@Criggie For me it says it is only viewable by people with close/reopen vote privelages

Oh okay - perhaps we should migrate it instead ?

If there is another stack where it would fit then that makes sense to me.
Is there one dedicated to linux?

many. But the question is not distro-specific. perhaps Unix would be better ?
heh there is no wine.SE, not for the software nor for the drink

11:53 AM
OK migrated and then edited.
@Mithical when you're not busy - how did you find the race ?

@Criggie As in... what did I think of it, or how did I discover it? ;)
It was... interesting. There were five different categories on the track at the same time, which... spiced things up a bit. I had no idea who I was actually competing against. The first couple laps I was suffering - I couldn't really breathe, my chain fell off, and my legs cramped up - but then I got more into my flow and started to overtake people.

12:20 PM
@Criggie is there a stack for computer games perhaps? If there is that might be a good fit

@AndyP "(Viewable by the post author and users with the close/reopen votes privilege)" applies to the box containing the close message, not the post as a whole.
I could see the post itself fine, and I don't have those privileges yet.

Excellent, thanks for info.
Every day is a school day :)

@AndyP Nah it would be off topic there too. The main point of the question is getting software working in Linux, so I migrated it to unix.stackexchange.com/questions/569595/…
but noone's touched it since.
@Mithical yeah a multi-class race like that is quite a melee. More-so when its a loop and multiple laps
@Mithical great work for getting off the start line - that alone is hard. And not crashing out is excellent too.
Would you do it next time ?

@Criggie Indeed. There were seven laps.

I did a couple of road races for fun, but they're getting expensive so I stopped.

@Criggie Yes. :)

Still great for socialising and so on. There's a MTB one in 6 months we might do as a work social event.., a 10 hour relay.

...10 hours? That's, uh, rather long.

7:30 PM
yeah its a relay though... 2~5 person teams, and a 20-25 minute lap. So you might only go once every 2 hours.
anyway - what would you do differently in your next race ?
For me it was "carry less stuff"
I probably had enough food for an overnight camping trip :-\ cos a previous journey I had run out and that was bad.
