@PaulH Fine China to-go cups? 🤣
At work we have a device with an SMA antenna connector. The manufacturer has glued the antenna to the device with epoxy. How can we open that connector? It also doesn't help that the nut on SMA connectors is 5/16". Who has a 5/16" wrench?! 😤

Nvm, turns out a 8mm wrench fits just fine and the glue is pretty weak 😄

9:29 AM
I would have said soldering iron and replace the connector ;)

Yeah use heat to weaken the epoxy would have been my approach, either hot soldering iron or a hot air gun
unrelated - the most BSO ebike ever, with the fakest looking decals
Sure - Porsche puts their name to a 21 speed tourney bike with a junk motor and the most Chinese wheels imaginable..... I think not.
Holy spacer stackup Batman!

10:07 AM
@Criggie Quite a contrast with the real Porsche e-bikes: shop.porsche.com/fr/fr-FR/ebike

@Erlkoenig search for hate on "dangle mugs". Status symbol isn't really getting it, it's indicators of social groups. Not wearing Gucci and the like can be a class indicator too.

(interesting detail, the Porsche e-bikes have Shimano motors while Porsche owns Fazua)
(and they are built by Rotwild, while Porsche also owns Greyp... - although the Greyp MTBs give me the impression to be in the BSO Styling territory)

10:23 AM
@Michael That would have been the alternative, yeah...
@gschenk Can not driving an offroad vehicle in town be a class indicator...

@gschenk Not very aero, is it ?
@Rеnаud yeah - and its "glitchy" I wonder why ?
cos its a $200 bike with a $300 ebike kit strapped on ?

@Criggie Gluing stickers of luxury brands on non-luxury items is already a sign of very poor taste, I don't think it's necessary to search further.

@gschenk I’ve never understood why bikepackers ride around with a mug dangling from their saddlebag. A folding cup is 45g and costs a few euros.

(I'm in the style of removing stickers, especially if it's a luxury/premium brand)

Got to show their TI-mugs, no ?

10:31 AM
@Michael I wouldn't like my cappuccino from a plastic cup. I rather have a beautiful little enamel cup.

@gschenk How do you make cappucinos when bikepacking? (I'm very interested to know :))

@Rеnаud I'm not bike packing grin
I'd get it from a cafe or bar though.

@gschenk True, and you are not hiking as well.
@gschenk Then you don't need to carry the cup grin

@gschenk Oooooh 🥰
@Michael To collect the finest road dust for the extra taste

1 hour later…
11:43 AM
@Rеnаud I'd like to do bike touring. Yet, every stage has to start and end in comfort and civilization.

12:36 PM
@gschenk That's actually easier than the alternative.
Camping is cheaper, so it's the default option for people in their 20s. But it's a fair bit more to carry, plus more time, and rain can really make for a miserable trip.
But if you can simply ride up to a B&B at the end of the day, lock your bikes in a shed, carry your bags in and have a shower, that's vastly more comfortable.

1:06 PM
But camping often gives you better views 😉

2:02 PM
"Oh, look! Rain!" "Rain in the trees." "Rain on the grass." "Look, more rain and mud!"
"We've got to find a way to dry out the tent; it's been wet for 2 weeks and it's starting to smell funky."

The fog raising from the trees illuminated by sunrays eclipsing the mountains is quite a view

Only if it's not raining.

If it's continuously raining for 2 weeks, would you do a bike tour while staying in hotels?

2 hours later…
3:48 PM
@Erlkoenig why would you have to go camping to see that?
@Erlkoenig it's easier to cancel a trip because of rain with no hotels booked.

2 hours later…
6:01 PM
@Erlkoenig I'm not 22 anymore. I would always do a bike tour while staying in hotels.

1 hour later…
7:11 PM
but booking hotels in advance is such a hassle and puts pressure on you
a tent you can pitch in the ditch in the worst case
heck, I’ve camped in a quarry while they were mining stone the whole night :D

HSE! HSE! How on earth did you get away with that? I haven't been in a working quarry since middle school, but when we were looking for fossils they had a complete work stoppage plus we were in a specific section with all equipment removed, carefully roped off from any conceivable rock fall hazards.

7:39 PM
HSE?

7:52 PM
Health and Safety Establishment. Is "OSHA" more cromulent?

3 hours later…
11:08 PM
Folks, I want to use some kind of tire valve for pressurizing something other than a tire. It will be submerged in water (river) for a few weeks. Tire valves are corrosion resistant enough for this, aren't they?

If you can find a stainless steel one, that might be optimal, but i think brass should survive as a one-time thing
