perfect, but sometimes it's really, really good.

It assumes you're stuck in an infinite loop, because clearly there's no other reason why you'd want to type the same thing twice.
23:37
Like swapping two keys on someone's keyboard that are sufficiently rarely used they won't notice for quite some time...
Unless they hunt and peck :P
@Mauris Now it's ready for you to show us what 1 byte can do...
Done!
There's another...
...you realise you're going to have a busy few weeks??
Haha

@trichoplax the turtle is back! :)
:)
@MartinBüttner I'm going crazy trying to think up questions for CG. I'm stopping myself from posting asking how to reverse project this to get the pattern to put in a large garden to freak out visiting programmers...
Hahaha
Always freaks me out when I think I see pixelation or aliasing in real life
@trichoplax at this point, I don't see how I could contribute to the site. I've sort of accepted it's not happening this year, and will try to prepare better for round 3.
I think we started with far too few people, so it's not realistic to gain momentum
Having said that, this probably means we won't have a meaningful round 3 either - reaching the numbers within a year is probably just going to mean lots of ghost users again
I'm wildy churning out questionable questions until we hear, then I'm going to accept it and sleep for a week...
23:51
I will try to write up any potential CG.SE questions I encounter and archive them for the next round. And then hopefully in a year's time I'll also be in a better to position to write answers.
@MartinBüttner That will boost our question count, but I'm keenly aware that most of our questions are from very few people. Me asking more questions probably isn't making any difference to the impression of our site (just hopefully keeping activity up to indirectly prompt questions). I have a feeling that no amount of questions is going to make up for a small community.
Oh that's true, but the difference would be that we would have more real and fewer made up questions, which hopefully makes them more answerable.
I think the number of questions you have asked already would be more than enough if our community was active
Oh yes - questions found in practice would be much better
I feel a bit futile now that public beta seems so unlikely. It will be a relief when it's over and I can get back to something productive like a KotH
