@user21820 I voted to delete all of them, except for those that were closed for being duplicates. Why do you want to delete those too?

6:18 PM
@JoséCarlosSantos I am not sure that I understand your question. Are you asserting that if a question has been closed as a duplicate, then it should not be deleted?
If so, I disagree. That is, I do not believe that being closed as duplicate is sufficient reason to keep a question around. If someone poses a good question, but that question happens to be a duplicate, then I think that there is a reason to retain the question. However, the questions above all seem to be pretty blatant PSQs. Would you argue in favor of keeping them if they were not closed as duplicates?

6:41 PM
No, not that. I just think the fact that a question was closed as a duplicate is not, by itself, enough to to make me think that it should be deleted. Often, the presence of the duplicates is good for searches. On the other hand, if a PSQ is a duplicate of another PSQ, then both of them should be deleted.
@XanderHenderson Just to call your attention to the fact that I have already replied.

@JoséCarlosSantos Like Xander said, I think PSQs should be deleted, and being a duplicate is not a relevant criterion, so I also don't understand your question...

7:39 PM
@user21820 Let us consider D9, for instance. In my opinion, it is a PSQ and it is also a duplicate of a question which is not a PSQ. What do you think?

@JoséCarlosSantos I think it should be deleted. As you say, it is a PSQ. Worse still, the ancient duplicate would have been easily found if the asker had bothered to click on the "Questions that may already have your answer" that pop up on entering the title "With integration by parts, why don't we write the constant of integration when integrating the second function inside the integral?". So no effort shown at all. And the question itself is so vague, not just a PSQ.

@user21820 When we delete a duplicate, there is always the risk of deleting a question whose title is better as far as searches are concerned (I've already seen that). But, OK, from now on I shall vote to delete the duplicates if they are also PSQs.

I see, we could edit to improve titles that are far worse. =)

Perhaps this is listed above somewhere: math.stackexchange.com/questions/3197462/…

@rschwieb Your last one is too recent to be listed above.
@user21820 Here's an example: “Root of a nonzero polynomial with algebraic coefficients is algebraic?” is a much better title (as far as searches are concerned) than “Interesting property of a polynomial ring with coefficients algebraic over Q”. But I admit that cases like this are probably quite rare.
Another bad PSQ, with an upvote.

@JoséCarlosSantos I think that I have said this before, but I think that thinking should go as follows:
(1) Is the question worth keeping in isolation?
If "no", then delete it.
(2) Is the question a duplicate?
If "no", then leave it open. If "yes", close it as a duplicate.
First, assess the quality of a question. If it isn't worth keeping, then it isn't worth keeping, whether or not it is a duplicate of another question.

@XanderHenderson I'me fine with those suggestions. Now, suppose that someone posts a question and that you think that it is both a PSQ and a duplicate. How would you vote to close it then? I would vote to close it as off-topic.

@JoséCarlosSantos I typically vote to close such question as "duplicate", as that can provide a signpost to the original asker in the time between closure and deletion.
