That is fantastic
how did they get that far without learning this?

Soon there will be people who ask how to mount training wheels to their tri-bike after preparing for iron man on their Peloton.

11:00 AM
-grin- GCN showed there are pros out there who can't fix a puncture.

I read once Jan Ulrich could not fix a puncture.
He cycled as an organised sport, being built up as an athlete by schools and trainers.
So it never occured to him that he might go out cycling on his own, lest for the joy of it.
I remember an interview with Udo Boelts who said that this was the main reason Ulrich lost his form over the winter. When he went to a pro team there was no organised training schedule during off-season.
Took them a couple of seasons to understand that yelling at him in the spring was no good. But that they had to send someone (Boelts) there to ride with him.
He went to the touristic area where Ulrich lived (Schwarzwald) and was surprised that Ulrich couldn't recommend a single cycling route there. He just did not know how to plan a route or just go out exploring.

A real downhill rig will have serious suspension that robs up to half your power when pedaling. I've seen pros in race sections that have a uphill (for whatever reason). generally they simply get off the bike and push, it's less tiring than trying to pedal. Trying to commute on a serious downhill rig would be like trying to ride a bike with dirt for bearings and tar for lubricant.

6:25 PM
hehehe still beats walking.

10:02 PM
I can see that being an issue for someone coming up though a structured club sport
does ironman count though?
they don't have support cars, i don't think
and it's not a team sport unless you split the stages
in other news
i've lost my rollers
flying to NZ tomorrow, and there's no sign of them anywhere

2 hours later…
