@ab2 thank you for the rejection on that poor edit - @CharlieBrumbaugh I'm not sure why you approved it as it changed my question from a Global to a Local question which was 100% not what I was asking. I am in the process of putting together an answer for this just not got the time right now
Thanks both though for reviewing!

@Aravona If its a global question than the mention of the local trip isn't particularly relevant

3:17 PM
@CharlieBrumbaugh You could say that for every question where there is background though

@Aravona The point of the site is to create a reference not to answer things that only affect one person

3:37 PM
@CharlieBrumbaugh Yes but the vast majority of our questions have anecdotal information in them such as background - "I've had this bag for X years and when I used it on my trek to Y it broke, how can I fix it" - "My friend and I really like hiking, we've done Y hike in X country, where are similar styled hikes for us to do?"
So really don't see your point there.

3:52 PM
@Aravona The point is that all of that information isn't going to be useful to someone coming from Google, unless they also have the same requirements

@CharlieBrumbaugh which is exactly why it was not in the title of my question?

@Aravona then it might not belong in the question either

@ab2 Hi everyone!! We went away for the weekend, so it's going to take me some time to catch up on what's been going on in here. I'm going to start by responding to people who've been kind enough to address me, and I also have a question for the mod team. I don't mean to ignore anything, and I'm excited to see what you've all been up to!
@CharlieBrumbaugh, I don't want to continue the discussion about what does or doesn't belong in this room, at least not now, but I do want to apologize if you think I don't care that/if/when you've been treated poorly on the site or in here. I greatly value you and don't want to minimize negative experiences you're having.
@Ricketyship Thanks for addressing me so kindly. Your point is well taken and I'll try to think more about the bigger picture. I don't want @CharlieBrumbaugh or anyone else feeling victimized, personally or especially through improper actions on the site.
As I told him, I don't want to discuss it any more, but I don't want to minimize it either.
@Aravona, thanks for the compliment. It was very sweet! Also, I was going to reject that edit on your diving question too, but by the time I saw it, it didn't need me. I think, as others noticed, the well-intentioned "editor" just didn't fully read the question. I can see why the first paragraph would match the proposed new title, but the real question is farther down. I'm glad @ab2 rejected it.
@ab2, I hope the confusion about flags has been cleared up for you now. They're just more visible, not actually flagged. I can imagine what it must have looked like to you! It was the same for me in the beginning! I've never flagged anything of yours, other than in general requests for the mods to clean up long conversations, if you happened to be a part of them.
@RoryAlsop, especially since we (I) need to be doing more flagging, I could use some guidance. (I've been thinking of writing something like this as a meta post, in case it would be helpful to more people. I think it's covered in SE:Meta but those are long posts to wade through.)

@Rory Alsop, It seems to me, correct me if I'm wrong, that the mods might be looking for more "rude" than "unnecessary" flags, in order to get a closer look at patterns of what could be rude behavior. Is that the case?
Do those carry more weight, or show up more quickly in your queue, or something?
I see lots of snarky comments, from all types of users including old, new, etc.
I don't do anything with them because a certain level of snark has kind of always been allowed.
I know it's not a simple question I'm asking, but there are just times I don't know when snark crosses the line into rude.
I think almost all snark is rude!
There's a remark on the site right now, and I won't point to it, but it did upset the OP.
It was sarcastic, which to me is it's own kind of rude.
I would flag it as rude, so maybe I just should and see what happens. I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but I just don't know where the line is. Anyway, I don't mean to be babbling. I think I'll come up with a more concrete example with fictitious people, and see if you can help me know which flag to raise. I usually do nothing at all, but that doesn't help the site.
@RoryAlsop, I do have another question though. If I flag a remark, and it has been responded to, do I flag that remark as unnecessary, since it's dangling out there and the problem has been taken care of?
I assume I would wait to see if the first one disappears before flagging the second, in case the first is rejected.
@TestingChatbot, no matter how often I try I can't seem to get the list of pingable people to come up. I tried !!pingable, on its own line above (deleted now) but nothing happened! ! can figure it out, but I'd love to get that list thingy to work. What am I doing wrong?! Thanks......

@Sue What threw me on the flags is that they appeared on all comments except my comments.
