@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I've totally broken my input method.

@VoteToClose for what? :/

Vitsy. Input simply doesn't work anymore. :c

@AlexA. Last time you asked: No. This time you ask: Yes :)

12:01 AM
@ConfusedMr_C Do get fixed width font in multiline messages, put a single line break at the beginning and either indent each line with four spaces or press the "fixed font" button.

@trichoplax and @MartinBüttner have been appointed as protem mods on Computer Graphics, congrats!

Martin too???

So Martin is now two mods...

12:04 AM
Doorknob is two as well
Here and Puzzling

Wow. Should we feel lazy for just having one site each?

No

@trichoplax I've been a one-site mod for 4.5 years now.

I feel lazy for other reasons unrelated to moderation

@AlexA. Thank you very much :)

12:06 AM
You'd better not abandon us though!

It's only recently that I would have actually been able to be a two-site mod because now we have several regulars on C.SE that are doing most of the mod work, which is awesome.

PPCG FOR LIFE

I converted from Puzzling to PPCG. I never regret the change.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's half the bytes...

12:07 AM
Only if you use our acronym
It's way more otherwise

@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ

Yes? Can I help you?

PPCG, so golfy that we golfed our own name!
3

Probably not.

haha

12:09 AM
PCG would be golfier.

WTF am I doing wrong? :I

Doesn't have the full name though.

2PCG has a smaller score if you add the ASCII values.

@VoteToClose ^

Maybe someday we'll change our name but currently the meta consensus is not to do so.
@El'endiaStarman Is this from something I should recognize?

12:11 AM
@AlexA. It's from a fairly popular TV show. Can't think of the name right now.

@AlexA. Who me? I have all this to do yet... :)

We could do CPG: Code Puzzles + Golf :D

(I just Googled everything gif and that was a good pick.)

@El'endiaStarman "Community," maybe?

@DLosc Yes, that's it.

12:12 AM
Ha! (This after having seen about four episodes several months ago.)

I've seen many gifs of scenes, but I've never watched it.

My roommate has it. It's funny sometimes.

well then.

@AlexA. Is that recursive quoting?

@Calvin'sHobbies no, multiple messages by the same user in a row get stuck in the same "box"

unless you do that

@VoteToClose FIXED WHAT?

You can do that with one message.

post a chat message and repeatedly edit it into a link to itself

@Calvin'sHobbies I lol'd legit on that one

Lisp (historically, LISP) is a family of computer programming languages with a long history and a distinctive, fully parenthesized Polish prefix notation. Originally specified in 1958, Lisp is the second-oldest high-level programming language in widespread use today; only Fortran is older (by one year). Like Fortran, Lisp has changed a great deal since its early days, and a number of dialects have existed over its history. Today, the most widely known general-purpose Lisp dialects are Common Lisp and Scheme. Lisp was originally created as a practical mathematical notation for computer programs...

Q: ASCII Art Sierpinski Triangle

jBot-42Introduction Your challenge is to create a program that prints an ASCII art Sierpinski triangle given an input on the size. 12:25 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ For your most recent challenge, does the output have to be exactly that?

@VoteToClose exactly what?

[-2,-1,0,1,2] <--- This kind of thing.
Can it be just separated by spaces, or...?

Yes
Anything generally like an array

I'm trying to decide whether allowing eval in my tinylisp challenge would make it too easy for other dialects of Lisp. But (ironically) I myself don't know Lisp dialects well enough to say.

@NewSandboxedPosts suggestions?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ If you want it to be you will have your work cut out to make it acceptable for main - pop cons are very hard to get right. If you want it to be you'll need to specify it more strictly (rather than "any amount of cells you wish").
That isn't meant to put you off making a pop con - just know in advance it's tough

Both sound equally tough ._.
What would need to change for popcon?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ If I knew that I'd write a pop con :)

12:47 AM
Oh, haha! right.

it sounds like you're about to rob a bank @trichoplax @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ

So a bunch of VB6 programmers rioted and MS announced native support for VB6 (and its runtimes) til the End-Of-Support of Windows 10. But MS also told everyone they should "just use VB8 to upgrade, it's free!". But to install VB8 you need to get a license key - and of course MS deleted the registration website for VB8 >:( ...

Creating an animation leans towards being an art contest rather than a programming contest, but it's always a subjective decision so I can't predict how people will vote.
It seems like the voting on the pop con will be about the choice of animation style, rather than about how skillful the programming is

Voting is a totally acceptable winning criterion, but the challenge has to be about the implementation, not the art itself.

If you specify it strictly enough to counter that, then it might be better as a golf
I think pop con works well for things that can't work as anything else

12:51 AM
I disagree because that includes shit challenges
Some challenges don't work as anything

@AlexA. subtle (again :P)

WHEN AM I EVER NOT SUBTLE?!?!

@AlexA. OK - I should word that better. I think those pop cons that work well don't work as anything else. There is also a terrifyingly long list of things that don't work well as anything else and would make awful pop cons

Agreed now :)
@NewMainPosts This is a cute challenge.

12:53 AM
:)

Is there a nice way to enumerate the grids that can be made by these pipes (with no discontinuities)?

What did I miss

@Calvin'sHobbies How many of each one and in what size space?

@quartata You always ask that. Are you unfamiliar with the ability to scroll up? :P

12:54 AM
I was looking at the small picture and thought "wow, unicode is getting really weird" ^^

@AlexA. No, I'm just way too lazy to scroll up.
Instead I crowdsource the scrolling up.

haha

@quartata Do you not read the entire chat transcript each time you return? Just scroll to the top and press "load to my last message"... ;)

Many years ago I used Safari for Windows until it stopped recognizing the act of scrolling up. I could only scroll down.

@trichoplax Ugh difficult

12:55 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies I cannot think of any enumeration of those that I've seen.

Why can't I crowdsource it instead?

@trichoplax In some arbitrary mxn grid. Any amounts of each, they all must connect at all ends though.

@quartata But you might miss something!

Get the masses to do it for me. It's like a merge sort but you don't have to do the conquering part afterwards.
Divide-and-conquer is better when those who divide for you do the conquering also

@AlexA. Windows update kept installing a wrong driver for my touchpad that flipped my scrolling direction. I kept reversing it until I just gave up. Now I'm used to this and stall for a few seconds everytime I try to use some else's laptop.

12:56 AM
@quartata But none of us will often know when you were here last.

@Calvin'sHobbies I SENSE a challenge brewing...

@Calvin'sHobbies Are you allowed empty squares provided all their neighbours have no loose ends?

@trichoplax Yes

@Calvin'sHobbies Eh.
You pathetic humans have "fuzzy logic." You'll just do it back to an hour or something

@Calvin'sHobbies There will probably be some relation to polyominoes.

12:57 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies Does brute force count as "nice"?

@mınxomaτ Is this not the point at which you uninstall Windows and opt for a better OS? :P

@quartata Right. You're not human, you're Italian.

@Calvin'sHobbies Rude. haha

@AlexA. I have to use windows for some things. I use arch on everything else.

@Calvin'sHobbies I'm an Italian glider, the best kind there is

12:59 AM
I come back to 42 unread messages

@mınxomaτ Windows 7 is the last usable Windows IMO.
