got a double downvote this morning despite the fact the Q&A follows most other peoples animal identification format ... but no response. I half feel that SE should force you to bloody comment if you downvote. No idea what I've done wrong, so cannot improve?!

@Aravona that has been discussed many times, but the outcomes if it was enforced would be much more negative than allowing anonymous voting

Which to me implies it was just someone not liking me rather than the Q&A lol

@RoryAlsop @Aravona The difference between that one and all of the other identification questions is that it was a self answer and since id questions really only help the OP and not anyone else they really don't make good questions to self answer

@CharlieBrumbaugh I was kinda thinking that too, but the question is well put and answered, so definitely not a reason to downvote on that account.

@RoryAlsop I am OK with it and not really complaining. But I am getting a lot of insta down votes. Have I said anything offensive you had to delete lately?

@paparazzo THe reason for that downvote is right below your answer. Not happy with people VTC and then answering as that would prevent anyone else from answering

It also really doesn't answer the question its just a bunch of discussion points and certainly not to the degree that the AT trail answer did

And while were on the subject this is what happened a while back when I commented on one of your answers,

@paparazzo, please let me know if this is a rude suggestion. It isn't meant to be. If you spent a bit of time deleting some of your comments that are or could look sarcastic, people who have been upset by them would have fewer flagging opportunities. I think that's true of all of us.

I doubt anyone goes into old posts looking for rude conversations, but whatever we can do to clean up the site will help. I've been doing it too.

I have fewer because I don't like conflict and usually if I say something that gets people mad, I delete it. If you happen to find anything out there you don't like of mine, please flag it, or at least pop in here and tell me where it is!

@Sue I am so completely done dealing with that user and quite frankly the people who enable them by making excuses for their poor irritating behaviour

@Aravona, I like that question and answer. That's a cute guy, and I guess someone made a nice meal out of him. The whole explanation of downvotes thing is so hard, but I feel if you ask sincerely, like you did, I hope the person will come forward. Like you, I just genuinely want to know what I could have done to improve.

@sue The last example from Roy is June so it is going in the right direction. Some people just have trouble moving on.

If people getting frustrated over targetted downvoted and rude comments is flaggable, I am not sure I am going to want to participate here

Especially since it has been going on for years
