Q: Steady State Topography and Advertising/Preference: Weaknesses? Criticism?

KrystaSteady-state topography is a derivation of EEG/ERPs using an evoked potential to an ongoing oscillating stimuli called the steady state visually evoked potential (SSVEP). Variations in the phase difference between the SSVEP and the stimulus are interpreted to measure "summed changes in synaptic t...

Q: Is the desire to impress others a major goal?

walterwhiteIs the desire to impress others a goal of everyone? Does a person get a job, go to the gym, etc., to signal worthiness of another person's approval?

I'm thinking "Why my brain hurt?" might get 7-9 upvotes ;)

Someone be brutally honest, did this answer miss the mark? I can't tell if it's just obscure and no one cares or if I just didn't answer what he was asking:

A: Are there neurological conditions that can be worsened by B group vitamins?

Chuck SherringtonPeople often fall under the spell of the "more is better" assumption when it comes to supplements, but, while B6 (pyridoxine) has many lifesaving applications (e.g., treating a specific type of seizure, or [protecting the system from acute neurotoxicity of chemotherapeutic agents, B6 can be downr...

@Jonsca gave u +1 , but it doesn't really answer the question. Which medical conditions and the biochemical side effects

Well, I covered the biochemical side effects pretty well, I think. It wasn't exacerbating any conditions, but was creating one.
I appreciate the input, though, for sure

Yes it was about creating one

"So, the very act of taking the supplement in excess can exacerbate an existing neuropathic condition"
I think that's the answer right there

Hang on I'm on my phone, let me go to my laptop and I'll write better

Don't have to, I get what you mean

could such supplementation overload/deplete the intrinsic factors for these vitamins, making them temporarily unavailable to the brain?
@jonsca I think it can be fixed by saying, yes it can... this is the name of the condition (which you've described) and
the other part is almost a homeostasis question.. in fact that part doesn't make sense, so I guess you've addressed it

Eh, it could still use some work, but I think I got at the question that he was really asking anyway.
(and if people are coming and reading it later, the B6 cautionary tale is probably worth them reading)

@jonsca yes and there's still a backlog of unanswered questions.. I am having a good go at them at the moment.. I am trying to balance the increase in question rate with, at least, maintaining, if not improving answer %

Q: Striking a balance between citations and common sense in answers

SkippyPlease bear with me. I am throwing up suggestions, before writing my final question below. I am addressing the way we can answer questions, based on citations, linking answer style with question style. Some answers require thorough research and well cited references. There are many more "generi...

Q: Is a newborn incapable of attributing to her own existence some basic value?

SkippyI quote from the publication "After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?" We take ‘person’ to mean an individual who is capable of attributing to her own existence some (at least) basic value such that being deprived of this existence represents a loss to her. My first question is ...

this is worth looking at.. you have GOT TO READ the article I am citing.. or at least the excerpts I've quoted.. I had to THINK of how I cold write a question about it, I wanted to ask.. something like.. is this the thin edge of the wedge, or can Hitler's idea of genetic experimentation and the devaluation of human life be lined with this study.. OMG
