10:03 PM
@GlenH7 @MichaelT has 7 by my count

user41796
@JimmyHoffa and he's nice enough to not rub my nose in it...

user55340
Actually... I only see 6.

user55340
(there was one day were I had 199... which you might be counting as 7)

user55340
And I must have miscounted... earned at least 200 reputation on 7 days

user41796
you've also got a much higher rep to answer ratio than I do.

user41796
it's a handy link; tallies the 200+ days at the bottom.

user41796
and I was wondering if that link would explode by pasting in chat since it's tailored to the logged in person

user55340
@GlenH7 I must point out that its because I answered some absurdly publicized questions.

user41796
no one said the allocation of imaginary points was fair. :-) And why hasn't that bonus been assigned to me already?!?!

user55340
@GlenH7 There's a star for your bonus.

user41796
10:14 PM
If it hasn't been awarded by the time I get home tonight, I am so going to open a rant on MSO and let them know how broken this "bonus" system is. Complete bollox it is!

Damnit, what's that word starts with co means giving somebody a choice of two things and demanding they choose

psr
I've rep capped 3 times - all from thoroughly undeserving answers.

On the tip of my tongue
@psr They usually are.
Even on P.SE there's more preference for crap than for complex quality questions

user55340
@JimmyHoffa compulsory?

user55340
constraint?

10:26 PM
Nope. Finish this sentence: "Either light that printer on fire, or I'll eat this quarter!" "Don't give me a co___!"

user55340
consultant?

user20683
pyer

user20683
though a coconsultant is good too

user55340
Might be related to dichotomy.

For the life of my the only word that keeps bubbling up in my head is continuation which is obviously quite wrong.

user20683
10:31 PM
conniption? I'll go get Voretaq if we need one of those.

user55340
Something that irks me... the inconsistent use of spaces, punctuation, and capitals in questions. I mean, we are programmers... we have to do things exactly the right way to have a compiler work. But when a question has a space before a comma in one sentences, and then one after a comma in the next, and then no space in the next, and then both sides on the next... I have to wonder what mental model the asker has of computing if their mental model of written text is so flawed.

user20683
@MichaelT Often those are teens or ESL users.

user55340
I wouldn't complain if it was wrong... and consistently wrong. But inconsistently wrong is the thing.

psr
conundrum?

@psr Nope.

user20683
10:32 PM
@JimmyHoffa what is the speaker trying to express?

close though

user55340
@WorldEngineer I get my caps and typed text in French and Spanish done correctly... and they know far more English than I do either of those languages.

@WorldEngineer That they are being told to do something or else and that's not cool, yo.

user20683
coronary

user55340
Every other 'i' is capitalized. Sometimes at the start of sentences, sometimes not. If it was all not caps, and they didn't touch the shift key... no problem. But inconsistently...

user20683
10:34 PM
aka a heart attack.

Maybe it doesn't start with co...

psr
Sophie's choice

@WorldEngineer myocardial infarctwhat?

user20683
infarction

user20683
Do not play me at Scrabble.

user20683
10:35 PM
You will lose.

heh I was kidding; I've spent plenty of time in the cardio-telemetry unit to know

user20683
@JimmyHoffa :)

psr
corpus callosum?

@psr Mine's failing apparently

user20683
cordyceps?

psr
10:42 PM
it's not coerce, is it? That doesn't really mean 2 options, particularly.

@psr Nope. It's kind of a bigger word too, conundrum sounds the closest in my head (but doesn't mean the same)

psr
But it specifically means offering 2 options?

I think, it mostly means demanding a choice be made
You could have more options I guess
it's the demanding that makes it not giving options
"They put a _____ to me"
Maybe it doesn't start with co... I wonder if @YannisRizos can in all his latin glory just construct the word from scratch. Latin's not greek? Ahh, you're just drunk, surely they're the exact same thing.

psr
ultimatum?

Yes! Why did I think there was a co in it?

psr
10:49 PM
@JimmyHoffa corpus callosum?

@psr Probably.

user20683
@JimmyHoffa Latin has some Greek borrowings

psr
a thesaurus would probably have worked for you.

user20683
but no, only distantly related

user20683
A reverse dictionary might help

10:51 PM
@psr I tried, choice was the only thing I could come up with that was close

psr
or a Thessalonican
i probably mangled the spelling on that.

user20683
@psr Thessalonikian I think

@psr Dead right actually

psr
@JimmyHoffa - So, are you giving someone an ultimatum in the near future?

Nope. All that for this:

user20683
10:57 PM
@JimmyHoffa actually he and I are both wrong

@GlenH7 Yeah, I suggest you give MSO an ultimatum, that'll show them!

user20683
it's bleeding obvious: Thessalonian

@WorldEngineer shrug I found this and went with it: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Thessalonican

psr
@JimmyHoffa does that mean "all that for nothing" or "all that for something I haven't typed yet"?

@psr It means all that for a stupid comment I tried writing before realizing I couldn't find the damned word, which became more important than the comment pretty quickly
I still feel like there's a synonym that starts with co, I can't shake it. Whatever.
I blame corpus callosum.
Or wernicke's area at least...

psr
11:01 PM
Your right brain is trying to tell you ultimatums can be implemented with a comonad

@psr And my left brain is napping? Typical left brain.
And lets be clear, ultimatums are distinctly monadic. They fit comonads poorly.

psr
typical right brain

11:57 PM
this can happen only at MSO. OP initiate dupe-closure of their (nicely upvoted) question, and question gets an upvote right while it goes through closure, most likely from one of close voters...

Q: Was it a mistake to flag these answers?

gnatMy not an answer flags for the below answers were declined "a moderator reviewed your flag, but found no evidence to support it". I am sorry I am kind of sleepy .. but you can read here to get an idea of your problem :) [dead URL] This thread has a good discussion of this issue, near the bott...

That was a day of great convergence, dupe closed 7-to-1 unless I missed something (and 2 of these 7 were mine). I hate some things at MSO, but some things are just fantastic there
