@WedaPashi You see a lot where I live. The farmers sometimes don't notice them and the birds/foxes pick the carcass clean. By the time the farmer see's it there's nothing to remove.
@Liam I don't understand why men like watching men run around in shorts and cry when they miss a goal. I've never been into a sport enough to get upset about losing. If you lose you lose, the other side or other people clearly did better on the day lol... the only sport I will watch on tv is three day eventing.
@Liam I do like rugby yes lol. But I still don't really watch it, unless there is really nothing else on. Unless it's Badminton Trials or HOTY or Olympia or the Olympics I barely even watch 3DE
I actually mostly watch documentaries on tv nowadays... lol, I try not to be in enough to watch TV lol!

@Weda semi productive? I'm basically recreating a webpage identically for another web app, rather dull but almost done on this part at least. Got a few more bits I want to get done before my coworker returns to work.
If you didn't grow up in a tropical climate, you probably heard something like this as a child...
Put on a hat before you go out because
you lose the most heat through your
head.
Some say that the reason you lose more heat through your head is because "heat rises" and most of your bod...
with ones like that my first instinct is to search Skeptics - they have some awesome questions there
@Aravona I'm 100% with you on this. I almost watch no TV, and even the kids don't seem to be that bothered that we have actually had no TV for a week (Sky box died, and while we have had odd bits on the laptop through iPlayer, it doesn't really count)
@RoryAlsop It was because the only thing I could remember from this was the: *the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two side. * I forgot the first square.
The taut-line hitch is an adjustable loop knot for use on lines under tension. It is useful when the length of a line will need to be periodically adjusted in order to maintain tension. It is made by tying a rolling hitch around the standing part after passing around an anchor object. Tension is maintained by sliding the hitch to adjust size of the loop, thus changing the effective length of the standing part without retying the knot.
It is typically used for securing tent lines in outdoor activities involving camping, by arborists when climbing trees, for creating adjustable moorings in tidal...
@Liam She was great. I wanted more maths so got free additional tuition outside school hours. And took extra maths subjects all the way through until I finished Uni. And yes, maths has come in useful every since. (definitely a geek)

I use no maths for programming (well almost none) but a fair amount in my hobbies: I build a fair few electronic devices (audio effects, guitars, home automation stuff) and they need weird maths
@Liam the bit that really ended up confusing me was some of the maths around quantum matrices, and some fourier transform stuff. It got beyond me at that point and I've never caught up
I've heard the old saying that "1/3 of your body heat is lost though your head", it's often cited as a reason to wear a hat on a cold day in the mountains.
Is this actually true? Are their any studies/resources to back this up/contradict it?

@RoryAlsop Treuddyn seems to be particularly bat friendly. I've never seen so many. The farm up the road has tons of an evening. think they nest in the cow sheds
@Liam we were worried that these two nested in our house (generally considered a bad thing) as they always fly straight at the eaves. Turns out they do a lovely swoopy/Immelman kind of thing across into the tree instead
The Immelmann turn refers to two different aircraft maneuvers:
In World War I aerial combat, an Immelmann turn was a maneuver used after an attack on another aircraft to reposition the attacking aircraft for another attack.
In modern aerobatics, an Immelmann turn (also known as a roll-off-the-top, or simply an Immelmann) is an aerobatic maneuver that results in level flight in the opposite direction at a higher altitude.

For thoose who had no idea what this meant, like me...
@RoryAlsop My bat recognition chart is out of date
@Liam Yarr. Not as much now, but my old man had us fly his plan from about the age of 4. I wanted to join the RAF but poor eyesight means I fly gliders and occasional Cessnas (with friends). Don't have my PPL yet, but have a close friend who flys 747's for Virgin Atlantic and has some gliders - so she takes us up occasionally. Mostly I'm living vicariously through my son - he gets to fly gliders in the Air Cadets
It's worth it simply for the climbing travel insurance. It's hard to find travel insurance which is comfortable with you spending long periods of time hanging from cliffs....
@Liam that I support. Although I have donated to the Coastguard, rather than mountain rescue, as they used to cover a huge percentage of the rescues up in the highlands and islands
My hair is often a point of interest, I'm 5'1 but my hair is at least 1m :)
The guys at work don't really understand why I have it so long lol, but I've been growing it since I was 15 now keep it at 1m in length - and I used to dye it a vivid orange / red.
My girlfriend and I went for a walk on Sun. We climbed 3 peaks in Snowdonia. My girlfriend had one of them Nike tracking apps running on her phone all the while. In the end it gave us these stats:
Distance: 20Km (as the crow flies)
Time: 8 hours
Calories: 4000
The calories though were based on...
@Aravona wow! That's a bit like my youngest. She is 8 but has only ever had 2 haircuts (and each one was just a split ends trim) so her hair is crazy long
My hair used to be about a foot long, but I shaved it to a number 3 in 2001 and it has stayed that length ever since
@Rory my hair is full of split ends... I don't condition it. But also I never blow dry it, it drys natually... My hair takes about a day to dry on ita own... but because I always walk around with wet hair I barely ever get a cold... though in winter my hair freezes.
Ah, the rare Dimentium stupidus. It's legs contain a special chemical that makes you impotent and turns your mind to mush. They're harmless otherwise, just don't let one crawl on your bare skin. — Olin Lathrop36 mins ago
