For those interested in prompting daily COVID-19 data in US and Canada, coronavirus.1point3acres.com/en is now providing API to their manually curated data. Note it seems to be provided per request (the Get Data button at the top-right of the page), and they don't allow redistribution of the their raw data.

Can anyone try MaTeX with 12.1 on Windows? My access to Windows is somewhat constrained at the moment and I don't have enough disc space to install a full TeX system in my Windows VM.

No need to test this anymore. Found and fixed the problem.

1:24 PM
Command-Shift-F now brings me to my Wolfram Account page in a broswer, rather than showing the docs for the currentl function. Anybody else?

1 hour later…
2:28 PM
@CarlLange For me, it works as before.

2:41 PM
@CarlLange also works as before for me.

3:11 PM
Very strange. Must be specific to my system.
Aha, it seems like the Help menu's "Find Selected Function" is bound to "Wolfram Account Settings" and there's an off-by-one error that cascades down that list. No idea why
Aha, I'm seeing double

3:47 PM
Hmm, just completely reinstalled all wolfram products and I still have this problem.
I guess it's time to ask support.

4:06 PM
@CarlLange did you try doing the settings/cache/preferences wipe? e.g. support.wolfram.com/12464?src=mathematica

4:17 PM
@CarlLange I have had the same issue for half eternity

For anyone who interested in rust, I implemented the wxf protocol: github.com/GalAster/wolfram-exchange/blob/master/projects/…

It is now very easy to convert complex rust data structures to wolfram, welcome to submit more test cases

@kirkus Yeah, both for Mathematica and Wolfram Desktop...
It's only an issue in Mathematica, which seems odd.
@kirma Really!? That's so weird, I was pretty certain it was a one-off. Did you come up with a workaround?

4:44 PM
BinarySerialize with PerformanceGoal as Size is not implemented yet, because I don't know which zip algorithm is used

FrontEndTokenExecute["SelectionHelpDialog"] does work correctly, interestingly

5:44 PM
@CarlLange I've been too lazy to do anything... ;)
... as far as I remember.
Also, I do remember hearing of this problem earlier. Like probably year or two back already.

@kirma In SystemFiles/FrontEnd/TextResources/Macintosh/MenuSetup.tr, you can move the MenuItem for it to one of the other panes and it'll work fine.
Entertainingly if you also just rename HelpMenu to Menu in that file, the whole menu works fine, except you've got two of them :P
I imagine this is a holdover from when they ported to Cocoa, or just a specific issue with the later OSX versions.

Entirely plausible!

Have no idea where HelpMenu itself is defiined - presumably in the system-specific linkings (probably ObjC in this case?)
(It would be nice if at least parts of Mathematica were open source so that I could debug things without feeling like I'm voiding the warranty)

@CarlLange So did you find a specific fix?

@kirma Easiest fix is to rename the HelpMenu to Menu, because then (even though you have two Help menus) all of the items work correctly.
Including the keybinding

5:59 PM
Eh.

in /Applications/Mathematica.app/Contents/SystemFiles/FrontEnd/TextResources/Macintosh/MenuSetup.tr
yeah

Indeed, that seemed to work, apart from the double menu. :)

👍
Wish it wasn't such a gross hack

;)

2 hours later…
@Szabolcs I'll download the official release and test on Linux. I had it on both systems and, in fact, I initially reported this for Linux without trying it on Mac. Later I found that also Mac was affected and it's when we talked about it.

If they don't do a 12.1.1, that will be very very bad.

7:49 PM
Does anyone have a ready-made solution for a figure caption cell style that I can add to an existing notebook?

8:19 PM
Why does PageBreakAbove -> False not work in stylesheets? This is killing me :'-( Never again use a notebook for any sort of report!
Doesn't even work as a cell option.
And I'm not going to report this bloody bug, I already spend way too much time on reporting bugs.
