Would you use Wolfram to make calls to DLL functions in order to operate a measurement device?
Is Python the more appropriate programming language to do that?

I am just at the very starting point of doing it as part of a paid job, and my working place tends to prefer Python and Matlab while I prefer Wolfram. So I would like to hear your opinion regarding it.
