[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Repeating characters in answer: Number of squares crossed by a diagonal by Asian on math.SE

@user21820 I''ll just point out that this might be an example of what we talked about. (So I did not touch your message.) It is no longer pinned, but it is still starred.
05:20
@SimplyBeautifulArt That question seems rather popular recently:
However, it does not seem as a good candidate for merging. We can't merge question about 2017 and 2016. And of the 2016 question, the one which is open is a solution-verification question.
BTW I found the two almost duplicates using Approach0.
06:14
@MartinSleziak I was asleep when it was completed and unpinned. I've now unstarred it. Next time do feel free to unstar such posts of mine that have been dealt with. =)
@amWhy Deleted. Admittedly, Mark Bennet's nice answer does make it a little less worth deleting, but "And what's next ?! Please solve step by steps." takes the cake.
I should have upvoted your comment first before deleting, but never mind. =P
06:34
@user21820 Of course, I just left this one as an example. IIRC the last time I have unstarred before you saw that the star remained there. (Or at least I had that impression from our conversation.)
And it's definitely not a big issue - just I thought that it is worth pointing out as we are learning our way around chat (and stars).
Ah sure sure thanks!

@DanielFischer: Hello! Do you mind helping out? Like with the following HNQ drive-by nonsense:
Aug 11 at 10:14, by user21820
Here is a recent example that needs downvotes and deletion.
After celtchsk and @Did failed to educate the author, I think it is clear that the post is undulating between worthless revisions, and I've even added a counter-example to his last undulation in my own comment:
This post is utter nonsense. It originally gave the blatantly false claim that every function with no inflection points is linear (hello exponential function!). After @celtschk pointed that out the author just randomly inserted "polynomial" (as if mathematics is about handwavy guessing!) and yet it was still trivially wrong as Did so patiently tried to explain. Again, the author changed "inflection" to some randomly concocted term "undulation". NO! STILL TOTALLY WRONG! Here is a counter-example, $( x ↦ (x-2)^7/21-(x-2)^5·2/7+(x-2)^3·10/7-(x-2)·67/21+2 )$, which even resembles the given graph! — user21820 3 mins ago

The crank post regarding Mills constant gets one more vote for deletion. Looks like there are uncountably many ways to waste time and writing crank posts is one of these ways.
Hahaha yea. It is incredible though how much time some of them waste on their endeavours.
I got here from SBA chat room (perhaps you had moved some messages from here to there). Nice acronym for this chat room. :)
Haha oh you weren't aware of this room? Do you mind helping out for the pinned posts on the right? We're trying out using this room as a more transparent location for ridding Math SE of junk. We'll pin bad posts that need to be dealt with, and unpin them when it's done. Room owners can do pinning and unpinning, so I've added you.
Thanks for adding me as owner. Although I am not active on chat all the time I have started to use chat at least once everyday.
Btw I like the initiative for getting rid of junk.
12:48
@ParamanandSingh There's really no obligation to participate in this room to any extent; I've added you as owner because you care about correctness and so whenever you like you could come here and take a look at the junk. =)
@user21820 Now closed and deleted - revisions/timeline. So I've unstarred the message.
@MetaEd Oh oops didn't notice. By the way, I just saw this EL&U post that is really useless; if we want to say that "candys're" is sometimes encountered, we could say the same of every nonsense on the planet that we see (when we see them, they are indeed encountered).
@MartinSleziak Thank you!
@user21820 <− @amWhy @SimplyBeautifulArt: This post is now ready for deletion! (I think thanks to @ParamanandSingh's downvote). Quick let's get rid of it while the score shines! =)
BTW ELL used to have a room similar to this and so did ELU. I think the latter was active mainly while Rathony was still active.
@MartinSleziak I see. Thanks for the info. Wow they have both fallen on hard times.
It seems that at ELU they prefer to deal with such thing in the main chat room: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/40642/2017/2/2 (Or at least some of the users do.)

If you wish, you can simply delete your answer. But please, do not vandalize it. — Martin Sleziak 6 secs ago
I made a rollback. The OP made edit with the summar: "erasing due to downvote".
@ParamanandSingh: By the way, after you downvote a post to negative score, you can refresh the page to access the "Delete" link. I've cast the 1st delete vote on that undulation post.

@MartinSleziak And yet the post is wrong. Thus, correcting it would be preferable to erasing it, which itself would be preferable to leaving it open and uncorrected, don't you think?
I don't really see what your point is, Did. Do you think replacing the content with "...................." was the right action to do?
The OP clearly wants to delete the answer (they stated so in a comment - now deleted - and in the edit summary), so I assume they're going to delete it.
If you want to edit the post in order to correct it, I don't think the OP will object. (Although I cannot be sure. Or you can post your own answer, of course.)
Did

@MartinSleziak No, as I said, emptying the content and erasing the post is worse than simply deleting it, which is itself worse than correcting it and leaving it posted.
13:12
And if you want to get that answer deleted, this might be a good place where you could find other users to cast delete vote.
@Did Well, that's why I made the rollback.

@MartinSleziak Yep. It is up to the OP, now.

@user21820 @Did @amWhy This question might not be on topic?
Hmm it's technically not on-topic, but since it does not seem like a silly post I'll just leave it.
14:16
@user21820 Yes, you can find a lot of stuff from 2010 2011 that would not have gotten far with today's community

That post about poet/mathematician is amusing. Let's hope to get some interesting answers. I agree the content is not mathematical but at the same time not worth deletion.

@SimplyBeautifulArt In principle, I agree this should be closed for lack of context, but it happens that the OP has thought about the problem, only, they show they have in the comments instead of in the question.
