@Rеnаud true and that adds to the problems. Kids being distracted by using phones or hormones does not help either. And having little or no experience in handling any bike at high speed might kill them.

@Michael is it narrow enough to fit between your bars? You might get it into a handlebar bag, or have a bag tailored for your computer and bike.

@Michael you have to put backpacks super low, otherwise the helmet always binds.

@Michael I have a nice front rack on my single speed. I am a bit afraid, however, the rough ride on it will damage the notebook.

@Michael go to a reliable hotel the first night in Siena and send your notebook by courier. DHL and UPS have services that are compliant with banks sending notebooks as long as disks are encrypted.

@Rеnаud, the guy I mention in the comment under the "which tire for commuting" question usually did between 300 and 450 km per week, combination of commuting for work and a girlfriend quite far away. There have been days he hit over 450 km.

Not someone who reaches the top of ridden distances but cycling to clients arrival times are important and for him cycling is much more predictable that going by car and getting stopped/slowed in traffic.

@Rеnаud those things would profit from moped (bromfiets) tech, especially brakes. Mechanical disc breaks on e-bikes are not acceptable.

@Willeke Impressing distance indeed. But NL is certainly a country where I wouldn't mind using puncture resistant tires at high pressure, as the bike paths are such in a good condition that comfort is a less important criteria. In Belgium, roads (and the secondary network even more) are in a very poor condition (not counting the love of cobblestones), so having more compliant tires makes cycling much more enjoyable.
