4:21 AM
How are you @Liam?
Morning all :)\

1 hour later…
5:42 AM
Morning
@requiem ahh I see. My biggest thought is that the forests may not be big enough. You can probably walk them in an hour or three?

1 hour later…
7:13 AM
@nhinkle Thanks for this information. This looks like a massive screwup...

7:28 AM
@Aravona Likely; I saw it's about a 4 hour train ride to Merthyr Tydfil. Was thinking running up Pen y Fan might work.

7:50 AM
I'm still unsure about the wild camping side of things; I was thinking I might pack a bivy sack and quilt and plot a course that includes an overnight.

@requiem check out Two Blondes Walking. They massively walk the South and wild camp Dartmoor like, most weekends.
They definitely have some interesting stories etc.

Found it! Will give it a read through, thanks!

8:07 AM
No problem :) I know a bunch of people like that... Mostly from Twitter
Some places in England you can get a single night pitch for like £2-5 if you ever get stuck somewhere where you can't wild camp :)

2 hours later…
10:07 AM
Tree planting this weekend for a geocaching event, we're making it our go live outdoors February challenge too... Can safely say the last time I planted a tree was too long ago!

11:00 AM
Morning

@requiem The enter=send thing isn't modern anymore due to the more complex chats.
UX is normally like this (Facebook, Google Hangouts, Slack, Atlassian-products just to name a few):

- Type @
- Type a letter
- Get a list of matching items (for example users)

The first entry in this list is automatically selected. As you type the list gets narrowed down accordingly (cause the search pattern gets longer). Again, always the first item in this list is selected.
If you hit enter your character sequence gets auto-completed with the selected entry from the list.
@Liam morning
@requiem the "|" represents the cursor btw^^

11:43 AM
@Liam morning!

12:31 PM
@requiem You can get a fast train from London to Manchester in 2 hours! You can be in Snowdonia or the lakes in about 3-4.
@requiem Pen-y-fan is very busy FYI. Likely not an ideal place for a wild camp
@requiem What about the New forest?
The New Forest is an area of southern England which includes one of the largest remaining tracts of unenclosed pasture land, heathland and forest in the heavily populated south east of England. It covers south-west Hampshire and extends into south-east Wiltshire and towards east Dorset. The name also refers to the New Forest National Park which has similar boundaries. Additionally the New Forest local government district is a subdivision of Hampshire which covers most of the Forest and some nearby areas, although it is no longer the planning authority for the National Park itself. There are many...
FYI the new forest is one of the oldest protected lands in the world

Afternoon all! Phew too many conf calls this morning, but now lunch!

1:24 PM
@Liam it's also supposed to have a lovely deer population
@RoryAlsop afternoon!
Ok so my lazy running over winter, as in basically none, has left me feeling so lethargic... I was doing 2k three times a week. Given myself until Croatia in May to be running 5k. Gonna push myself more :)

1:39 PM
@Aravona that's still way more than me. Have been maxed out at work and am now lardy :-(

2:01 PM
@RoryAlsop aww! I've found that the pounds can slip on me so quickly and easily at the moment... Between now ar Croatia I'll have time for 34 runs... So might get there, might not
Still it's a target and I'm going to do my best!

@Aravona yes, I lived there for a short period of time
Surprised you've not been actually?
I ran up and down this on sun
Moel Famau (or Moel Fama) is the highest hill within the Clwydian Range, formerly Flintshire Range, on the boundary between Denbighshire and Flintshire in Wales. The hill, which also gives its name to the Moel Famau country park, has been classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty since 1985. It is also surrounded by several well-preserved Iron-Age hill forts. A northern part of the Offa's Dyke footpath, one of the UK's most popular National Trails, crosses the summit of Moel Famau and the Jubilee Tower. == Name == Although historical sources attest to a variety of spellings (such as Moel...

@Aravona: Congrats for hitting 6K rep :)

@WedaPashi what?! When did I do that
@Liam trust me it's on my bloody long wish list.
Also that run looks epic! I really want to be able to trail / fell run. However I need to have a good base run distance first lol

@Aravona: You just did.

@WedaPashi :D woo! Thanks!

2:12 PM
You are 6-OO7 :D

2:27 PM
@WedaPashi hehe in 1337 that'd translate as Goot O.o

for fell running you would want 6047 then

@RoryAlsop yeah definitely would be better off as a goat!
I think. Goats are cool. They climb mountains
@Liam oh oh have you heard the Snowdon Sheep Law?
No matter how high up you are on Snowdon there will always be a sheep higher up, looking down and mocking you.
2
This has occured every time I've climbed Snowdon. The bastards just hop up like it's no big deal

2:50 PM
@Aravona LOL
yep it's true. Not in winter though, they stay in the valleys then!
Baby lambs by us now
Spring on it's way

3:01 PM
@Liam thank goodness it is too!

@Liam Don't say that, I need some real winter first, otherwise autumn will directly transition to spring... :(

@imsodin I got half a day of snow. That's more winter than we usually get! Though it's oddly warm
In fact its so warm the bats are coming out of hibernation earlier than usual, thy wake up for winter feeds on warmer days but really they shouldn't be about until mid-late March, and I saw a pipistrelle this morning on my drive in.

@imsodin Two weeks of snow in the mountains this year. Rubbish. Scotland was the only place that has had any significant snow

Spoke to the Bat Conservation Trust about it, they said we can only hope they get insects coming out too, or they'll have wasted energy for nothing

@Aravona Not seen any bats. But I'm further north than you

3:17 PM
Here it is repeatedly raining up to 2000m over sealevel... And above that the avalanche situation is critical, so not good for skitouring at all.

@Liam yeah very true. I'm South / South East / Midlands... Depends who you ask.

1 hour later…
4:30 PM
Have a nice weekend all

1 hour later…
5:37 PM
@Liam you too!

4 hours later…
9:24 PM
@OddDev Oh yes, I'm familiar with the idea; it just bugs me that some kids decided to use "enter" instead of the "tab" key, the way God intended it to be.
@Liam Those also look like good ideas! I'm more partial to mountains, but will take a look at both. (Being lazy and finding a B&B might also work.)
Weather should be reasonable in midMarch then? No real snow?
