So the moderator elections aren't exactly ... filling up with many candidates

@MartinTournoij Unfortunately, smaller sites do tend to have issues getting people to help moderate them from the site. That's why I threw my hat in the ring for it. Out of curiosity, would you be interested in running?

A good thing about Pro Tempore Mods is that they will need to run again when the site graduates. Hopefully by then there will be more members of the community ready to run for the mod elections.

I was already a mod for a few years; but stepped down as I'm just not very active, and I'm still not

I check in every now and then and read a few interesting questions, but most of the time I can't be bothered to answer even if I know the answer; hell, I can't even be bothered to do reviews any more

Still a Vim users and still interested in it of course, but the enthusiasm of before has been lacking for a while 😅

So unless there's some sort of proper emergency where there are no mods left or anything ... I'd rather not

Yeah I was active in the beta and enjoy coming to the site when I can. I use vim every day and do check in with the site, but never really felt like a vi/vim expert who could answer questions. I'd love to help the site if needed though.

The one advantage of a mod that's kind of external is they can just focus on the mod duties rather than try to do the mod duties and still participate. The participation directly in the sites I mod has gone down due to not wanting me being a mod to affect how people view my comments, answers, and questions. It's not always a problem, but having the diamond attached to everything you do makes you think twice about some normal everyday things.

I know not all mods are affected by this, but it can be a burden to some.

@Dom Speaking without my diamond for a moment, I would be somewhat concerned about a mod who is disengaged from the community they moderate: is that not part of the issues over on SO right now?I admit that some level of remove might help in situations that are difficult for those close to the issue to judge.

From the diamond perspective, I do more extra thinking about wording/&c. than I would otherwise, but I find on the whole that this is a net-positive effect.
