11:10 AM
@amWhy It's now closed and deleted. =)

@SimplyBeautifulArt Actually I see effort. The asker went to find the Unicode symbols for the exponents!

@user21820 xD
Oh hey, mods can force dupe closures

@SimplyBeautifulArt Tag-experts also can.

That's what AJ was saying over here:
in Math Meta Chat, Sep 6 at 16:36, by AJ Henderson
where if a user had high rep in a tag on the question, they'd be able to vote to mark an answer as "incorrect"

11:56 AM
And mods can reply to flags?

@SimplyBeautifulArt They sometimes reply to my flags, but I do not know which mod replied.

Yeah, unless its a scenario like above when you can see the mods actions (via dupe closure or whatever)

@SimplyBeautifulArt Um then why did you answer it? To gain rep first before deleting?
It's a good hint, but to a bad question.

@user21820 Idk, it was a long time ago...
Well, at least not recent enough for me to remember why I answered it

Lol ok. I can't delete it because I already voted to...
Long ago too, probably.

12:05 PM
@user21820 xD

3 hours later…
2:38 PM
@user21820 are you sure you and @SimplyBeautifulArt are talking about the same thing?
@SimplyBeautifulArt yes for flags on posts (not for comment flags). But it is more giving a reason for the action than starting a conversation. Though on rare occasion I have (re)cast a custom flag in reply to the reason given by mods.

3:03 PM
@quid: I think so. He was asking for a delete vote for some PSQ, and I can't delete it because I already voted to delete long time ago.
@quid Well if you meant flags, I don't know. I didn't think about the difference between post/comment flags.

3:14 PM
@user21820 my first comment is a reply to your assertion that tag experts can force dupe closure. (You can find this out by clicking on the symbol of the start of my comment.) What do you mean by force dupe closure?

Oh oops I thought I clicked but apparently mistook something.
I thought tag-experts can immediately close as duplicate.
No need for 5 voters.

That's true. But I think that is not what Simply meant.
Because obviously mods can close as dupe in this form; mods can always vote alone so I suspect @SimplyBeautifulArt meant something else.

Ah.

@SimplyBeautifulArt, @Did, @Jack, @user21820 This is another post from the same user as in the link immediately above: needs to be deleted.

8:18 PM
@Jack It's now gone! :)

One more delete vote needed, @Simply, to the answer you've just linked.

Cheers, @Typhon! I know you can't respond at this moment. But wanted to say "hey" 0/
@SimplyBeautifulArt $\checkmark$ (also flagged as low quality, so it shows up in the low quality queue as well as the close queue.)
@SimplyBeautifulArt ditto

9:14 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt, @user21820, @Jack, @Did PSQ

@amWhy Self-deletion

9:49 PM
@Marios And I'd say, given the OP's rep, I tend to believe, even more strongly, that s/he should know better by now than to ask a problem statement question, and is all the more culpable than a newbie would be. — amWhy 42 secs ago
@amWhy That had surprised me very much

@SimplyBeautifulArt I posted the comment at a point at which only the first line and nothing beyond it existed.
Prove the following,

$$|| A^{-1} - B^{-1}|| = ||A^{-1}||*||B^{-1}||*||A - B|| $$

Wait, which question are we talking about?
Oh, the self-deleted one?

Oops I thought you were linking (or responding to the self-deleted one).
@SimplyBeautifulArt Why do you find this comment surprising? For some with over 1K rep, ought to know that problem statement questions are not well received. I don't care what the level in math, askers still can be expected to provide some contextual information. So why is it surprising I expect the same from the user?
PSQ & "How do i start ? please Help me !" Is in no way a quality question.

@amWhy I'd wish people knew better

@SimplyBeautifulArt What is that supposed to mean?
@SimplyBeautifulArt Actually, I suspect I know what you mean.

10:00 PM
@amWhy That users with +1000 rep should post better posts
Oh, well, dinners ready. I'll be back

@SimplyBeautifulArt Not "better", just not PSQ's! "Should Know better than to post PSQ's" I never said that they have to meet any additional criteria than that which is expected of all users, regardless of level. Do not
put words in my mouth.
Have a good dinner, @SimplyBeautifulArt
Verbatim, for the record @Simply. I said this, and only this: And I'd say, given the OP's rep, I tend to believe, even more strongly, that s/he should know better by now than to ask a problem statement question, and is all the more culpable than a newbie would be.** Anyone who has been around here for long enough to acquire 1k rep or more, is more "culpable" meaning "they of all people, should know better, given their time on this site. We still hold "newbies" accountable for PSQ;

@amWhy yes, that is what I meant
Oops, hope I didn't cut you off

10:15 PM
Why shouldn't we hold veteran users accountable for PSQ. Never, there nor here, have I suggested that higher rep users ought to ask better questions. only that there is no excuse (whereas a newbie may claim I'm new to this site, so forgive me), for asking a PSQ.
"Know better than to post a PSQ" $\neq$ "should post better posts."

:-/ my lights just flickered
I am surprised the question is not yet closed

@SimplyBeautifulArt Oh, oh :-\
@SimplyBeautifulArt Yeah... I know. BTW, I was no supporting Olivier; in fact I downvoted the answer. From my point of view, I would have preferred that it not have been answered, put on hold, and see how the asker responds.

Yes, that's fine :-)

@SimplyBeautifulArt How close are you to the coast (Western or Eastern, of Floriday)?
Have you had to "evacuate"?

10:31 PM
@amWhy I'm (luckily) on the eastern side

@SimplyBeautifulArt Ahh, that's good!

And no, I haven't had to evacuate, though it is quite an experience watching the trees sway as much as they do, and the hurricane isn't considered to have "reached" me yet
One might consider checking posts that you have downvoted, particularly searching for posts with the [closed] tag

10:52 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt And ... so ... ? I don't always vote to close posts I down vote. I guess I'm curious why you posted the last comment, and why list only my delete votes, while addressing "One might ... "?

@amWhy I just noticed that that's a thing
I can't access your votes, the link is set to the profile of the currently logged in user

Oh... cool! I remember someone demonstrating this in a chat, a few years ago. A number of us were like "Why focus on me?" only to learn the "thing" you've used. Hilarious!

:D I learned it recently from Martin

How do you do that, @SimplyBeautifulArt ?

In the link, replace 9003/amwhy with current

11:01 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt Very neat! Martin knows so much about SE and MSE, and hacks to search effectively, and quickly, tags, Meta.SE posts, meta.mse etc. and can readily come up with site analytics/or search features etc etc. In my mind, he's got the status of a mod, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I agree. Has he ever ran for mod?

@SimplyBeautifulArt I don't remember an election in which he ran.... But many have nominated him every election that I witnessed here. But he's declined. He's a very modest man, which I respect.

Yes, indeed :D
I'd nominate him hands down, but I suspect he's not the kind of person up for that internally, or for whatever reason concerns him.
Oh, and in concern to PSQ's,
And, of course, to get help from your professor, you should walk into his office, place your homework sheet in front of him, and silently wait for him to give you the answer. — Hurkyl May 5 '13 at 12:17
xD Nicely describes the situation

@SimplyBeautifulArt OMG! That's precious!!

Doing a brief skim, none of the answers seem to use this on the PSQ discouragement post, thinking of adding an answer

11:22 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt Go for it! I'll certainly upvote the answer!

11:52 PM
@amWhy I hope you don't mind my use of "he"

A: Proposal: Discourage questions that are nothing besides a problem statement

Simply Beautiful ArtOriginally from Hurkyl, To get help from your professor, you should walk into his office, place your homework sheet in front of him, and silently wait for him to give you the answer. Disrupted, the professor picks up your homework and notices that it is blank. From above the paper line, you s...

@SimplyBeautifulArt Nice +1 (I'll overlook the "he" in this case, here. :-P
