@Criggie no, there's a cost transfer from other motorists because many bus passengers would otherwise drive, and some of the congestion/extra road cost saving is reasonably used to fund the cause of the saving.
hmmm point.

Also, doesn't Chch switch to taxi-vans for the low-use routes? I thought that was a new thing about 10 years ago when I was last in Chch.
heheh it was freshly announced a couple months ago.
red 12 seater vans that look like baby busses
Never seen one yet.

pretty quiet, no one got anything thrilling going on?
07:30
no, sorry. Just working. Got an order from wiggle and the new rear light comes pre-broken, which is annoying
On the plus side, new cassette and chain == less crappy climbing (hopefully)
11-24 replace with a 12-28
there was no 11-28

that extra 4 on the back will make climbing a joy!
I still use my 32 on the back once it goes above 8-9% gradient
the fact you've had a 24 on the back and climbed as much as you have done is great!
10:47
Ahh I have a triple
so its 26/24 on the climbs, which is still a slog.
there's one segment which I have a PR on my old MTB from two years ago
can't get near that time on the road bike.
Pissed off at wiggle though - they want me to freight a $7.70 item back to the UK for replacement. Freight will be $25
I could buy three more lights for the freight price!
:(
that's pretty poor on their part
are they going to refund you the freight?
I think they've refunded me the freight before but it was a few years ago
It wasn't said so i assume not
let me check my email, 1 min
so, I returned some overshoes last year and they refunded my freight which was 3.40 euro
I'd contact their customer service
Wow
OK will do
Seems ludicris to expect a $7.70 item back at all
I'd outline that the freight will be X times the cost of the item
10:55
its clearly broken though, poor soldering.
it's likely all automated so when you get talking to a human they may see sense
I might be able to haul the board out and resolder it
but its a lithium battery right there, doesn't strike me as a safe plan
they're usually about 1-2 euro cheaper than CRC but I get items much quicker from CRC so will pay that little premium
crc ?
chain reaction cycles
saying that, they've merged this year
10:57
ahh ok
so not sure how that is going to unfold
Wiggle seem to be all about their wiggle/dhb clothing
whereas CRC has a good selection across manufacturers
yeah - theres fat profit margin in clothes.
between the 2, it'd be hard not to find what you're looking for
I do have some DHB stuff
some very cheap bib shorts which are fine for commuting
think they were 10 euro each
hehe I bought some bibs last week - haven't worn them yet.
Nice!
and then I got some clearance DHB wind proof jerseys which were about 20 euro each and I really like them
10:59
5 more months of the year. looks like I'll be ~300 km short on my distance target.
assuming I bike the long way to/from work every day
you can make that up easily over a few weeks
take an even longer route once or twice a week
yeah - its assuming a 70 km weekend ride.
I could do 2x 50 km rides, one per day.
Its not the effort, its the time taken that's hard to find.
yup, 1 for climbs and 1 for flat
yeah, I agree with you there
I like the detours in the morning
prior to work
yeah - nah. I like sleep, so mornings tend to be a little... rushed.
11:01
We can do the odd occasional group ride at lunchtimes, but not every day.
Its kinda sad - there's some racer types who want to cruise at 30-35 km/h and there's a keen smoker who wants to do 15 km/h
even then he can't do more than ~5 km
but he "rides" an ebike 40 km each way to/from work.
...well anyway, I'm for bed
Night all!
have a good one

I'm stuck with Evans here
:(
They're fine, but the selection is a bit poor
I emailed all the retailers I usually use, and they were not keen on shipping to bhutan
oh, wow, I'm north of 8k rep

@SuspendedUser - does the giant cabbage taste different?

2 hours later…
17:28
Not that I noticed. Admittedly, I am not a cabbage fan. I would be more apt to notice the difference if someone grew a giant chicken or broccoli. Mine broccoli is coming in nicely right now.
well, we regularly eat giant chickens these days anyway, so i think id notice a smaller chicken.
BATMAN
yes?
:/ sorry I fell in love with your profile name
yeah, i was surprised it wasnt taken.
17:31
Surprised mine wasn't taken? :P
not really. i didn't see Turbo.
Bye bye batman ;)
bye.
Ummm, that was odder that the chicken experience I had in the shower yesterday.
seems like theres a lot of excitement about margot robbie's harley quinn.
what
17:35
There need's to be. Few with any taste will get excited by a joker again after Ledger.
So I was in the shower yesterday, and a bit sore from lifting and I grabbed my pec. And I realized it was roughly a handful of meat. It then occurred to me that the average chicken breast I eat is roughly the same size on an animal 1/10th my size (or smaller). I have no idea why there are not more chickens in Bodybuilding competitions.
I have a lot of doubts about Suicide Squad. If it's 3/4ths as good as Deadpool, I won't be disappointed.
yeah. but DC aside from nolan has been consistently dissapointing
part of it is that DC aside from batman is less interesting than marvel
but theyve just done a bad job with movies
It's because they keep writing the characters SOO terrible.
All of their movies are as poorly written as the Raimi Spidermans.
I think Marvel does a better job making sure their characters end up having the correct feel. That way you are not watching a movie going, "WTF, why is Batman just mowing people down with a chaingun?"

1 hour later…
18:47
yeah

@ynnekkram Round here, DHB means District Health Board.

Q: Periscope style mirrors for road bike

msladtmnI just got this bike, and put it in the classic "aggressive position". I also ran out and bought spandex. I was just wondering if there are periscope style mirrors I can fasten to the down tube so that I can actually see forward while I am trapeezing?
