@BillDubuque Both this and the CAS non-answer are gone now.
@YuiToCheng I added that fact into the question.

I have no idea why this post has 5 downvotes and just my upvote. Even before the MathJax edit it was still perfectly understandable.

@RodrigodeAzevedo Needless to say, the situation is not as simplistic as your comment portrays it.

4:51 PM
@rschwieb Still, some busybodies seem to feel entitled to erasing other people's content with impunity.

@RodrigodeAzevedo Just checking whether you saw my previous comment. (I did not ping you back than - it seemed that you were still in the room.)
2 days ago, by Martin Sleziak
There is a recent discussion on meta: What are the merits, if there is any, of deleting (correctly) answered questions in the main site of MSE? Several older related discussions on this issue are linked there.

@RodrigodeAzevedo One could just as easily argue that these "other people" are working to diminish the quality of the site, and that their "work" is, therefore, unproductive and damaging.

@MartinSleziak I did see it.

@MartinSleziak Please explain to me the merit of closing question math.stackexchange.com/q/2256241/339790 which I answered in full detail 2 long minutes after asking. Either vandalism or busybodies on a power trip.

4:59 PM
@RodrigodeAzevedo Personally I would not vote to close/delete that one. But there are certainly users who are much more familiar with that area of mathematics are and more capable of judging quality of that question.
TBH, I seldom vote to delete. (Whether that's good or bad is up for discussion.)

@MartinSleziak I doubt it, as a similar question on MathOverflow had a somewhat wrong answer that went uncriticized.

I wanted to write: users who are much more familiar with that area of mathematics than me. Sorry for the omission.

@MartinSleziak I was not attacking you. I simply do not believe CRUDE's filter is of a higher standard than MathOverflow's.

BTW I see that the question already went through several reopen reviews: math.stackexchange.com/posts/2256241/timeline

@MartinSleziak Indeed.

Well, many users who visit CRUDE, you should not consider it is as some monolithic entity.
However, I have to say that there are many aspects in which Mathematics is much better site than MathOverflow. (I'd say, almost anything which is related to site maintenance and moderation.)

BTW it seems that this question has not been mentioned in this room before. You brought it up in Mods' Office some time ago: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/20352/2018/6/21
Have you asked about that question in the reopen request thread? Perhaps that could be way to go.

@MartinSleziak If people act in bad faith, I do not see the point of engaging in polite conversation.

I don't have much to say to that. It seems that you are complaining about the closure, but you're unwilling to use the standard mechanisms for reopening.

I wish I had some useful advice for you, but what I said above (and in the previous discussion in Math Mods' Office) is basically all I am able to suggest.

@RodrigodeAzevedo Your previous comments that say you assume users in this room act in bad faith, that they "act with impunity" and so on indicate that you do not know anything about the population or purpose of the room. I'm sure everyone here is willing to engage in some constructive suggestions about specific posts, so please try that approach. Martin's posts should be especially helpful for acclimating you to the environment.
@RodrigodeAzevedo For example, personally I would not vote to close the post. It looks like rather a good model of how a self-answered question should look. It looks a bit like (as you probably surmised) the close-voters didn't take into account that the self-answer is the context.
@RodrigodeAzevedo At any rate, even outside of this room, may I humbly suggest that storming into a discussion space bristling insults is not going to win many hearts and minds...

@rschwieb That is a nice example. Thank you for brining it up here---I have upvoted the answer.
