@Brahadeesh I don't think we need to recreate another room. This one is quite unoccupied so will not disturb anyone
@Brahadeesh They are both great, I accepted them

@Bebs I'll keep posting updates and questions here as I edit the tag wikis, then. Thanks for approving the edit :) I think at least two reviewers need to approve it before it gets accepted?

@Brahadeesh that's right, two approvers needed
@Brahadeesh US East cost is probably sleeping right now (@Donald.McLean)

user185131
Ah yes, of course

user185131
Not a problem, there's no urgency :)

@Bebs I've answered one of your Meta questions on the tags and .

Q: Should we merge the tag [instrument-identification] to [identify-this-instrument]

BebsStandard identification tag is indentify-this-xxx so I suggest we keep identify-this-instrument so it is probably not necessary to keep both. Should we burn instrument-identification?

@Brahadeesh yes, thanks, I just saw it
I hope mods will agree
Music Fans SE mods tend to have a "Do nothing, Change nothing" policy, so it's hard to move things around here

user185131
@Bebs I'm guessing it's because there is very little discussion going on in Meta, so it's hard to judge what the community wants if very few speak up? My feeling is that mods generally prefer to be "implementers" rather than "enforcers", if that makes sense.

@Brahadeesh maybe, but the fact that they are waiting for hypothetic "more people" creates bad quality, hence repulsing potential people
the fact that an insult answer is still open makes me wonder what do they actually want

user185131
@Bebs Fair point.

9:27 AM
in other SE, they would have no doubt this answer should be deleted

user185131
@Bebs This answer seems to be removed now, since I see the 404 page not found message

sorry, bad link.

A: What exactly is slam death metal?

HellwyckPeople who call death metal "slam" are hipsters who would shit themselves at an Obituary concert. edit I am really sorry for offending anyone. I really am. Really.

user185131
@Bebs I flagged it as rude/abusive from my side, too.

user185131
Is it possible that we don't have enough regular users who handle the review queues?

user185131
On Mathematics SE I have enough reputation to go through the Low Quality Review queues, and I've often "Recommended Deletion" of many such spam or abusive posts there.

9:33 AM
@Brahadeesh maybe

user185131
If very few users go through the review queues here (or very few have the reputation to see them), then we'll have to rely on the mods more than is usual on other SE sites.

@Bebs @Donald.McLean The wiki for says the following: Please, consider asking identification for an artist you consider famous enough to be identified for people all over the world.

@Brahadeesh yes, indeed. It means that people shouldn't ask to identify songs that are not famous enough
i.e. impossible to identify

user185131
Hmm, I see how the tag could be misused, but don't you feel it is far too restrictive? There is a lot of popular music in the world that is not necessarily "global".

maybe global is not adequate, but we should avoid some situations where, for example, someone records a local garage band and tries to identify it, or someone cheats to gain a few clicks on their personal songs etc...

user185131
Yes, I completely agree that we want to avoid these situations you mentioned.

user185131
My feeling is that the usual voting and flagging mechanism should take care of these scenarios, though. I feel that there ought to be a way to reword the tag wiki to be less restrictive and yet in line with our goals.

user185131
10:28 AM
Ah, the wiki for does specify what sort of restriction is meant: . . . (e.g. don't ask to identify a garage cover band you have seen on your local bar, street music bands...).

user185131
Perhaps a line like this could be added to the wiki for too?

@Brahadeesh go ahead :)

user185131
10:40 AM
@Bebs On it! :) Also, I think it would be helpful to have a link to the Meta question "What should I do to improve my identification question?" on all the identify-this-xxx tag wikis. Some of them already do, but some of them don't. Shall I add the link to each of them?

10:53 AM
@Brahadeesh sure

@Bebs @Donald.McLean the tag info for seems to be a bit at odds with its usage. It currently reads: Use this tag to ask questions about a performance or performances by a specific performer.

user185131
But the tag is also used to ask generic questions about live performances. For instance, the top four upvoted questions with this tag are about general live performances, not about a specific performer.
